Thanks for your reply... Because I have my own set of contacts and my finance already has his own set of contacts I didn't think we could add more contacts with another "neutral" account? Does that make sense?
For example - I have my own iTunes and iCloud setup and on my iPhone 4s a TON of contacts.
He has his own iTunes and iCloud setup and on his iPhone 4s, he has a ton of contacts.
I don't want his already established contacts and he does not want my contacts. But, we do want to have a neutral account we both own that we can enter all of our family contacts in and if possible allow other people access to enter the contact information such as name, address, phone numnber, birthdate, etc...
Is what you are describing allowing us to keep our existing setups??

Not sure there is an easy solution currently. Now Contact used to do all that you were asking on both the Mac and PC. You could share individual categories. I think you may be able to do something if you set up an Exchange server (I believe in an earlier post you said you were not on a Mac). Not sure how to do this though.

If you want to share some but not all of your contacts you'd have to open a new iTunes account (common to both). You'd need perhaps separate new iPhones for this.

I believe they can switch between iTunes accounts on a single iPhone, but I have not done it, only read posts on it.

There is MP3, but the selection is small and some of the authors I like will not license the audiobooks in MP3.

This can be frustrating. I listen to audiobooks all the time from OverDrive on my iPhone. I download the audiobook on my PC to the OverDrive Media console. From there transfer it to my device. It does show as a playlist not an audiobook - but I can deal with that. Unfortunately publishers are still releasing more WMA formats than MP3 formatted audiobooks. Make sure the console is the newest edition and under tools in the console make sure you have the latest security upgrade.
You can download MP3 titles diresctly through the app.
Not sure this helps since I am not sure what folders you are referring to.

Subject: [apple-iphone] Downloading Audiobooks From Library
iPhone 4S, OS 5.1 & Overdrive 3.2.1.0
I am trying to transfer a book I have downloaded from my public library (Imperfect WMA). I realize I have to move it from the phone's "Books" folder to the created "Imperfect" play list. When I highlight it in the "Books" folder it is greyed out and a small icon appears to the left of each section smaller to a no smoking circle with a line drawn through it and I am unable to move it. I have tried re-transferring it several times from Overdrive with the same result. My library will not let me re-download the book as it says I already have it. In case the file might be corrupt I tried to re-download it from the library but Overdrive gives me the error message "All Parts Have Already Been Downloaded"
Help please.
Thanks in advance, Bob

Hi Bob,
I work at OverDrive and we have seen this issue quite a bit ever since
Apple upgraded to iOS5 and upgraded iTunes at the same time. WMAs would
transfer just fine into books where they belong and now they no longer do.
They are considered music because they are a WMA, so they go into a
Playlist which is the title of the book. You will find it under your device
on the left side of the screen in iTunes. As far as the fact that they are
located in Books on the right side, greyed out and have that spinning
circle icon next to them means they are not completely converted in iTunes.
These are the parts or chapters of the title. We have suggested to patrons
that have called about this to delete any instance of the book from iTunes
and also from your device if any ended up on it. Then, re-download the
title from your bookshelf in your digital account on the library's website.
It should let you do it since you deleted it from iTunes. I assume you are
using the OverDrive application to transfer the file into iTunes which
converts it so that it can be played on an Apple device. Try transferring a
couple parts at a time instead of all of it at one time. Most of the time
this turns out to be a timing issue with the conversion process. I hope
this works out for you and if you have any further problems just let me
know. We have straightened this issue out for most everyone. One other
thing, there are a couple of settings in iTunes that need to be set right
too. Make sure that manually manage music is checked on the summary screen
(down towards the bottom of the screen) for your device. Go up to iTunes on
the menu in iTunes and click on Preferences. On the General tab, click on
the Import Settings button down towards the bottom right. Make sure "Import
Using" is set to AAC Encoder. Make sure the Setting under that is set to
Spoken Podcast. Good Luck!

Australian Time on World Clock
Posted by: "mpstupinski@snet.net" mpstupinski@snet.net mstupinski

I've set my World Clock on my 4S to display the time in Adelaide, Australia in addition to the usual major US cities. I just noticed that, when the time is 7:47 am in New York, the clock for Adelaide shows 9:14 pm, No other city shows that half hour difference in what I would expect.
Is Adelaide in a time zone with a half hour difference?
Thanks,
Mike

As Brent, flapdoodle, has confirmed the time is correct.
Australia has many time zones going both east to west, AND north to south. Some have less than whole hour shifts, and some use daylight saving and others don't.

Thanks, Brent and Brent!
That was so counterintuitive to me that I thought for sure I had a problem with World Clock. Live and learn!

Christopher, you would know better than me, but I thought that the you had some time zones that overlapped while going east to west.
Or was I just confused because some use daylight savings and others don't, partially be cause of the proximity to the South Pole.

We have let this get way off topic. If anyone wants to read about time
zones, look here: http://www.rroopstr.com/timezones. html
Now back to the iPhone.

s there an app that will post to both Twitter and Facebook simultane

I post to Facebook a lot but always seem to forget to post to Twitter. I've always wanted a app that I could use to post to both so I won't forget. I've tried a few but they all seem to compromise the Facebook features. Tweetdeck (and most others) and a link to posted photos rather than posting the actual photo to the Facebook Timeline. The closest I have got is 'Seesmic' which posts photos just fine. My main gripe is that it can't handle Facebook check-ins.
Is there an app that will (in descending order of importance (top 4 are essential) :-
Post to both Twitter and Facebook simultaneously
Post a Photo to Facebook Timeline (not just a link)
Allow Facebook check-ins
Shorten URLs
Display URL thumbnails and headings
Allow reply and photos in Facebook Messages
Thanks
Alice

Updated iTunes and Can't See my Phone

I just updated to 10.6.1.7 and went to sync my iPhone. Within iTunes, it doesn't show up in the list on the left to select it.
I've tried unplugging phone and restarting the program and nothing changes. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Never mind! ANOTHER restart and it's showing up now. Guess it just needed an extra boost! Thanks!
