I don't think Java is supported by iPhone.

How are you syncing between Mac and iPhone? If USB then make sure all
contacts are selected. Category might have been selected.
If icloud then make sure you have all contact instead of any specific group
being displayed. Now make sure to click on sync contacts.

Is iCloud Dependable?

I currently use the traditional method of backing up my phone to my home computer through iTunes. My brother is trying to convince me to use iCloud. I am unsure as I've heard some negative comments. I'd like to hear your opinions please.
If it makes any difference I'm using a 4S phone and am an unsophisticated user. Would iCloud backup my apps automatically?
Thanks in advance... Bob

I do not know about it, but what I do is use the traditional method and
switch once in 7/10days to iCloud backup.

Overall I like the iCloud. Sometimes it doesn't put applications on all your devices. I am not sure why.

I've heard Kim Kommando advertise Carbonite - but I've never tried it. iCloud strikes me as a synchronization tool between the phone and various other Apple devices, and from what I have seen it does that job well.
If you have hundreds of Gb of photographs, videos, and other files like me, the most cost effective method is to by one of those 1T byte or larger external drives, and map it as a network drive. Then dump every new file onto it periodically, or let its own software do it on a schedule. I personally buy two, do the backup once a month and put one in a safe deposit box. Once in a while, I send a trusted relative in another city one of my backup drives. When you have as much data as I do - iCloud is not cost effective. Those external drives are about $60, and they are getting cheaper. I buy maybe one or two a year at most.

Carbonite isn't really even a contender in the iPhone backup space.

ON YOUR iPHONE???
That is what the OP is asking about.
Oh, and "b" is "bits", while "B" is "bytes".

Uh - I understood the original post to be about iCloud in general as a backup - not just iPhone.

Of course not - between all devices. Of which the iPhone is one - and can only hold a small fraction of the collection at a time.

Where? I've been wanting to know where a particular photo was taken but can't find how to do it. All I've found is the 'Place' tab in the 'Photos' app. This is next to useless as it shows you all the places where you have taken photos. It needs to be the other way round. I want to know where 'that' photo was taken. Unless I want to click on a hundred pins until I find the photo I'm after, I'm stuck.
Please enlighten me.

The iPhoto app on a the Mac does this. You right click on the photo and select "info". shows a map either by road or satellite.

Ah. I thought we were talking about attaching GPS data to our images (which the iPhone does automatically). Hence the discussion of connecting a GPS device to a DSLR camera.
To read out the data for a particular photo, you need something that can read the internal EXIF data attached to the image when the image was created. I note that there are several iPhone Apps under $2 that seem to do this.
I used Graphic Converter on my Mac:
