I know that Image Capture can often do that. Does Preview use the same
drivers?

Thanks. I can't scan using Preview...

I managed to find the install disk, and even though I got a pop-up saying the CD wasn't compatible with my OS (10.8) it did install the important part of the driver, because I was able to scan the documents I needed. (The install hung at 80% and I had to force-quit to be able to eject the CD).

So I think I've found a temp workaround. It's still odd that the driver software wouldn't install properly, though. I sent a note to Canon support.

Thanks. I'll try that if I lose it again. Right now it seems to be working.

Again, using 10.8.4, Preview scans anytime every time.

But how do you scan? I need the scanner to actually copy the image. Without that, what do you do?

Confused,
Barb

So the new MB Air's Wi-Fi is faster for exactly that reason. Nothing like
the claimed gigabit speeds, but still a worthwhile improvement. Which
router? The Apple or some other?

The Apple 11ac Extreme has had mixed reviews. Have you tried any others?
The Asus, Linksys and D-Link seem to be fastest.

Otto we have the D-Link at the office and yes it is faster then the Airport
Extreme ac router and on the D-Link n is much faster. I just have the new
Extreme at home just because it is easy to set up.

Do you mean that *intranet* Wifi communications are no faster (between 2 AC computer on the same AC base station)?

Or that your downloads from the internet are no faster?

Because the latter is typically limited by the pipeline speed from the internet.

There has been some complaints about the Extreme ac that it fast on both ac
or n but not that fast. I have 20 down 10 up here at home speed wise it
might be a little faster than the older extreme. But the Extreme ac is
slower than the D-Link ac at the office and we have the same up and down
speed as at home. What do like is how strong the signal is on it that is
outstanding.

There is a Mac App called "App Expense Monitor", which reads through your Mobile Applications directory, extracting data to present you an easily sorted list of your *Mobile Applications*.

I don't know of a comparable thing for Mac App Store purchases.

I get an email from Apple for every iTunes store purchase, and compulsively save all of them, but again, that's only iTunes Store, not Mac App Store.

Interesting but somewhat unhelpful.

You can view 10 lines at a time, sorted by date.
You canot search, re-sort, see a larger list, or export the data.

Must both Macs involved in sharing a scanner have the driver for the scanner installed?

Thanks,
