Storm Distance Calculator App Set To Free Just In Time For Frankenstorm - Published on 10/28/12

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Switchback Media LLC announced Sunday morning that Storm Distance Calculator is now free. All you have to do is tap the lightning button when you hear lightning, tap the thunder when you hear thunder, and then Storm Distance Calculator does the rest. Within seconds you will know the distance any storm is from you. With the growing anticipation of this year's most destructive storm, Switchback wanted to give people the opportunity to download their storm tracking app for free.

Denver, Colorado - Switchback Media LLC announced Sunday morning that Storm Distance Calculator, which has most recently been available in the iTunes store for $.99, will now be offered to users for free.

Many people along the eastern seaboard are bracing themselves for the potentially devastating approach of the monster storm system known as "Frankenstorm." The storm, which is predicted to be a hybrid of Hurricane Sandy, an early winter storm moving in from the West, and a surge of Arctic air from the North, is set to crash into the New Jersey coast sometime Tuesday morning.

Switchback Media company leaders, who are all originally from the east coast, have been in contact with their families over the past few days and understand the seriousness of this late-season system. Struggling to find ways to help out, they decided that temporarily setting Storm Distance Calculator back to free in the app store was the least they could do.

"We felt it was necessary to contribute in whatever small way we could in order to ease the tension during this otherwise gloomy situation," stated Switchback CCO Mark Imperial, who experienced the last year's Hurricane Irene first hand.

Switchback is not attempting to make light of this terrible storm, but their intention is rather to add a little bit of fun and excitement to an otherwise gloomy situation. Aside from serving users who might be caught in the storm, Storm Distance Calculator can also be used as a form of entertainment for youngsters.

"My sister uses Storm Distance Calculator with her three year old to take his mind off the storm, said Switchback CEO Chris Allan. "Rather than anticipate each clap of thunder with fear and anxiety, my nephew now excitedly waits for thunder."

The app, which was originally intended for outdoor enthusiasts to prevent themselves from getting caught in thunderstorms, might just take on a new function in light of the fast-approaching system known as Frankenstorm.

Features:
* Integrated Facebook and Twitter functions
* Option to measure in miles and feet or kilometers and meters
* Sound option
* Clear instructions as well as the background behind the calculation
* Large and easy to read "Lightning" and "Thunder" buttons to make sure there is no confusion
* Split-second results generation

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* 5.2 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Storm Distance Calculator 1.0.1 is now available for free in the iTunes store in the Weather category.

Orchid App Update Announced by NerdsGeeksGurus, LLC - Published on 10/29/12

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NerdsGeeksGurus, LLC released Orchid Notebook 1.5.0, an update to their Orchid app for the iPhone and iPad mobile devices. Orchid Notebook allows orchid hobbyists and growers to track their orchid collections and wish lists. The app also offers a reference section aimed at new orchid enthusiasts. Released in September, Orchid Notebook enhances the database portion of the app by providing an additional field to track orchid collections and allows collections to be viewed by genus.

Mount Dora, Florida - NerdsGeeksGurus, LLC released an update to their Orchid app for the iPhone and iPad mobile devices. Orchid Notebook 1.5.0, released in September, enhances the database portion of the app by providing an additional field to track orchid collections and allows collections to be viewed by genus.

The grex field was added to the database to allow users greater flexibility on detailing individual orchids in a collection. The grex is used to describe cultivated plants in way that is not necessarily related to the biological classification. The addition of the grex field allows users to put more details about the name of an orchid.

"One of the most requested updates to the Orchid Notebook App is the genus view," stated Patricia Conrader, marketing director of NerdsGeeksGurus, LLC. "The biggest benefit of having the orchids listed by genus is that it allows users to sort through larger collections easier." The view shows each Genus name and displays the number of orchids there are of that genus in their collection.

"Orchid Notebook 1.5.0 is the beginning of a series of incremental updates scheduled over the six months," according John Conrader, CEO and app developer for NerdsGeeksGurus, LLC. When asked about future revisions to the orchid app, Mr. Conrader replied, "The next update will include growing instructions for additional orchid genera aimed at new orchid growers and a wish list view." He also hinted that a desktop version for Mac users is in the works.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* 18.3 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Orchid Notebook 1.5.0 is available for $2.99 (USD) in the iTunes App Store in the Lifestyle category. There is also a free version available that has limited features that allows for 5 entries.

