Buzz Attack: An Indie Game Where You Play an Old Man Who Swats at Flies - Published on 10/03/12
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Indie developer, Enest Szoka, introduces Buzz Attack 1, an iOS and Android survival game where players play an old man who defends a park from a rampaging horde of flies coming out of a trash can. Buzz Attack is a game of quick reflex screen tapping merged with side-scrolling action and an absurd story. Highlights in Buzz Attack include buying flyswatters, bug spray and other items from a suspicious man wearing a trenchcoat, as well as the ability to switch the game into portrait or landscape.
Ottawa, Canada - Buzz Attack is a game of quick reflex screen tapping merged with side-scrolling action and an absurd story.
Nearly one year ago indie developer Ernest Szoka started experimenting with a physics game engine to create his first mobile game. On a whim he decided to make a simple rag-doll physics arm that would smack a hovering object (in this case a fly) every time it got close. Amused by his simple creation he decided to turn it into a game, where a player controlling the main protagonist 'Gus' would walk around and hit mutant flies emanating from a trash can in the park. Buzz Attack was born!
Highlights in Buzz Attack include buying flyswatters, bug spray and other items from a suspicious man wearing a trenchcoat in the park as well as the ability to dynamically switch the game view into portrait or landscape. Unlike traditional side-scrolling games for touch screen devices, Buzz Attack has no controller buttons to clog up screen space and instead relies on intuitive tap and finger placement to control the character. Leaderboards, achievements and 4 difficulty modes round out the game.
Language Support:
English, French, German, Polish
Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* Universal app optimized for display on all iOS devices
* 7.7 MB
Pricing and Availability:
Buzz Attack 1 is only $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide through the App Store in the Games category. Both the paid and free versions are available for iOS and Android.

123 Kids Fun GAMES - quantity and quality - iOS app for preschoolers - Published on 10/03/12
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
123 Kids Fun Apps announces 123 Kids Fun GAMES 4.1 for iOS, an update to their treasure chest of learning games for kids 3 to 7. 123 Kids Fun Games includes four sections for learning and play with bright colorful animations. The learn sections offer a detailed tutorial, specific for each game, preparing children to enjoy the play modes. With clear directions, colorful animations and accurate prompts, 123 Kids Fun Games has created a great preschool learning environment.
Warsaw, Poland - 123 Kids Fun Apps has announced 123 Kids Fun GAMES 4.1 for iOS, an update to their treasure chest of learning games for kids 3 to 7. 123 Kids Fun Games is so much more than simple ABC's and 123's. The app includes four sections for learning and play with bright colorful animations. The learn sections offer a detailed tutorial, specific for each game, preparing children to enjoy the play modes.
To help learn the alphabet a picture is displayed on a canvas screen with the appropriate letter, isolated beginning sound, and word presented above. Tapping the picture will animate the object. I especially like the little worm who appears from the apple. Two games are included for ABC's. At the crossroads you can choose from basket sorting or sorting with a prickly purple "hedgehog". I thought the simpler game was with the buddy. This might be easier for smaller children as they pop the balloon holding the object with the corresponding beginning letter and Hedgie will catch it for them. After completing three questions your child will get to place characters on the Ferris Wheel and after completing the entire alphabet they all get a ride. When sorting the items into baskets children will have to remember what it stared with then drag and drop it to the correct lettered basket, a trickier finger maneuver is required. Each correct answer will reward them with a cheering crowd.
Its as easy as cleaning their room to count how many items to put on the Number Train. The train pulls up with a numbered car to fill with the waiting cargo. In the beginning young conductors load everything with a simple drag and drop motion. As the level progresses so do the number of cars and a sorting dimension is added. Although there is more to sort, children will find it easy to match the color of the cargo to the color of the car and successfully complete the job. A puzzle game follows each correct response. Numbers are introduced to children on a a clothes line, in the tutorial. Beneath the number block and word, illustrations are hung on the line to represent that number. Touching the picture will count them off individually.
A quirky cat acts as the barker in identification. Tapping on the requested item places it on the canvas and spells the word beneath. In the demonstration each item is displayed individually and tapping the drawing will activate an animation.
Small children will love to feed the adorable characters in the Shape section. The animals are picky though so they'll have to choose the right shaped food. They'll draw on what they learn in the skywriter tutorial where they pilot the airplay to trace shapes in the puffy clouds. As the menu is presented a verbal cue for the shape is given and a visual cue is displayed. When playing shape sorter a wrong answer receives a "nm" response from the diner, prompting players to try another shape to get a happy tummy response. And the shapes aren't limited to just the basics either, adding ellipse, rhombus, and trapezium.
The iPhone Mom: "In addition to the 4 learning sections there are freeplay areas as well. I was particularly impressed with the realistic sounds of the piano and xylophone. Many children's apps seem tinny to me but the effects in 123 Kids are clear. Also included for play are balloon pop, an animal body shuffle, a sticker picture gallery and a photo booth. Kids can add pictures of their own family in the photo area."
Positive feedback is given throughout the app and when an incorrect response is needed its short and simple with a try again attitude. With clear directions, colorful animations and accurate prompts 123 Kids Fun Games has created a great preschool learning environment.
Feature Highlights:
* 7 different games and 4 different learning modules in a single app
* Discover the relationship between sounds/letters, sounds/words, words/objects, numbers/words, and numerals/counting

