Interesting….I don't have it and I just bought my MacBook this past April.

I will call and ask about that.

Thanks!

Yes, it's part of the "iLife" suite. If it's not present, it's been deleted
by someone.

I don't have those either!
I've heard of them but don't have them.

Those are the other iLife apps. It seems that the whole iLife suite is
missing (iLife also used to include iDVD and iWeb but those were dropped
from 10.7 onwards (Jul 2011)).

Did you buy the Mac new?

BTW if you want a photo library app and have difficulty obtaining iPhoto,
Picasa would be a good substitute.

I bought it from Best Buy as new, but open box.

Looks like someone deleted the iLife apps. If you have another Mac in the
house, you could copy them over.

Maybe you have them, but they just aren't in the Dock? Just a thought.

I called Apple to ask if the iLife suite was still preloaded on a new Mac before I posted earlier & they said it is. If the unit is under warranty it would seem that Apple would replace the software for free.

I looked on the Launchpad and didn't see them there either. Where else would I look?

Joan,

try Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
I don't know why, but only some of the subscribed calenders show up under Accounts and you can unsubscribe/delete them there, not in the Calender app.
I cannot tell how you get there exactly, because my OSes are in german and I don't always know the correct terms in english used by Apple.

I would like the whole *&^%$ thing to go away. It is not listed under the calendar list to the left. I do have a "subscription" calendar called "Birthdays" that lists those birthdays I have entered in my contacts. But when I click on one of the phases of the moon, it doesn't give me any URL that I can go to or any other information about the calendar.

Thanks, Gijzette, that worked like a charm. In response to Forrest, I, like the others who posted on this issue, just have a "Calendars" list I can see on the upper left hand side of the calendar that one can either view or hide. There is no calendar called "Phases of the moon". In any case, they are gone now and I am happy.

Regards,

Joan

Getting extremely frustrated here..... when I do anything on a web page in Safari - like typing this - I get the spinning color wheel. Not just for a sec or two but for several minutes.

Activity Monitor shows "Safari Web Content" as hogging the CPU.

What is causing this and how can it be fixed?

TIA

It is adverts and other objects on web pages that use Adobe Flash that is slowing down your Mac.

Look at a Safari add-on called ClickToPlugin. It turns off Flash content by default. If you want to view a particular advert or video just click on it.

I found that by installing this my mini sped up considerably.

Cheers