Pocket Button Soccer 3.3 for iOS- "What's Hot" in 10 European App Stores - Published on 10/29/12

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Indie developer Zoltan Kovacs today announces Pocket Button Soccer 3.3 for iOS, an update to his board game for 1 or 2 players. The soccer sim is played on a field with 3 disks for each side and a small soccer ball. Taking turns, the players kick the ball by aiming one of their disks toward the ball, flicking their finger to shoot and releasing it. Featuring the low-friction game physics of an air hockey table, the disk shot may hit other disks, causing a chain reaction, creating a new position.

Dunaharaszti, Hungary - Independent developer Zoltan Kovacs today is pleased to announce Pocket Button Soccer 3.3 for iOS, an update to his highly successful board game for 1 or 2 players. The soccer simulation is played on a field, where each side has 3 disks that represent soccer players. Taking turns, the players kick the small soccer ball by touching one of their disks, aiming at the ball, flicking their finger to shoot and releasing it. Featuring the low-friction game physics of an air hockey table, the disk that is shot may hit other disks, causing a chain reaction among all 5 other disks, creating a new position. Listed in "What's Hot" in Board Games on the iTunes App Stores of 10 European countries, Pocket Button Soccer is based on the popular table game.

Feature Highlights:
* 1-player mode - play against the computer
* 2-player mode - play against your friends
* Static and Motion modes
* Team selection - 32 countries from Algeria to Uruguay
* User friendly interface

The game physics of Pocket Button Soccer resemble the low-friction effect of an air hockey table, with each disk capable of blinding speed and then gradually decelerating. During his or her turn, the player touches any of their 3 disks to select it and shoot. Once the disk is selected, the player draws an invisible line extending from the disk, whose length and angle determines the velocity and direction of the disk once they lift their finger off the screen. No shot is made (and the disk does not move at all) until the player's finger is lifted from the screen, so it is possible to carefully plan and alter shots. The longer the line extending from the disk, the faster it will go, independent of the speed of the user's finger in making the line. Although it is possible to play at a fast pace, where it feels like the disk has been propelled by the player's finger, in reality the disk does not move until the line is completed.

The dynamics of Pocket Button Soccer allow players to make combination shots, hitting a disk (belonging to either side) with a disk, which then hits the ball. Each shot leaves behind an animated motion trail of the disk and the ball. Following a goal, when all the disks and the ball come to rest, the game briefly displays the motion trails of every disk that moved during the previous shot including changes in direction.

In the 1-player game, users compete against the iDevice. Its level of play is not perfect; it attempts to match the level of its opponent. In the 2-player game, opponents sit facing each other with the iDevice between them. The game tracks turns and scores, and 10 points wins. Players can choose from 4 different playing fields, and soccer players can displayed using one of 32 different flags or the insignias of club teams from 32 different countries.

Finally, the game includes two modes of play, available for single or multiplayer gameplay: Static and Motion. In the slower, more strategical Static mode, players must wait until all soccer players/disks stop moving before taking their turn. In the faster, more tactical Motion mode, players do not need to wait for all the soccer players to stop moving before taking their shot. There is a 6-second limit for each shot, and if a player does not shoot within this time, the turn automatically goes back to his or her opponent.

"This game will no doubt appeal to fans of the real thing, but the beauty of this game is its simplistic, yet addictive gameplay and how it should appeal to everyone, from people who aren't fans of the sport to the real soccer fan," commented developer Zoltan Kovacs.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* 13.1 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Pocket Button Soccer 3.3 is $1.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category. A free, try-before-you-buy version can be downloaded. Review copies are available on request.

Voice Secretary for iOS: Pocket Assistant with Automatic Voice Reminders - Published on 10/29/12

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

G-Power today announces Voice Secretary 4.2: Pocket Assistant with Voice Reminders for iOS, an update to their business app that allows users to record their own voice as a reminder, which will be played back as an audible alert at the specified time. With background recording and playback, there is no limit to the number of reminders or their scheduling. The top app of its kind, it has been listed in "What's Hot" in Business apps in 20 App Stores, including China, France, Russia, and the UK.

