Reminders app

My reminders app seems to be creating a folder with my first and last name, separated by an underscore. I have no idea why this keeps coming back even after I delete it. Any idea?

I'm not able to figure out how recall and Evernote work. Does one need both or just one. Actually if either could offer me a location based reminder that would be fantastic. Thanks for help anyone.

The reminder app lets ¦ you create ¦ a reminder to pop up when you arrive at a
specific location. ¦ Geofencing is the GPS ¦ technology that creates a "fence"
around an address/location so when your ¦ cross over the ¦ "fence" ¦ it will give you
a reminder. ¦ Best example is, your out of stamps so you set a reminder to stop
at the post office and get stamps. ¦ Three days later your driving past the post
office, as you go past the reminder pops up to get stamps. ¦ You don't need to be
stopping at the post office only close enough to cross the geofence. When I set
a ¦ reminder ¦ for when I get home, the reminder will pop up about 200 feet from my
drive way. Hope ¦ this helps. ¦

Google Voice issue
Posted by: "MD" mickeydoyle13@gmail.com mdoyle13
Wed Mar 14, 2012 3:00 am (PDT)
Is anyone using Google Voice with an iPhone having issues with voicemail skipping Google and going to the iPhone instead? Suddenly I'm often getting voicemail to the iPhone visual voicemail from callers I know I gave my Google Voice number to. I had two such calls the past two days. In checking my ATT account, those calls do not show up in the call log. Google Voice history, however, does show them. Yet when leaving voicemails, it went to my phone instead of Google Voice. In fact, after reviewing my visual voicemail and GV voicemail history, nearly every voicemail I've gotten since January has gone to the phone.
I've checked my GV settings and all seem to be OK there, best I can tell.
I'm running 5.1 on a 4S.

Have you tried using the google-provided string to forward your iphone
calls to google voice? This way, even if people call your iphone, the
voicemail will be handled by GV.
On the other hand, if you have called someone with your iphone number, the
recipient may have saved your iphone number to call you back instead of
using the GV number that you have provided them.

I lost that string and its connected tin cans a long time ago, but I think I may have figured out the problem anyway. It seems the setting for call screening must be on. At least that's what I finally found in a help on the GV help site. But I haven't gotten a call today to see if that is it. I do remember unchecking that in my settings a few months ago so the correlation may be correct.
But for a company that was built on search, searching for solutions to problems with its own products sure does take awhile.
Thanks for the input. I'll post back after missing a call.

Chris did u use your iPhone to type your message? If so how is the link fetched and added into the email? Not as plain type but as an instantly openable link? Also in this message my iPhone has changed the link you added into plain type not an instant link, not good function. Is something wrong with my Pphone setting or does everyone experience this?

I thought the Apple male/female USB cable came with my MBP, but after looking at the original packaging, it must have come with my Quicksilver. I don't buy knock-offs so it must have come with an Apple product.
The Quicksilver has no USB port on the front, so a male/female USB cable makes sense.
I assume the "3-way" is passive hub. It is a Belkin swivel hub, but has a port to accept a wall wart. Yes, the power would be split if there were a draw, but like I said, the scanner is the only one that draws power from the USB cable. When the hub is plugged directly into the MBP, there is no power issue with the scanner. The only change is to add the male/female USB cable between the MBP and the hub.
I'm trying to avoid going back to a powered USB hub and the extra power usage.

Windows machines have an industry standard of 500mA (not amp hours, also
right, batteries have a discharge capacity rated in time as well. )

