I am having trouble downloading lectures from the Khanacademy website. At the bottom right of each segment there is a place to click entitled "download." When I click on it, the segment starts to play on my laptop (MacBook Pro 2011), but I want to save it to play when I am not in wifi range.
Anyone with experience in doing this?
thanks very much for your assistance,

Hi,
http://www.khanacademy.org/
They have a download link and then right click and save as- it will ask you where you want to save it and there you go.
Many videos are on YouTube too.
Hope this works!

Help...for God's sake Montressor...
This is one of my most frustrating Mac days ever, and I've been at it since 1984.
System: iMac 3.06 Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, 24 inch, 500GB HD with 389 used.
I just updated from 10.7.4 to 10.8. Before I switched over, I was having intermittent system wide freezes. Everything would pause from between a very brief blip to a 4-5 second freeze. I posted this problem a couple of weeks ago on this group and got no suggestions on that one. This is really annoying to say the least. So far, knock on wood, iTunes hasn't yet frozen....crap....two quick ones there. This means no audio disc burning...bad bad bad
The second problem is the icons for time machine, bluetooth, wifi, volume, language, volume, and user menus will not drop down. Sometimes they go away completely. A click of any kind surrounds the icon with a darker grey box and they will flash the menu ever so quickly, but not usable in any way, shape or form. This started in 10.7.4 and I thought it was an OS X issue, but apparently it isn't. Is this a battery issue??
Last but not least, I mentioned the .mp4 file I have tried putting in drop box on the mac, but the app on the iPad first gen doesn't see it. I installed the video app, but it doesn't see the video either, even though the iPad screen in iTunes says I have 3 GB of video on the iPad.
So far, on 10.8, several programs are dead, one of which is my favorite audio player app, Vox. It is just deader than a doornail. I liked it a lot because it would play any format in a nice interface and I didn't have to convert anything.
Would someone please help me fix this stuff?
Rick

Sounds to me like your hard drive might be developing bad sectors. You
are probably in danger of losing everything soon if you don't have a
good backup or two.

We can do a ton of diagnostic work, but it sounds to me as if you
have a hosed system, possibly with bits from past OS's that aren't
compatible running.
Your best bet would probably be to do a complete clean re-install of
the OS.
Do you have an external hard drive with a bootable OS on it? If so,
when you boot from it are all of your problems gone? That would be a
big sign that a clean install of the OS would fix your problems.

Glimmer was so good at giving me an easy way to select the search engine of my choice, I really liked it. It is not compatible with 10.8. I don't like using yahoo which is the one used by the new version. Is there anything else that I can use to make other search engines easily available ?
Thank you,
Kay

When I downloaded 10.8 I got a screen that told me it would not be compatible with Mountain Lion. Thanks so much for letting me know otherwise. I am downloading it now.
Thanks,
Kay

Something else to look at before updating to ML, not all current printer software, and drivers are supported. It will be best to check your printers web site and make sure yours is supported. My Canon MP350 was not , it would print but not scan, I had to get a new MP495 which has ML drivers and software support.

Somewhere in the far recesses of my brain, I remember this topic coming up recently.
My son just bought a new MacBook Pro - the non-retina variety of the newest one - and it turns out that all his files - he's a writer - are in Appleworks.
Lion doesn't "do" Appleworks, so he needs to convert the files and there are several hundred of them. They're all just word processing-type things.
Is there a way to do them more than one at a time?

This time I got Warning:SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices

What does that mean and does it require any action?