Xi'An, China - G-Power today is pleased to announce Voice Secretary 4.2: Pocket Assistant with Voice Reminders for iOS, an update to their popular business app that allows users to record their own voice as a reminder, which can be easily scheduled to be played back as an audible alert on a specified date, at a selected time. Featuring background recording and playback, there is no limit to the number of reminders that can be recorded or their scheduling as alerts. Audio reminders may be emailed from within the app, and the update includes a Nag feature, which will repeat the reminder up to 15 times at intervals of 1 to 30 minutes. New in this update are the ability to sync voice-reminder events with iOS Calendar, backup and restore via Wi-Fi, and full support for iPhone 5 and iOS 6. The top app of its kind, it has been listed in "What's Hot" in Business apps in 20 App Stores, including China, France, Russia, and the UK.

Feature Highlights:
* Timesaving - just launch the app, record, and set the playback alert time
* Auto reminding - receive reminders even when offline or working in other apps
* Easy to add reminders - click the big button, shake the iDevice or start the recording by proximity sensor
* Email reminders - send voice reminders to friends and family via email
* Support for recording in the background
* 30 different, pre-recorded alert sounds
* Time delay function - set a default interval to eliminate setting a playback alert time
* Backup and sync - backup audio data to a computer, Dropbox, or iTunes via Wi-Fi, and sync voice files in Dropbox and iTunes
* Nag - a voice secretary who will remind you repeatedly, so you will never again miss a meeting
* Support for multiple languages - U.S. English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish
* Dozens of reminder sounds - Choose your favorite reminder sound out of 30 ringtones or a custom recording
* Sync voice-reminder events with iOS Calendar
* Backup and restore via Wi-Fi
* Full support for iPhone 5 and iOS 6
* Security guaranteed - optional passcode lock on the app

To-dos come to mind throughout the day, and there is no more convenient way of capturing them than by voice recording. A voice memo can contain much more detail than a text memo, simply because iDevices are relatively inefficient at text input. Voice Secretary lets users record short or long reminders, save them, and schedule them as alerts, faster and more accurately than reminders input via keyboard. And reminders are stored in both list and calendar formats for easy review, editing, or deletion.

Creating a voice reminder in Voice Secretary is accomplished in three easy steps. First, tap the red Record button. An LCD audio-level meter is activated during recording. When finished, tap the red button again to end recording. Second, tap one of two available Save buttons, Save As a Reminder or Save as a Voice Note. Third, if the saved audio is a Reminder, spin the picker to set the date and time for playback. Reminders can be set to repeat at any time - minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months after the initial Reminder has been delivered. With support for operation in the background, the app does not need to be open to automatically play back scheduled reminders.

Also included is a Quick Reminder feature, which permits the user to select any one of 16 different presets (In 5 Minutes to This Time Next Week) as their default alarm setting. This Quick Reminder feature eliminates the need for the user to specify the date and time that their recently recorded memo will be automatically played back as an audible alert. The app includes 30 different reminder voices and sounds, which can signal the upcoming playback of the recording.

Voice Secretary also includes a variety of optional features, such as shake initiated start or stop recording, vibrate iDevice prior to playback, password protection, built-in tutorial, iPhone proximity sensor starts and stops recording, recording back-up and restore via Wi-Fi, sync to Dropbox, sync to Calendar, and snooze control to repeat an alert later.

"With Voice Secretary, you will never miss any important meeting or event, even when you are engaged in business or driving a car," commented Hellen Steven of G-Power. "It works full-time, as your personal secretary. Everything is readily available, even when the app is turned off. Its an amazing app, especially for those who find it hard to organize their schedules successfully."

Language Support:
* English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
* Requires iOS 4.0 or later (iOS 6 tested)
* 13.9 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Voice Secretary 4.2 is $3.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Business category. Review copies are available on request. A free version is also available on the App Store. Voice Secretary is also available for Android.

New iBook: Recent work by Richard Mclean, towards A/r/tography - Published on 10/29/12

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Drawing, Recent Work By Richard McLean focusses on drawings created for the exhibitions 'Back to Basics', and 'Return from Pessimism.' Richard takes us on a precursor of his journey into A/R/Tography to study a Masters in Education at Victoria University, Melbourne. This collection of 60 or so images along with a personal narrative and conceptual animations, gives an insight into where Richard has come from as an artist to his envisioned multimedia installation entitled 'The Universal Embrace'.

