I have a 10 pack box of DVD-R by Memorex. Should I not be using those?

Make sure the new disc is set to "Mac and PC". That would might work around the possibility of a problematic disc format. I don't think using the OSX "Burn Disc" method will work unless it really is a Linux disc. If it's a Mac format, "Burn Disc" will ignore the hidden files.

Purchasing Toast 11 will cost me $80 after a mail-in rebate, and although I don't mind spending the money, can I be assured that this Program will indeed create a bootable CD? I presume that this Program will do more than the vanilla burn program that a Mac offers.

I still cannot get a reassuring response from Crucial that the iso file they are providing us is actually bootable, if I am phrasing that properly.

Try this free app. Works for 10.7 10.8, etc. I have 10.7 and 10.8 on
thumb drives. I used 10.7 at one point and it works like a charm.

Try logging in by holding the ship key down after entering your password and while pressing Login. It keeps startup items from loading which maybe causing some problem.

Other than that I would suggest reinstalling and using a new user, getting the stand-a-lone combo updater, update with it, run Software Update until you get no new updates... Then use Migration Assistent bring in the old users to test.

No "fixes" worked, so I reinstalled 10.6, updated all software to 10.6.8 and all other Apple apps.

I then ran Migration Assistant, chose Migrate From Another Mac, and clicked the "Use Network" button. All that's happening now is the spinning "bat boy" cursor. The 6-digit passcode is displayed on this computer (nothing on the host computer), but nothing else happens (for hours!).

The computers are both properly networked and can access the Internet. They are on the same "leg" of the router and are connected through a simple gigabit switch. Sharing is turned on on the host computer (don't know if this is necessary, but it is so).

Is there any reason this shouldn't work (a.k.a what am I doing wrong)?

Thanks,
Dave

And next to the spinning "bat boy" icon (not the cursor) it says "Looking for other computers...".

It worked on the 2nd try.

In Eudora, each incoming message has a button at the top labeled "Blah Blah Blah" which, humorous as the name is, provides detailed header information such as server routing, sender IP, etc.

I want to know at which of my several email addresses a message is being received. The "To" field of the message in question contains "group list" or such, which doesn't tell me much.

Is there a way to see detailed header information of a message?

Thanks,
Dave

Apparently this is legitimate. Here is the Apple information link:

Well, 9to5 is a legitimate site. so if you did not want to click on the link, go to Apple. And you will find it is legitimate program, but not a recall.

Barbara, I own an affected hard drive. On Monday I phoned Apple. They are
"ordering the part" and will schedule a technician to come out and replace
it at no charge.
However, you do need to back up all your data. If you use Time Machine on an
external HD, or if you have cloned your internal HD to an external, then it
will just be time and energy involved in reinstalling everything.

If you don¹t have those items, you might consider doing them, or backing up
all your files, so you can replace them to your new HD.
You can also set up your appt through the apple site.

We have 2 iMacs, but only one has the defective HD. Since Apple has not
contacted you personally, maybe you are not in possession of one of the
defective HDs.
