what is the best list app?

I would like to have a list app that I can sync across devices so I
can assign chores to kids or send grocery list to husband. It would be
great if I could add to it from my PC as I do not like to type a lot on
my iPhone and the iPad is usually at work.

What do you all think is the one best app for things like that.

Thanks
Allison

I use notes, and then simply email what I want someone to have/do.
you already have it and it works pretty well. otherwise, there is
always text messaging.

She said from a PC, and I assume she meant from a Windows box, which means she does not have Apple's Notes.

But on the Mac side, that is what I use for my household of me, myself and I. So I guess I agree with you.

A Mac is technically a PC, personal computer. that is why I differentiated by saying Window box.

And why I said Apple's Notes, so it does not get confused with a Windows app called Notes. I was forced to use Windows at my last job, so I am a little familiar with Windows, but not enough to suggest a Windows based answer to your query.

I was just trying to focus the thread towards finding you a Windows based answer. Remember both Windows and Apple users are on this list, and so you have to indicate which you use so we can provide a useful answer to you.

Maybe another list member can help.

Hi Allison. If you are not against using google docs you can get a note app - I use notemaster that syncs with google. You can add a doc on your pc through google and the set up notemaster to sync to google. All devices could sync to the same account in google so they could get up to date instructions. Notemaster works well for me but there are others that can do that too.

If you didn't need the pc then groceryIQ is good for shopping

Hi Allison,

A couple of good and free solutions for sharing lists are Orchestra
To-do and iOS Reminders.

These are both cloud based so you can edit lists from your desktop
browser. Orchestra To-do has voice recognition built in.

Here's the link to Orchestra in iTunes.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/orchestra-to-do/id459356540?mt=8

The following is how to setup Reminders to be shared with others.

I keep getting double entries for addresses, phone numbers, etc.
I think it all started when I started
Using iCloud.

As you can see even the Apple
iPhone Group name is doubled.

Any suggestion for a correction?
Will deleting the iCloud stop this?

Camera+ Sees Major Update: Dozens Of Features, New API, Integration

Posted by: "Bill Boulware" bill.boulware@gmail.com   boulware0224

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Techcrunch/~3/Kb7FSReUx7Y/

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Camera+ Sees Major
Update: Dozens Of Features, New API, Integration With WordPress,
Foodspotting & More via TechCrunch by Sarah Perez on 3/13/12

Following increasing competition, most recently from SmugMug's nifty
Camera Awesome app, everyone's favorite iPhone camera replacement app
Camera+ is rolling out a major update today. There are a ton of new
features in version 3.0 of the app, including speed improvements,
multiple photo import, better sharing options, and more, but the
biggest change isn't really a consumer-facing feature at all – it's an
API.

Starting today, developers can integrate Camera+ into other apps or
create web services that make use of the photos shared by the app's
millions of users. According to Camera+'s maker, Lisa Bettany, several
developers are already integrating Camera+ into their apps using the
new APIs, including WordPress, Tweetbot, Twitterific, Foodspotting and
Twitterlator Neue.

For those unfamiliar (Android users?), Camera+ is the 10th best-selling
paid iPhone app of all-time, and it recently shipped its 7 millionth
copy. The app serves to replace the iPhone's built-in camera with a
number of additional options for editing and sharing photos.

With Camera+ version 3.0, which rolled out a day earlier than expected,
there's a long list of improvements, including the following:

- A new app icon: The first thing you'll notice is a new app icon,
which is basically just a more polished version of the old one.
- Better sharing: You can now share to multiple services, or multiple
accounts on the same service, all at the same time. Sharing is also
much faster than before.
- Multiple photo library import: You can now import multiple photos
from your photo library all at once. The import panel also now include
large thumbnails, zooming to view your photo large, and photo info.
- Workflows: New workflows let you either shoot a lot of photos in a
row, without worrying about editing and sharing, or you can choose to
edit and share each picture right after you take it.
- Focus & exposure locks: With this feature designed more for
photographers, you can now lock the focus and exposure of the camera,
independently of each other.
- APIs: There are a few, new comprehensive APIs for Camera+. The first
part of the API is web widgets, which lets you add the photos from
Camera+ to your own website. Next, there's the app integration API for
iOS. This one allows app developers to integrate Camera+'s high-quality
photo shooting, editing, and sharing in their own iOS apps. Finally,
there's the web sharing API.
- Improved Lightbox UI: In Camera+ 3, the Lightbox has been reworked to
be more usable. The company warns it will "take a couple of seconds" to
get used to the new Lightbox.
- Create web link: This improved to the Message feature (SMS sharing)
aims to be even easier.
- Tuned Clarity: Clarity is one of the app's standout features. This
improvement makes clarity even better, with specific tweaks just for
the iPhone 4S
- VolumeSnap setting in menu
- Status bar in Lightbox: In previous versions, the iPhone's status bar
is now visible.
- Improved performance: The app's performance has gotten a boost, and
is more fluid and faster.
- Notifications: Opt-in notifications can now alert you to update info,
news, and about contests.
While this feature set will definitely have everyone hitting up their
App Store app today to grab the update, the most interesting change is
the Camera+ API. With some nearly 600,000 iOS applications, offering
other developers the option to integrate Camera+ into their own
applications will lead to even more usage and visibility. Not only will
Camera+ be able to serve as the photo-taking interface within other
non-photography focused apps like Foodspotting, it will also allow
developers to include Camera+ users' photos as an option in apps
related to social sharing, like those Twitter apps, for example,
mentioned above.