Melbourne, Australia - Drawing, Recent Work By Richard McLean focusses on drawings created for the exhibitions 'Back to Basics', (2011) and 'Return from Pessimism', (2012), Richard McLean takes us on a precursor of his journey into A/R/Tography to study a Masters in Education at Victoria University, Melbourne.

This collection of 60 or so images along with a personal narrative and conceptual animations, gives an insight into where Richard has come from as an artist to his envisioned multimedia installation entitled 'The Universal Embrace'. Here is an excerpt from Richard McLean's artist statement from most recent exhibition 'Because I like to draw, Return from Pessimism.', Melbourne, Australia, 2012.

'Why draw? Because I like to.

Throughout my life, through it's peaks and troughs, I have always created images.

In the past, some imagery has been born kicking and screaming from my soul.

Recently however, I am feeling joy, getting chuffed about observing and creating, expressing not purging as such, and feel quite exultant and excited in the process.

Im recently not creating images out of necessity like the time of what seems long ago. I just sit en plein air, or in my studio, quiet and unbothered, and they meditatively flow out from my hand, not noticing my cigarette extinguishing itself.

I have always respected the process of mark making, with simple mediums, what it means, and the people who do it.

I like how base it is, how some sort of intuitive narrative is born from some sort of cosmic ballet on a sheet of paper, just from an inkwell and a brush. New creation -and new life.

My art has seen many forms thus far, but now it seems like its a new, still existential and subjective, yet personal visual epoch that is brimming and exciting to execute.

I live in Footscray. Some people refer to it as Footscary, or Footscrazy. But I love watching the people, the diversity, and the oasis that I'm grateful to have as our garden for now, and a space to create and collate.

The freight trains rumble past here in the west of Melbourne, and rattle the windows, and our lounge is so close to the busy street it looks as though every type of person is in our front garden.

Sometimes a drawing is inspired and created in a time synonymous with hitting a sweet spot on a cricket bat. They are in increasing frequency, happy to say. The world and the moment and the spirit and the brush combine, and I feel as a human, I'm doing what I supposed to be doing, and I'm thankful and grateful.

In this work lies the acceptance of beauty, and in observing it, there is a difference between 'looking' and 'seeing'. A paradigm change of mindset means I have to let more compassion into my eyes, mind and heart, and then crystalised onto paper.

In the affirming words of the Dalai Lama, 'Compassion is something really worthwhile. It is not just a religious or spiritual subject, not a matter of ideology. It is not a luxury, it is a necessity.' It re-affirms something Ive always had despite some past work, and is more obvious here.

In another quote from His Holiness, if we apply an art context to it: In the face of all the challenges we face today, is my optimism about the future of humanity idealistic? Perhaps it is. Is it unrealistic? Certainly not. To remain indifferent to the challenges we face is indefensible. If the goal is noble, whether or not it is realized within our lifetime is largely irrelevant. What we must do therefore is to strive and persevere and never give up.

An affirmation of nobility and beauty, endlessly striving, and finally, a return from possibly necessary pessimism. I'd like to think this recent body of work sings visually to the viewer, in a way that in the work you can feel that they didn't struggle to be set free, in fact, joyously yearned to be born. 7 Unique Reasons to Play Hoops! Free Arcade Basketball - Published on 10/29/12

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Gopher Apps introduces Hoops! Free Arcade Basketball 1.0, its new fast paced basketball arcade game for iOS devices. Use your finger to shoot balls into a moving basket. Sinking moneyballs gives you more balls, 2x scores, and more. In Multiplayer, moneyballs let you send attacks like bowling balls and smaller rims to your opponent. Play over Game Center or locally through Bluetooth against your friends or enemies. Send them special attacks like taking away their backboard & mess up their shots.

Honolulu, Hawaii - Gopher Apps is happy to announce the release of Hoops! Free Arcade Basketball 1.0, its new fast paced basketball arcade game for the iPhone (iOS 4.3+). Use your finger to shoot balls into a moving basket. Sinking moneyballs gives you more balls, 2x scores, and more. In Multiplayer, moneyballs let you send attacks like bowling balls and smaller rims to your opponent. Give it a shot! (pun intended).

1. No other basketball game on the iPhone has these game mechanics:
Holding your finger down and aiming with a dotted line is no way to shoot a basketball. With a touch screen the only way to shoot a basketball is to shoot it with your finger. That's right, shoot it with your finger. The velocity of your finger determines how high and how far the ball goes.