Turning the whole world into an optical illusion - Published on 10/04/12
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PlanB Labs today announce ThinkInvisible - The Game 1.3.1 for iOS, an update to its most original quiz/trivia game. ThinkInvisible - The Game will change your perception about how we see things, what's important in a picture and prove how deep-rooted the cartoon characters, logos and other pop cultural visual elements that surrounds us are. It's like getting a new pair of glasses that changes your perception entirely. Version 1.3.1 introduces a new purchase screen and minor fixes.
Tallinn, Estonia - PlanB Labs (an awesome indie game developer studio backed by GameFounders, Europe's first gaming accelerator program) released an iOS game, one you haven't seen before. Mixing up Optical illusions with a puzzle game, it created something so genuine that you have to try out if you're into unique things. ThinkInvisible - The Game will change your perception about how we see things, what's important in a picture and prove how deep-rooted the cartoon characters, logos and other pop cultural visual elements that surrounds us are. And above all, the whole thing looks really amazing. Here's your chance to rediscover the million-times-seen pictures and have some fun!
The ThinkInvisible technique is based on the phenomenon invented by Gaetano Kanizsa to show the power of Gestalt psychology. If we want to sum it up in one sentence: We show you only the most important details, forcing your brain to uncover and complete the rest. There's a charming trailer that shows exactly what is it all about. Inspired by him, we went on experimenting and turned the whole world into an optical illusion. As a result, our pictures got features on more than 300 design blogs and we reached millions of people on the web. We've got so many positive feedbacks that we started developing ThinkInvisible - The Game, hired a sound talent who created a lot of really fun soundbites that you can hear if you solve a puzzle.
Many times you'll encounter the "Ohh, it's on the tip of my tongue" feeling when playing with ThinkInvisible. No worries, just post the picture on your Facebook or Twitter wall and ask your friends for help. Perhaps the solution will appear sooner than you'd expected. If they couldn't help you, fear not, there is a possibility to "Reveal the answer" at the cost of points you've collected.
Device Requirements:
* iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* 30.3 MB
Pricing and Availability:
ThinkInvisible - The Game 1.3.1 is Free and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category. There are 2 sets for free in the game, another one that you can unlock by sharing ThinkInvisible on Facebook, and the rest you can get for $1/Euro0.79.

Serious educational app - Splash Math, crosses 1 Million downloads - Published on 10/04/12
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Splash Math apps cross 1 Million downloads on the App Store. Used in over 6,000 schools and 15,000 teachers, Splash Math apps have been rated very highly for their common core alignment and comprehensiveness. Splash Math users solve 1.2 Million questions daily and have shown increase in Math accuracy, making Splash Math apps popular among homeschoolers, regular parents and teachers alike.
Redwood City, California - A little more than a year back, StudyPad debuted with Splash Math Workbook for Grade 3 - the first common-core aligned, comprehensive math workbook app on the app store. 1 Million Downloads and 5 grades later, Splash Math apps are a testament to the fact that serious educational apps are here to stay.
There has been a lot of noise about educational apps that teach individual concepts through games, but from the download numbers of Splash Math apps, it's evident that parents and teachers want their kids to stay close to what is being taught in school and prescribed in the syllabus. Kids have to appear for standardized tests and Splash Math apps fit in the bill perfectly.
StudyPad has maintained a fine balance between learning and fun. Every day 1.2 Million questions are solved by Splash Math users and 80% of these users have shown improvement in accuracy by 10% or more in solving math problems. This is proof enough to claim- "StudyPad has hit the bull's eye by striking the right balance between gamification and common core."
Each of Spalsh Math workbooks (Grades 1 to 5) literally contain infinite math problems that are grouped into chapters and skills. Kids earn points when the do their math problems and using these points, they can earn fun rewards in the Prizes section.It may sound simple; but using shorter and interactive worksheets combined with great prize anticipation, the user experience compels the kids to ask for more. Even more happier are the parents and teachers; they are in love with the weekly email reports, which analyse the kids' strengths and weaknesses
It's not just at homes, Splash Math apps have also made it to the classrooms in a big way. Over 6,000 schools have included Splash Math in their pilot programs and 15,000 teachers use it daily. Over 3 million user accounts registered on Splash Math suggest that each of the apps benefit at least 3 kids. This is just the beginning; StudyPad has big plans to disrupt education in classrooms.
Key Features of Splash Math apps on iPad:
* 5 Apps cover entire math syllabus of Grades 1 to 5
* Aligned to Common Core State Standards for each grade
* Adaptive algorithm generates dynamic questions
* Interactive Math Problems
* Weekly Email reports
* Fun rewards for kid's engagement
Device Requirements:

