I highly recommend 1Password Pro... One of the best password managers I've ever used.

I use SplashID Safe. It syncs with my iMac (lion) and my iPad. It also
syncs with my Dell laptop. In addition to passwords, it stores much other
data, including bank account numbers and PIN numbers, credit card
information, insurance policies, etc. The app itself can be password
protected and offers an easy way to copy/paste user IDs and passwords into
log in screens. I have use versions of this program for years and have been
very satisfied. Check it out at

My word! Finally another user of Callpod Keeper. I have been using it so long that I am grandfathered into the sale, rather than the subscription version, and I will not use their cloud server syncing. I sync only to my laptop.

slow script

All day yesterday and now today, too, when I'm on Facebook, I get the
following message a LOT:
Slow script
Safari is no longer responding because of a script on the webpage
(73) Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/ ). Do you want to stop
running the script, or let it continue?
+++++++++++++++++
I asked a FB friend about it and he said it's my computer and not FB.
My computer is old and slow -- a G4, OS 10.4.11. Is there anything I
can do about this too-often message?

Louise,
The first thing I would try is another browser. Firefox may behave
"nicer" with that script.
If you don't already have it, here it is:
<http://support.mozilla.org/ >en-US/kb/ Installing% 20Firefox% 20on%20Mac
Apparently the Firefox download page will detect the version of Mac
OS X on your computer and download the correct version to your Mac.
Good luck,
Dave

My guess: FaceBook changed the page to include a new (or changed)
script. Your version of Safari (being older and not fully compliant
with today's standards) couldn't figure out what to do with the
script.
Not having the latest version of OS X, unfortunately, has a cascading
effect: you can't run modern (and fully compliant) versions of
application programs.
Firefox may or may not fix this problem (Firefox states that older
versions are not updated with the latest changes as are newer
versions). Be sure you have the latest version of Firefox that will
run on your OS (in the Firefox I have, I choose "About Firefox" and
click the "Check for updates" button).
Good luck,
Dave

Recently I find that I'm encountering all kinds of problems that I'm
attributing to my older computer, so I just ordered a Mac Mini from
Amazon. Hopefully, this will put me on the road to recovery. But then
I'll have to buy new software, but fortunately, I can get educator
rates for that. :-)

I've had "slow script" situations on rare occasions on more recent versions of OS x and Safari. What usually fixed it for me was to shut down Safari, then reboot the Mac. Seems like that does some garbage collection/cleanup.

If I were in your shoes, I would first contact Apple Support and make the situation clear to them. If they did not offer an acceptable solution, I would tell them to expect a class action suit.
Sounds like a far more valid basis for legal action than "Antennagate."

You could always do the obvious, at least it was when Lion was
released: Go to your local Apple Store and download it there.

MacBook Pro A1286 shuts down
Posted by: "Ardell Faul" ardell@icehouse.net computer_monitor_service_company
Sat Feb 25, 2012 11:56 am (PST)
This unit has the 15.6 inch screen and a 320 Gb hard drive. It will
boot up after a pause, but it gives the start up disk full message, will
not charge the battery, and shuts down after an indefinite period of
time. The owner says it had liquid spilled around it and it some might
have gotten inside from the bottom up. I have taken the bottom cover
off and don't see any evidence of corrosion but I have not pulled the
logic board out yet.
To further complicate the issue, I installed a new blank hard drive in
an attempt to install a fresh copy of OSX to see how it would run, but
the unit will not boot up from the optical drive either.
I am wondering if since the hard drive is so full (less than 200 Mb of
free space) that could be causing the shutdown, and the battery not
charging and the optical drive not working properly are separate issues.
If any of you know if a full hard drive could be causing the shutdown
problem I would appreciate any feedback here.

What type of internet connection do you have that is limiting you to 450MB per day? That is a serious question, since I am used to cable or DSL.

I'm in an motor home, connection is by satellite, Hughes Net. However it not that bad for me as I'm no longer full time and have cable at home. Now I spend about 3 winter months in Florida and about 3 summer months on the road in the summer.
I guess my peeve is I can't download the latest OS updates for my wife's or my computers until I get home next month.
I don't think people realize just how much internet activity their computer have. I looking at Little Snitch right now and there is activity every few seconds. Some of that is local, which does not effect the internet.

Jim,
On Hughesnet, you get unlimited downloads between 2AM and 7AM ET. You can
use a download manager such as Folx to start and suspend/stop your
downloads between these times.
Getting ML on DVD or USB is really not a solution, unless you don't want
point updates. As an example, the last update to Lion was 1.2 GB, as I
recall.
I wonder, since Best Buy sells Apple computers, will they let you use their
wifi? I agree that comments about "just go to an Apple store" are rather
ignorant since you said that would involve a 200 mile trip. Only two
land-based homes that I own are within 100 miles round trip from an Apple
store. And, even while traveling, getting to an Apple store can be a major
hassle.

Is that a trick question?
However I try to give an answer: About two hours one way, then maybe an hour or two to carry the 27" iMac from the car into the store(I'm 80).

Fwd: [macsupport] Synchronization bug/problem with iCloud.
Posted by: "Bill Morton" billmorton999@gmail.com redpup99

I have a MB Pro 17", 2.2g Intel Core 7, 8g Mem, (Early 2011) running
the latest OSX (10.7.3) which has a synchronization problem with
Address Book.
I started out with an address book contents of about 300 items. I
then enabled iCloud, and the system apparantly went through
a synchronization.
I then examined the content if address book on iCloud. It appears
correct and has about 300 items in it.
However, address book on the Mac Pro is . . . . EMPTY! Zero
items; the synchronization step apparently wiped the whole
dxxn thing clean!
I really don't want to type in 300+ items again to get the
MacPro back to normal. Since the iCloud has the info,
is there any way to get it to act as the master and re-synch
to regain the lost data on the MacPro?
Also, I have an older iPhone with Version 4.2.1, which I
surmise is NOT compatible with iCloud because of its
age, (although I keep it up to date with version updates
up to now). This iPhone has a valid 300-item Contacts
on it. But now I'm afraid to back it up or synch it with
the MacPro for fear it will erase all the entries on the
iPhone to make it match the MacPro.

So, all of your devices are now showing no AB entries?
Is it just the Mac Pro that has no entries?
Have you checked iCloud preferences on the devices that have 0 entries,
if some of them do indeed still have entries?