More than that, it positions Camera+ as a service, instead of just a
utility. And that, in turn, means it could one day take on the default
photo-sharing services like Flickr and Photobucket, if the company
chose to do so. After all, where do most of your photos come from
today? Your phone! Wouldn't it make sense for the service that manages
your online photos be built from the ground-up for mobile photo
sharing? Camera+ isn't discussing its future plans in this arena, but
it seems like an obvious next step for the company as the mobile
photo-sharing market continues to grow.

The updated version of Camera+ went live in iTunes this morning.

Most USB Ports on computers are limited to 500mAh.
The supplied wall wart for an iPhone 4 is 1000mAh or 1Ah.
The supplied wall wart for an iPad is 2000mAh or 2Ah.
The iphone should regulate its self to 1000mAh max current draw when
charging. SO if your using a charger that produces more current then its
needing the phone will limit its self to prevent it from charging to fast
and over heating.

Thanks for explaining the mechanics, or I guess the electronics of it.

While you are there, I was wondering if you could give an opinion on another USB power question.

I am trying to space a USB three way away from MacBook Pro. When plugged in directly, I can power my Canon LiDE30 scanner. I have mixed results trying my three 30-inch male/female USB cables.

The Griffin is the smallest diameter, and functions the best, but it apparently providing just enough power. A generic cable is providing just under enough power, where it might work once of twice, but not enough for multiple scans. It is the common diameter. Both of these will light the LED on the Belkins 3-way.

And then I have an Apple male/female USB cable, that came with my MBP. It can not even light the LED in the 3-way, but is the largest diameter, similar to a Firewire cable.

My question is there no standard for power transmission over USB cables? I'm trying to move the cable clutter just a little further back from the MBP.

I think the total distance from MBP to scanner is right about 6 feet. The scanner is the only one that is USB powered, other than LED.

That really should read:

Most USB ports on Windows based computers are limited to 500mAh.

Most current Macs would provide at least 1Ah, enough to charge an iPad correctly.

I've not heard of the Apple male-female USB cable. What would it be used
with?

Is the "3-way" a passive hub? You do realise that if it's passive, the
available current has to be split 3 ways?

App refund

Posted by: "Janet McGrath" JMCGRATH1@nyc.rr.com   msmacca99

Hi all, I have a question about the app store refund policy. I purchased an
app that does not work at all after attempting everything I could think of,
reboot, uninstall and reinstall, etc. I reported the problem to Apple and
at the end of the reporting process the page states that they are not
responsible for the functionality of apps and to contact the developer.
While the developer did at least have the courtesy to reply, they are saying
that only apple can provide a refund and I haven't heard anything back from
them yet. The developer has stated that I should get a refund and that the
app will not work in any iOS after 4.3 and they will not be updating it.
This was not mentioned in the app's description in the app store.

I know the refund policy is in writing somewhere on apple's site, but I
can't seem to find it. I normally wouldn't even bother but this was
relatively expensive for an app which is listed as an app, but is actually a
book and I could use the money to buy a hard copy.

I would appreciate any info/advice on who is really responsible if there is
anything else I could/should do.

Thanks for your attention.

Janet, you actually have to have to request a refund from iTunes.
Tell them everything, and include the letter from the app company
stating that they think that you should get a refund. It takes a
couple of days.

Log into your store account. You should see a list of purchases. When you get to your purchases, it gives you several options. Report it here and you will usually get a refund within a couple of days.

Well I finally gave up on the 5.1 install and took the iPad2 to the Apple store. The genius told me there were lots of problems with this upgrade so he made sure it was backed up and then put it in DFU mode and restored it from scratch to version 5.1. Went smoothly and now all is well. He also showed me how to get it into DFU mode properly (I was doing it wrong). We restored it from my iCloud backup and all is well. When I got home I synched it in iTunes which transferred all my music back. I am a happy camper. He recommended doing this with any software upgrade to prevent any problems. There is no trick to going to the DFU mode… you just have to do it right. Instructions are on Apple's website.

Paul,

Is that a misspelling? Going to Apple.com and looking for "DFU mode" I got 49 hits, with no mention of DFU.

Interesting…… that is what the Genius told me as he was doing it. I didn't check to see if it was actually on the apple website. Check this link and it will tell you about it. This is exactly what he did:

Reminders

I have been playing with the reminders and Geofencing. To complete the reminder I switch on "At a Location". I then touch the location and I'm given three choices. First "Current Location", next is "Home" and then "Chooses sddress". Under "Home" the address is incorrect. How can I correct this? What makes it even stranger the address that shows up is my mother-in-law. Wierd?

Update

Did a hard reset last night. Battery drain is significantly less from what I see so far. May of been a calibration issue
