How can I find out which apps are pulling data in the background? I have Push off & Fetch set to manual. Checking usage I see Mbs being received every day with what seems to be minimal usage.

Even easier:
You can allow iTunes to "Sync when device is connected". iTunes will treat each iDevice on it's own.
We ( my wife, iP4 & I, iP4s ) use the same iTunes, same ID, same PC and auto sync both devices. You tell iTunes what to sync to each device and it does JUST that each and every time you sync. You pick which apps, which play list, etc for each iDevice.
There is no need to manually do that each time you sync an iDevice.

Yep, we do this too. My iPhone, kid's iPod, my old iPhone which I keep
around as an iPod, and the little shuffle each have their own identity.
There's also a setting to choose whether *new* stuff goes onto a device by
default.

Unsolicited Phone Calls and Text Msg.

I know that the iPhone itself does not have away to block unwanted or telemarketing calls.
I have set up an id with silent ring for those after the first call. Now I am starting to get Txt msg about sells stuff. I am setting that up the same way. What gets me is we (the end user) are paying for these unwanted incoming phone calls and txt msg. Is Apple go to address this issue or is there an App that will do it?
I like most of you did not buy my phone so I could get a bunch of unwanted "stuff".
Frustrated

Who is your service provider? If it is AT&T, maybe this will help.

I think since you pay for service with a specific tier, you should be able to use all the data in the specific tier before AT&T sends you anything about your data usage. It shouldn't matter what time of day you use the data.
I haven't found, as of yet, a lawsuite against AT&T or any other provider doing the same things. I read about the complaints only.

IIRC the 'warning' messages are required by one of the federal gummit
agencies...FCC, FTC, etc. again, IIRC, these messages are a result of a
lawsuit and serve as a 'reminder' to subscribers who are approaching not
only their data limits but also their phone minutes. the whole idea was to
help prevent overage charges. i've received similar 'warnings' from VZW on
my phone minutes.

So people weren't monitoring their data/minutes usage themselves? It's nice to have the cell provider monitor the usage for that but I also monitor it. Always have.

alice, there will always be people who will try and pass the buck to anyone within arm's reach...nothing is ever their fault.

The only thing I would say is watch what they send you. I was sent a replacement that turned out to be a rebuilt phone, not a brand new one.
