If you rank the data usage of everyone in the region you are in for the current billing cycle you are in the highest usage 5%. The data volume for the top 5% threshold goes up and down as data usage of the statistical population goes up and down month to month.

I do think Verizon's approach has less impact on the consumer since the high usage users are only throttled when they are on a particular tower (and presumably backhaul) that is overloaded.

That sounds like, if you are in a densely populated region, you are likely
to have a higher threshold than a more sparsely populated region with fewer
subscribers. I guess I won't be moving to Nome anytime soon.

The speed I'm seeing 0.14 mbs about like 2g edge. I'm not sure it was any faster at the renew of bill cycle.

Alice, would it make any difference that I use most of my data at night, 11pm-5am?
It is a little frustrating to pay $400 month for 5 phones and only mine is a hog. Only one of the others is on unlimited. I'd actually pay a little more but that's not what we agreed to.
I can't even use utube now, it's so slow.

My main use is podcasts on stitcher as drive from Dallas,TX to ElPaso,Tx and back every couple days. At least that's where the most data is used.

Im just dealing with it.

Be nice if that woman in California that managed the two assaults one of which was on bank of America would
Take interest.

Bad press works wonders.
Maybe Fox news Shepherd Smith will make a fuss.

What's odd, is that I'm being 'throttled' for the second month and I'm only used 376mb of 3g service! I stay on my wifi 99% of the time using Comcast but because I'm one of the 'Loyal Unlimited Customers' AT&T has now seen fit to harass me by throttling my connectivity even when not using THIER service!

I've been checking www.speedtest.net and everything looks fine at the first of the month but toward the end of the month my connect speeds drop to less than that of a 56k modem... then the first it comes back up. I'm not even using the 3g??

Can they control the speed of the iPhone 4S and iPad on ANY connections? Surely this is not true is it? If not, why is it choking down to nothing toward the end of the month?

When you test with speedtest are you sure you turned off your wifi setting? I found that Comcast has been throttling my speed down when at home on wifi and I have complained a few times. They will fix it while you are on the phone with them.

Not a clue, I am afraid. When I called OtterBox, the person that I talked to said that I should get the case for the 4S, and that would solve the problem. You might try calling OtterBox and see what they say.

FWIW, some of the information that I read said that taking a black sharpie and coloring in the inside of the opening in the OtterBox case around the sensor would fix it. If you can't return the case, you might give that a shot. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.

I figured it out. I thought it would dim in any app but it only does when actually on a call. Otherwise Siri asks to help you.
