What program IS that? And why don't you want to burn from your Finder?

Well, there are various ways of doing it, but a simple one is to click on the Desktop to be sure you are in the Finder, then under the View menu, choose "Customize Toolbar." In the resulting window, find the Burn icon, and drag it to your Finder toolbar. Close the "Customize Toolbar' window.
Then open a Finder window. Navigate to your file you want to burn. Click to highlight it. While it is highlighted, click the "Burn" button you added to the toolbar. And take it from there.

Gary,
First of all we need to find out if your Mac has the hardware to burn DVDs.
It is running 10.4.11 so is a few years old and might have a "Combo Drive"
(can read CDs and DVDs but burn CDs only) or a "SuperDrive" (can burn DVDs
as well as CDs).
In the top left corner of your screen, click the apple to open the Apple
Menu, select About This Mac, then More Info. Select Hardware and tell us
what it says for Model Name, Model Identifier, and Processor Name.
If the triangle to the left of Hardware points to the right, click it so it
points down. You will then see a list of hardware categories. Click on Disc
Burning and tell us what it says for DVD-Write.

Howdy.
Gary, it sounds like you are very new to Macintosh and a few
definitions of common terms would be useful.
If you login to the MacSupportCentral group with your web browser, then
click the Photos item, you will find a Photo Album named Finder Info.
Check some of these photo albums for good info, troubleshooting posts,
Finder info, and even some cartoons and humor.
Click Finder Info and you will see a graphic of a standard Finder
window with a bunch of text in red that shows the names of things on
screen. The graphic is named Finder Window Explained.
The "Finder" is that entire basic screen on a Macintosh. The Finder
includes the Menu bar at top, the Desktop, the file, folder, and drive
icons on the Desktop, Sticky notes on the Desktop. When you open a
Finder window you use it to find files, move files around, rename
files, delete files, and much more.
If you double-click a hard drive icon on Desktop, you are opening a
Finder window. If you double-click the Finder icon on the Dock, you
are opening a Finder window. The Finder icon on the Dock is the blue
and white face icon (like a Cubist face by Picasso). The Macintosh
Finder has been present since the first Mac in 1984.
There are multiple ways to burn a CD or DVD disc on your Mac without
buying software.
Your Mac can burn single layer and double layer CDs and DVDs. To burn
BD discs (BluRay) you need to get a 3rd party program such as Toast.
It can burn Rewriteable CDs and DVDs.
The standard optical drive in all Macs is called, by Apple, a
SuperDrive. If you have a consumer Mac or laptop (iMacs, MacBooks, Mac
Minis) then the optical drive is a "slot loading" drive and no tray
sticks out. If you have a MacPro tower, it has a "tray loading"
optical drive and a 2nd bay for a 2nd optical drive. My MacPro has the
standard SuperDrive and a 2nd BluRay burner that I added.
The Finder has a Menu bar at top of the screen. When you are "In"
Finder it says Finder next to the Apple menu. One of the commands
under the Finder's File menu is the Burn command. You can use this to
burn a CD or DVD disc. The Burn command name changes to reflect what
you have selected to burn. If you insert a blank CD disc, then drag
files to the icon that mounts from that blank disc, then use the burn
command, you will burn a disc.
You can also burn a standard cross platform audio CD disc in iTunes.
In iTunes you can also burn a series of backup data CDs (or DVDs) of
your entire music library (this is called disc spanning) and iTunes
will prompt you to keep entering more and more blank discs until it has
back upped/burned your entire library to discs. You number these discs
and store them away.
You can use Disk Utility to burn several kinds of discs. For example,
you can use Disk Utility (found in the Utilities folder) to burn a disk
image file to disc or to make a bootable Lion or MountainLion
flash/thumb drive of Lion or Mountain Lion.
The Mac comes with programs to burn other kinds of DVDs. Check to see
if you have iDVD on your Mac in the Applications folder.
Many Mac users buy a commercial program called Roxio Toast. You use
Toast to burn all kinds of CDs and DVDs and BluRay discs. Burn data
discs. Burn movies and DVDs. Use Toast to copy a DVD data disc.

That is true about the Mini but the Mac I am on only has 2 USB 3.0 2
Thunderbolt Ports and one HDMI port but no Firewire 800 Ports so I can take
full use of the Thunderbolt to firewire adapter.

I'll be heading out for my annual visit with family members who don't have Internet access. Can anyone recommend a stick that would work with my G4 15" PPC PB running Leopard? Better yet, something similar for a 16gb wi-fi iPad2? It would have to work in SE PA and Florida(a hurricane power loss backup plan).

Has anyone used a Windows 2008 R2 domain controller for file storage on
a mac?
When promoting the 2008 server to Domain controller it claims that
non-microsoft operating systems may not support the more 'secure
cryptographic algorythms'?
I read some Microsoft tech notes, but they talked about changes to group
policies, but only a small portion of the Macs are the domain.
Thanks for any help.