2. Easy to learn. It's like driving a car:
The first time you press the brake pedal on the car, it's a bit sensitive. As you learn to drive, your control of the brake pedal gets to be impeccable. That's exactly how shooting is in Hoops. Shooting bank shots, swishes, or bouncing it off the ground becomes an extension of your thoughts.

3. Head to Head multiplayer matches:
Play over Game Center or locally through Bluetooth against your friends or enemies. Send them special attacks like taking away their backboard and mess up their shots!

4. Gigantic rims, moving baskets, bowling balls, trick shots:
The "Arcade" in the name is there for a reason. Like in the arcades, the basket moves forward and back, up and down. It gets larger, smaller, and even loses the backboard at times.

5. Different Game Modes:
Play single player and score points to unlock moneyballs. Moneyballs help you score even higher with things like a bigger basket, faster ball return, and more balls. Or you can play the 24 timed Challenges and challenge yourself to make only swishes, shoot with beach balls, or make some trick shots with your new skills. For Game Center players, you can compete for the world record and beat your friends.

6. Did we mention Multiplayer?
Multiplayer is by far the funnest aspect of the game. Compete against your opponent by scoring as much as you can. When you make the special Moneyballs, you can cause your opponent to have to turn their device upside down to play. Add us as a friend and challenge us!

7. It's Free:
Let the advertisers pay for this game so you can enjoy some good fun arcade basketball for free. This game has no coins or virtual currency so there's no waiting around to play.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* 18.3 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Hoops! Free Arcade Basketball 1.0 is available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category.

ScaleMaster HD 3.0 Released - Published on 10/29/12

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York based RoGame Software announces the release of ScaleMaster HD 3.0 for the iPad. ScaleMaster has long been a favorite amongst students, teachers, beginners and professional musicians. In version 3.0 ScaleMaster HD adds many new features including tuning presets, history and support for 5 and 6 string bass. The banjo was added to ScaleMaster's instruments and new interface tweaks include a much improved scales menu, direct positioning and root popovers and full support for Retina.

Rochester, New York - RoGame Software is proud to announce the release of ScaleMaster HD 3.0 for the iPad.

Scales are elementary to all musicianship. They provide flavor and harmonic structure, but are at the same time fairly complex. ScaleMaster is designed to help in several key areas concerning scales. Scales are picked from a master menu and displayed in notation and ScaleMaster's virtual instruments simultaneously.

ScaleMaster's notation view includes detail like halftone steps between notes, interval descriptions (i.e. root, fifth, etc), note names, degree, note index and highlights chord tones. It can be displayed in bass, treble, alto and tenor clefs and allows for global transposition, a feature useful for horn players. The main staff system displays one octave in ascending or descending mode while the secondary staff system shows both directions at once.

Virtual instruments in ScaleMaster are a fully playable graphic representation of the selected instrument. They can be shifted in position and indicate scale tones, note names and more via gum drops with adjustable detail. All five available instruments - banjo, bass, guitar, piano and mandolin - come with high quality samples and support additional downloadable sound libraries.

The main scales menu has been redesigned in ScaleMater HD 3.0. The menu now transparently overlays a much larger section of the screen and makes it easier to browse through the catalog of scales while providing more context. The menu adds index numbers and features live draggable rating controls. Roots are now selected via the Circle of Fifths control of the main screen or via the new roots popover available from the middle toolbar. The roots popover allows for more esoteric root selections like Cb or B# while the circle control allows quick access to the most commonly needed root selections.

The banjo is a brand new instrument that was added in ScaleMaster HD 3.0. As the banjo has made forays into Jazz in the recent years many banjo players have been looking for instructional software to improve their improvisational skills. Guitar players have been looking into the banjo as well and now have a valuable cross reference. ScaleMaster supports four- and five-stringed banjos with tuning presets like Standard Tenor, Chicago, Irish and more.

Custom tuning of the banjo, bass, guitar and mandolin instruments in ScaleMaster has undergone a complete overhaul. Strings can now be tuned up to 7 semitones higher or lower than standard tuning. Additionally ScaleMaster HD 3.0 includes all common standard, alternate and open tunings as tuning presets for each of these instruments. This allows for fast switching between the custom tuning and any of the presets.

