On the iPad in Settings under Mail, Contacts, Calendar, scroll down to Calendars and turn New Invitation Alerts ON.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for the reply.

I have that button on. I think it is for receiving alerts.

When I go to iCal on my MacBook and double click an event you can edit the event. Down the list of the edit function is a line for "invitees";. You add email address in there to notify others of the event. I have failed to find this function in the edit lines on the iPad Calendar. I am wondering if this function is only found on the MacBook iCal.

Thanks for the reply.

Bill

Hi Bill, I don't have my iPad with me right now, but I'm sure I saw
that feature. I went to create a new event and was able to scroll
down and see something about invitees. I used the "+" sign at the
bottom right.

Hi Diane,

Thanks for your reply!

I just did the same thing. Hit the + button to create a new event but I don't see where on the list "invitees"; is listed.

When you reach your iPad take a look. Maybe I am blind or something. Let me know where you see it.

If all else fails I might have to resort to reading the manual (giggle).

Thanks in advance!

Bill

I don't think it is there on the iPad. This kind of difference in features among similar utilities across different Apple hardware platforms has been a source of hair pulling for a long time.

I've also had lots of fun trying to achieve non-duplicative synching among our devices. Not a clean process, either.

Someone contradict me if I am behind the times but I believe the only way to enter what Bill wants is on the MBP or other full featured "computer";,

JH

All,

Yes I think this feature is presently only on my MacBook iCal.

However I wonder if this feature "pops" up when using iCloud. I have my iCloud off because my old MacBook is still on OS 10.6.8. I back up my iPad to the MacBook and not iCloud.

It would be interesting to see for those of us that have the iPad and use iCloud does the Calendar app have the invitees function? On the iPad this might be a feature available only if you use iCloud?

I have noticed some features between apps and programs MacBook vs iPad do differ in some features.

Thanks All.

This is it exactly. iOS devices can add invitees, if the event belongs to an iCloud or Exchange calendar. If you don't see that option, the selected calendar doesn't support invitations - at least from that device.

Could be. I also use 10.6.8 on my 2010 MBP, do not back up w iCloud though I do "allow" notes & I think, calendars to be shared on iCloud (maybe I have it on and it is just not functioning because I am not using one of the larger cats.

All my iPad calendars are in iCloud so that must be why I see it!

HI, I've joined just a few days ago.

I have a MacBook Pro w/Retina (13") that I just acquired. Great box!

I got the 128Gb version as that was enough for all I do with the exception of iTunes. For that I've moved the library off to an external 2Tb drive attached to my Time Capsule. Works quite well at home which is the only place I actually care about iTunes.

I'm an all Apple house for those things I use on a regular basis. I've got an older Mac Mini, ATV(3), TimeCapsule, Airport Extreme and original iPad. I do have one el-cheapo Windows laptop that I use for Playon/Playlater though.

One thing I noted about this group. During signup, I selected to receive emails as occurring, yet even though there has been a couple of posts, nothing is coming into my email from here. Seems odd as the other Yahoo groups I'm subscribed to send email with no problems.
