In theory, but not in my experience. I get less Page-Outs since using Boost&Memory.

In theory, utilities that show you things like how your RAM is being used are helpful. In practice, they aren't necessarily showing you what you think they are.

That's what I thought. But Snow Leopard doesn't seem to be able to
access a significant portion of the RAM that Safari and Shockwave
have been using, even after quitting Safari.
I'd like to try Purge to see if it will work for those occasions I
don't want to restart to free up RAM after I have quit Safari.
I'll still consider adding more RAM to my iMac 7.1 someday, but for
now I'd like to work with what I have (the 4GB official Apple
maximum).

When I reently tried to burn a DVD on the Superdrive in my
2006-vintage Mini (1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo) I got errors.
I bought one of those eyelash-equipped cleaning discs and ran it in
the drive for a few minutes (per instructions) and it will now read
discs but still will not burn.
This drive has burned maybe 50 discs in its life, and read maybe as
many. That's not much use.
I presume that dust has clouded the laser's path.
Has anyone had any success cleaning the lens in such a drive (they're
used in many of Apple's laptop models as well as the Minis)?
Thanks,
Dave

I suggest trying a different brand of DVD, as Superdrives are notoriously
fussy. As an example, Verbatim are often recommended here yet I found them
very poor in my PowerBook. TDK, OTOH, work every time.
If you still have no luck, using an external drive might be better and
cheaper option than replacing the Superdrive.

I bought an Apple TV, and in the process of exploring it I tried to play music from iTunes on my iMac only to get the message that I had to sign up for iTunes Match to access the music. I never considered doing this before and seem to remember that there were disadvantages, including no longer having an up-to-date library installed on your devices if you were not in a position where you could connect with iCloud.
I've learned to be leery about my memory about stuff like that, and much of what I got about iTunes Match from a Google search seemed to be somewhat dated, so I decided to ask for opinions here. Would anyone here please help me on this?
Thanks,
.................Mike

You do not need iTunes Match to stream music from iTunes on a Mac to AppleTV.

I have a Mac mini running SL and an iMac on Lion, both 2008 vintage kit. When I connect my compact to the mini, Picasa springs to life and shows the Import page as it should. When I connect my compact to the iMac, that does not happen.
I am aware of using AutoImporter - I use it as a stop-gap at the moment but want Picasa's 'save-in-folder-with-date-taken-date' functionality.
Can anyone tell me how to get Picasa/iMac to behave and import my pics, please?

You must have made a setting change for the mini to do that. On the iMac,

Well, that's the end of THAT benefit! As of 15 September Amazon is
charging tax on shipments to California. There are a half dozen other
states where this is also true.
