The iMums Celebrate their First Birthday with a Giveaway Bonanza - Published on 08/03/12

The iMums have given away thousands of dollars worth of apps and products in their first year with many more to come including a huge giveaway bonanza to celebrate their first birthday on August 8, 2012 with the latest apps and some old classics, iPad/iPhone cases, toys, books and more up for grabs. In April 2012, The iMums efforts were recognised by way of a nomination in the Circle of Moms 'Top 25 Tech Moms' contest, in which they took number one against 59 other great tech-related blogs.
Mirani, Australia - In August 2011, Amanda Powell, a mother of three boys and Apple enthusiast, was sitting in her lounge room with her then four year old watching him play with various apps on her iPhone. Amanda was in awe of just how easily her son picked up the elements of the game without being shown or even being able to read. This was the beginning of her interest in apps for kids and Amanda then began to accumulate quite a collection, much to the delight of her children.
"I decided I would put my newfound knowledge of these apps to good use and created a blog to share my experiences with them, and to inform my friends about which apps were worth purchasing and downloading for their children", says Amanda. "When I started TheiMum, I had no idea how popular the site would become worldwide and just how quickly it would grow outside of my own circle of my Apple loving friends".
Not only has the website exceeded Amanda's expectations, it has developed into something very special and in March 2012 grew to become 'The iMums' when Amanda decided to take on three other mothers from around globe with the same passion for children's apps as her to help keep up with the ever-growing workload - Alison the American iMum; Mary the British iMum (currently living in the US) and Singaporean iMum Grace.
In April 2012, The iMums efforts were recognised by way of a nomination in the Circle of Moms 'Top 25 Tech Moms' contest, in which they took out the number one spot against 59 other great tech-related mum blogs. In addition, earlier this month they also won first place in the Skinny Scoop 'Top 25 Moms in Tech' contest out of 63 other entrants. Several of The iMums' reviews are now also featured in an app, AppStar Picks, alongside five other quality children's app review sites. The iMums have also hosted a series of special themed event weeks including the hugely popular Let's Talk: Speech and Communication week in May and Let's Talk: Children's Books week in June, also a great success.
Since the website's launch, The iMums have reviewed over 250 apps and products collectively and have also made many wonderful new connections along the way from app developers, product suppliers and a fabulous community of loyal readers and followers.
"Hundreds of people are visiting our website each day to read our growing database of reviews, news stories and articles and to enter the many giveaways we offer." says iMum Alison. "We are so grateful that we have this medium to bring these wonderful giveaways to our readers".