A new history window in ScaleMaster HD 3.0 pops up when tapping the scale's title and keeps a tab on the last 16 scales displayed. It is implemented in such a fashion that going through any of the visited scales via the history window will not generate new history. So the last scale seen remains the top item. Scale rating controls in the history window are live as in the main scales menu and tap dragging a rating will set it.

Other new features in ScaleMaster HD 3.0 include support for 5- and 6-stringed bass, a direct positioning popover and per-fret position indicators for stringed instruments (banjo, bass, guitar and mandolin). The applications graphics have been redone with inclusion of hi-res support for Retina on iPads 3 and 4. Support for iOS 6 was added as were localizations into Danish and Norwegian.

Designed for the beginning musician as well as the professional, ScaleMaster HD is an excellent tool towards advancement in theory and scales in particular, making it easy to look up a scale in seconds, getting a taste of the flavor of a particular scale by listening to it, or finding out how to play it on one's instrument. With version 3.0 ScaleMaster HD continues to be the go to application for students, teachers and professionals.

* 211 scale types

With the latest graphic effects, camera tracking, and game-physics engine, Blow 'em Up offers a panoramic gamespace and the ability to control the direction and flightpath of missiles that can approach targets from any direction and at any angle.

Feature Highlights:
* Launch and guide ground-based missiles to kill zombies
* Missiles can have one of three types of warhead
* Zombies are on, in, under, or beside wooden scaffolds
* Zombies can be killed by a direct hit or by the collapsing structure
* 50 levels of play, Achievements, and Leaderboards

If Angry Birds, one of the most successful iOS games ever, is the benchmark for dynamically controlled shooters, played against live targets situated on multi-level, open structures, then Blow 'em Up must be acknowledged as having set a new and higher standard. In every measure of gameplay, Blow 'em Up has succeeded in besting the best.

What is immediately apparent is that the zoomable gamespace in Blow 'em Up is huge. Set in a grassy field, with forests and mountains in the background, players follow their rocket as it ascends and they then guide it to the target. At its maximum altitude, the views are spectacular, with sunlight breaking through the clouds and detailed mountains, trees, and grass below. Prior to a launch, players can zoom in/out and swipe up/down and left/right to view the launch pad and target in perspective.

Missiles are launched one at a time, and another launch cannot be made until the present warhead has exploded (by hitting something or by self-destructing in flight). The launch pad is approximately 100 meters to the left of the zombie targets, and once launched, the missile maintains a constant velocity. Players guide the rocket with a wheel controller that resembles the helm of a large, sail-powered vessel. While the rocket is locked in the z-axis (it cannot move forward or backward), players can guide the rocket's nose accurately, producing graceful arcs or unwavering linear flight.

Each of the game's 50 levels contains 4 to 10 zombies, and all of them must be destroyed to move on to the next level. The animated zombies are skulls with tiny hands where one would expect to see ears. Identical in size and appearance, their jaws open and close, and their eyeballs roll around in their sockets. Zombies do not change position, and all sit on the same z-axis as the missile. The elaborate scaffolds are constructed of wooden planks and small triangular overhangs that provide the zombies some cover from angled aerial attacks. Zombies may be fully exposed at the top level of the wooden structure, protected at lower levels of a structure, or completely vulnerable on the ground beside the scaffolding. Direct hits by a missile always destroy a zombie, and most debris (exploding or collapsing) will also crack the zombie's skull apart.

Various strategic factors are found at different levels. Will players prefer more missiles, or fewer missiles equipped with more powerful warheads? Should players target individual zombies, or aim at multiple targets, attempting to weaken the foundations of the scaffold? Guiding the missile so that it flies parallel to the ground is dangerous and difficult. Should players attempt this effective, though risky, maneuver, or should they attack from more traditional vertical angles? Attacking the left side of the scaffold is easier than reversing course and attacking the right side. Should players try to attack from both sides?

Players will appreciate the attention to detail in the game. Mountainous terrain, forests, and plains appear realistic from the air and close up. The rocket exhaust does not fade out, it remains onscreen but dissipates into a formless cloud. Explosive debris can fill the screen as it flies toward the viewer. Small pieces of explosive debris may be blown so high that bits and pieces are still falling while the next missile is in flight. The camera view automatically zooms out as the rocket ascends and zooms in as it descends, offering detail, perspective, and dramatic viewing angles. Blow 'em Up offers Angry Birds action, but adds 3D effects and sophisticated user control after launch.
