OWC (eshop.macsales.com) is a particularly good 3rd-party Mac vendor
because, in addition to great prices, they provide great customer service
and information. You can look up the exact model of your existing Mac, or
one you plan to buy, see its max RAM capacity, see a video on replacing or
adding RAM, as well as other components, and get help on the phone or via
on-screen chat. They also have a rebate program - you can look up what your
RAM is worth, and send it to them. So, the RAM you removed to replace with
higher-capacity RAM, is worth a few bucks.

You could probably save enough on an OWC RAM upgrade and rebate, to pay the
difference between a 21" and 27" iMac.

HTH

Regards,

Peter

Hi,

I updated my iTunes yesterday to the newest version. Now, when I play an album, it will play about 3 songs and stop. The app doesn't quit, but will play 2-3 songs and stop. I have to go back to the album and start the next song and it will play that and one or two more and stop again. Is there a setting I am missing? There probably is, but I have looked, and I can't find a setting to play the whole album. Any help please?

Yep, as I mentioned I had found the d/l page for 11.0.4 and the specs include 10.6.8 but inquiring minds want to know why their SU isn't doing what it's supposed to.
I d/l'ed the .dmg but, as one is likely to do, scratching my head as to why it is this way.

I did go to the apple forums to pursue this further, as I hate to post here without doing my own research first, and there was one person who had this issue but it was due to not being logged in as Admin which I am.
https://discussions.apple.com/message/22187134?ac_cid=tw123456#22187134?ac_cid=tw123456

I'll post again if any "cure" for this comes along. The update can wait in my downloads folder for a few days. :)

Even though I don't use the bells & whistles in iTunes, I finally
decided to pay attention to Software Update today and installed the
11.0.4 iTunes update via Software Update on 10.6.8 without a hitch.

Hi Pat,

Thanks for your continued assistance. I guess I'm dense but it still isn't clear to me how to use iCloud to sync my email while still retaining my current email address. I'm unwilling to give that up.

And will iCloud sync all my Mail folders? I have many.

Thanks again.

Best,

Jim

I'm sorry to say that I'm not the best teacher & am stumped. After following the previous instructions that I posted, mine 'just worked'. Hopefully another list member will chime in or you could give Apple tech support a call. Sorry!

I have it set up as IMAP which seems to do what I want in principal. But it is with Earthlink because they host my domain, and they have a mailbox total size limit which is so small that I can't keep much of my mail on the server.

Has anyone tried Mac Pilot email app for iOS?

I ask because they have released a version for Mac OS X that is on App Store but seems expensive.

Yes. It's buggy. The idea is good but if you have any mail account other than the standard Mac/AOL/GMail etc. it can't handle it properly. Support response was fast but hopelessly inadequate. I'm sticking with the standard Mac mail app for now.

I'd like to double check the name of this app.

There is no Mac Pilot or MacPilot app for iOS, and the Mac Pilot is a fix-it app, not an email app. The developer's other big app is a cleaner app, which are seldom good apps to use.

The brevity of Dan's post is also uncharacteristically short, but it is from an iPhone. Dan posting from an iPhone is an unusual first.

Howdy.

Apologies.

Mail Pilot is the correct name.

I do post from and read on my iPhone and iPad from time time time.
Mostly when traveling.

Mail Pilot has been available for iOS but just recently redone for Mac
OS X and, IIRC, still in beta.

If you are working on documents on the internal hard drive, the system should automatically save it for you.

Check your settings again. If it is new call AppleCare.

Thanks, yes I don't think I've lost anything.

Now I'm not so sure I phrased the problem correctly. I don't think it is that it won't wake up, because that implies it was asleep, and I have it set to never sleep when plugged in. Now I think maybe it is just occasionally shutting down completely. That is more what it acts like.

Yes, it isn't a week old yet. Guess I'll try AppleCare.

Best,

Jim
