For some reason, I cannot receive the group's mail on my iPod Touch. I
use my me.com account for this group and everything else besides group
mail comes through, but not this group.

I have to bring up Thuderbird on the Mac to get the group's mail.

Anyone ever experience this? If so, is there a fix? I've tried a few
things to no avail.

Thanks.

Apple asks to shut domain belonging to Flashback researchers
3 120 7
updated 12:30 pm EDT, Tue April 10, 2012
Company not communicating with security firms

Apple recently asked a web registrar, Reggi.ru, to shut down a domain belonging to the Russian security firm Dr. Web, the latter company's CEO has revealed. Boris Sharov says the registrar informed him about the request on Monday. Apple's reasoning was that the domain was being used as a command-and-control server for computers infected with the Flashback Trojan. Sharov notes, though that the domain is actually hosting a "sinkhole," a spoofed C&C server used to monitor computers linked in the Flashback botnet.

"They told the registrar this [domain] is involved in a malicious scheme. Which would be true if we weren't the ones controlling it and not doing any harm to users," says Sharov. "This seems to mean that Apple is not considering our work as a help. It's just annoying them." He suggests that Apple was making an honest mistake, if one linked to its failure to communicate. "We've given them all the data we have," he comments. "We've heard nothing from them until this."

Dr. Web is best known for calling attention to the size of the Flashback botnet, which recently reached 600,000 Macs. Forbes notes that another security firm, Kaspersky, validated Dr. Web's findings on Friday, but has neither talked to Apple about the matter nor heard anything from the company. A statement from Kaspersky researcher Kurt Baumgartner says that "from what we've seen, Apple is taking appropriate action by working with the larger internet security community to shut down the Flashfake [also known as Flashback] C2 domains. Apple works vigorously to protect its brand and wants to rectify this."

Sharov is more critical of Apple for taking too long to fix a Java exploit used by Flashback, noting that Oracle solved it over a month ago, and that shutting down a single domain is useless, since there are "dozens" of domains currently running the botnet. Over 1 percent of Macs are thought to be infected, though Flashback is currently being exploited for click fraud, rather than something more serious like credit card theft.

Hi.

You can google quotations on the web. There a millions of sites of them. They are separated by subject or author.

"Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated." Mark Twain

"Silence is golden, but duct tape is silver." Anom.

"If life gives you lemons, make grapefruit juice. Then sit back and let people wonder how you did that." Kigichi Ishiritari

My favorite, and a serious one:
"The mind is it's own place, and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven." John Milton "Paradise Lost"

If you have an iPhone or an iPod, there's apps for that. :D

It also helps if you're a nerd whom reads a lot.

Interesting. What operating system are you running? In Lion and the latest Apple mail, the "Choose Signature" option (default is "None") is grayed out. It seems like that might be where you could choose "Random," but the option isn't active.

Do other people with Lion have the option to select "Choose Signature:.. (anything)"?

Running Lion here, and I have none, random, sequential as choices, as well as any of my 62 signatures.

When I open the preference pane, "All Signatures" is selected, and those choices aren't there. When I click on "iCloud", then the choices appear.

Well now, that's really frustrating! I don't have the option!

I have NO idea what to do about this one. I do have three signatures created, but I can't choose to randomize theme.

Make sure you've got an account chosen in that signatures menu - my options of None, Random or Sequence don't show until I choose the account.

What, you want a site license? That's what costs $70. It's free for home users. Read the site!

Seconded. I also use an Epson 3200. And have used later Epson models at clients' houses. They work beautifully.

Carole
I have an Epson Perfection 3200. It's an excellent scanner but it is not capable of producing excellent image quality from 35mm. I suggest that you go to shutterbug.com and search for reviews of the scanners you are interested in, Photographer/writer David B Brooks has reviewed most of the recent flatbed scanners and the only one that he has enthusiasticly recommended for 35mm is the latest Canon. you did not state the final use of your photos. Excellent image quality would be quite different for large prints or for the internet. It's always helpful to explain what you are going to do when asking for help.

good luck

For a flat bed scanner, it does 35mm well, IMO. You'd probably need a dedicated 35mm scanner for better.

Are there more than one version of iTunes available now? I was not aware of that. I thought they would dump all language components into one version, as they used to do. I like the option of being able to run the system and single programs in whatever language I like.

All updates via the Apple menu worked fine in the past. Maybe iCloud and the iTunes Store make different language versions necessary now.

All the best,
Anna