Apple Stock Up 50% Since Steve Jobsâs Death

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Apple Stock Up 50%
Since Steve Jobs ¢Ã¢' '¹s Death via Mashable! by Todd Wasserman on 3/14/12
Defying the most dire predictions by critics, Apple has not fallen
apart without Steve Jobs. In fact, the company has won over Wall Street
with a nearly 50% boost in its stock price since Jobs ¢Ã¢' '¹ death last
October.
At Tuesday ¢Ã¢' '¹s close, Apple ¢Ã¢' '¹s stock price was around $575.64, a 52% jump
since Oct. 5, the day Jobs died and Apple ¢Ã¢' '¹s stock was selling for
$378.25. Of course, there are reasons for the optimism. Apple ¢Ã¢' '¹s
reported blowout numbers in its fiscal first quarter with revenues of
$43 billion and a profit of $13 billion.
Apple ¢Ã¢' '¹s iPhone 4S launch, which came a day before Jobs died, also went
very well, even if some were disappointed that an iPhone 5 wasn ¢Ã¢' '¹t
available. It remains to be seen how the company ¢Ã¢' '¹s iPad launch will go
this month, though Apple is said to be having trouble keeping up with
demand.
Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies and a longtime Apple
watcher, says he ¢Ã¢' '¹s not surprised that the company seems to be faring
well without its ¢Ã¢' '¼spiritual head ¢Ã¢' '½ as he terms it.
¢Ã¢' '¼Apple has built an incredible foundation, ¢Ã¢' '½ Bajarin told Mashable.
¢Ã¢' '¼They were building on it when Steve passed away. ¢Ã¢' '½
Bajarin says in the four or five years before Jobs died, the Apple
co-founder had been putting a lot of his energy into overseeing the
group that includes CEO Tim Cook and Jonathan Ive, senior vice
president of industrial design.
¢Ã¢' '¼He ¢Ã¢' '¹s been mentoring that entire group of executive leaders about how
to carry forth his vision, ¢Ã¢' '½ Bajarin says.
Not everyone agrees that Apple has made a seamless transition, though.
Rob Enderle, principal analyst of the Enderle Group, says Apple was
able to keep up appearances for years after the first time Jobs left,
in 1985.
¢Ã¢' '¼It took three years to become noticeable and seven years to be become
unavoidable, ¢Ã¢' '½ Enderle says of Apple ¢Ã¢' '¹s decline during that period.
Enderle believes Apple ¢Ã¢' '¹s iPad launch this month shows Apple ¢Ã¢' '¹s
vulnerability.
¢Ã¢' '¼People wondered if they ¢Ã¢' '¹d be able to maintain that Steve Jobs wonder, ¢Ã¢' '½
Enderle says. ¢Ã¢' '¼After this launch, people said ¢Ã¢' '¸It ¢Ã¢' '¹s got a nice display
and it ¢Ã¢' '¹s a nice upgrade, ¢Ã¢' '¹ but there was none of the drama, none of that
over-the-top stuff. ¢Ã¢' '½

I still don't know what Evernote is used for and why it's better than a simple notes app.

Evernote is a nice note taking app. You can make to-do lists, task lists and regular notes. You can add a photo with any part of your to-do list, task list or note. You can organize your notes by folders inside Evernote. Evernote calls them notebooks. You can share your notes on Facebook and Twitter. All this besides what was mentioned, email to Evernote. Regular notes takes notes and that's it. Evernote is not for everyone. I do not use it.

Hi Sanjaya - it is a convenient way to save webpages, recipes, photos in one place that is fully searchable. I use it to store webpages of instructions for computer and ios problem cures. I also have some interesting articles I wanted to keep for reference. All that is saved is fully searchable by word and by any tags you give it. Also with their app the info is available on the iPhone, iPad and android tablets. It was one of the first cloud based services available.
If you go to their website they have good ideas for how to use it and there are add on apps that add functionality - like Skitch.

How to set up iphone photo albums
Posted by: "Carol" floridabouvs@gmail.com floridabouvs
Wed Mar 14, 2012 1:22 pm (PDT)
I have a ton of photos on my iphone 4 and would like to take them off the camera roll and put them in albums. I have created the albums, but I can't figure out how to move the photos from camera roll to individual albums. It says on the screen that I should be able to add photos from other albums.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Carol

You did not say whether you are using Windows or Mac. If Mac, you could use iPhoto to move photos off your iPhone. If Windows, hopefully someone here could help.

Hi Carol - if you are using windows connect your phone to the computer with the sync cable. Use windows explorer to navigate to the DCIM folder on the phone. Click on it and folders will open and you can cut or copy and paste where you want.
You can also get an app called Photosync which I love. It will allow wireless transfer to your computer or between an iPhone and iPad if you have both. SLICK.
