Some people still only want and enjoy vinyl because they feel there is a certain richness that cant be duplicated digitally. I went through the process of digitizing my vinyl collection for two reasons, to have on my mp3 player and to be able to retire my turntable before it needs a new needle. I picked up a stereo jack to usb adapter years ago to do this. It was cheaper then getting a whole turntable to usb item that some stores still sell.
The analog to digital conversion is a piece of work.

I'm a movie buff too but we use Netflix and the public libary. I'm a recovering hoarder and once your living space gets filled up
having too much is a problem at least for me.

That's an interesting goal, what happens when you reach it? I've collected music over the years but always let go of my collection and
started over. First it was records and reel to reel, the cassetts, now it's mp3. It's all transitiory. Now I enjoy music I've never heard of before.
Music is music.
Good luck with your collection