* Interactive Math Problems
* Weekly Email reports
* Fun rewards for kid's engagement
Device Requirements:
* Requires iPad with iOS 4.0 or later

Fireplace HD+ acts as a HD virtual fireplace that comes with a selection of audio and visual customisable options. Devon, United Kingdom - App developer Rory Buckley today is pleased to announce the release of Fireplace HD+ for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The app acts as a HD virtual fireplace that comes with a selection of audio and visual customisable options.
Many months ago indie developer Rory Buckley started researching the history of the fireplace and how it has evolved over the years. This unique history included looking back at the ever popular Yule Log, including the all-time great Yule Log TV program, a family favorite every Christmas. His research also revealed how a fireplace (whether traditional or modern) can help aid relaxation.
Taking the magic from the Yule Log, then combining the general relaxation feel of a typical crackling fireplace inspired him to start developing an application that boasted these features, along with todays impressive HD video abilities. So after months of planning and developing, Fireplace HD+ was born.
Highlights in Fireplace HD+ include the ability to play audio along with the crackle or blaze of your chosen fireplace theme. This works very impressively and creates a somewhat magical atmosphere. There are a selection of seasonal audio tracks that come built-in to the app, allowing the app to function without a data/wifi connection. iPad users have the added luxury of being able to play a selection of radio stations, these stations range from Jazz, Oldies, Classical, Relaxation & Christmas (wifi required). another noteworthy highlight would include the sleep timer, this allows the user select a specific time for when the audio & video will both stop, allowing your device to enter 'sleep' mode. Fireplace HD+ has made a promising start, appearing as a featured new app in the entertainment category and gaining many good reviews.
Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.0 or later
* 64.0 MB
Pricing and Availability:
Fireplace HD+ 1.0.1 is only $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Entertainment category.

The Traditional World of Print Cookbooks is Changing, Forever - Published on 10/04/12
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kinetic Art announces Look & Cook 1.1, offering a newly invented format designed especially for the iPad device. Conceived together with Israel's top chef, Meir Adoni and Israel's top food photographer, Dan Peretz, Look & Cook provides a step by step guide for each and every recipe accompanied by detailed HD imagery, making the most difficult recipes highly accessible. The app features hundreds of HD images, never ending image scrolling, hidden videos, voice detection and much, much more.
Tel Aviv, Israel - In the past two years, Kinetic Art, an Israeli startup, worked secretly on a project of transforming print cookbooks into the digital world of tablets. The result was just revealed: a visually stunning digital experience. The newly invented format, designed especially for the iPad, supercharges the visual experience of food photography, while also offering a tremendous cooking aid in the kitchen.
Look & Cook, the iPad app based on the new format, provides a step by step guide for each and every recipe accompanied by detailed HD imagery making the most difficult recipes highly accessible. Look & Cook, was conceived together with Israel's top chef, Meir Adoni and Israel's top food photographer, Dan Peretz. This exceptional, creative team had one goal in mind: how to help people enjoy cookbooks on their iPad as much as they did (and still do) in printed form.
Cookbooks have been around for quite awhile, starting with manually written recipe notebooks and in recent decades turning into one of the most popular categories in printed media and one of the most popular gifts. An intimate look at a cookbook reveals several main points that contribute to our perception of overall quality: how good the will the food taste, the recipes' clarity, accuracy and ease of preparation, and the aesthetic appeal of the visual aspect and art within the book.
"We saw for the first time the opportunity to transform and extend cookbooks into a digital medium only when the first iPad was launched, when the screen was magnificent and its rich media capabilities seemed to offer a solid ground for such innovation, way before the Retina. There are many others around the world who saw this opportunity and built iPad and iPhone apps for cooking, some became very popular. But we never wanted to create an app, we wanted to create a successful digital version for cookbooks." said Ronen Mizrachi the company's creative director.
Look & Cook by Kinetic Art, fulfils their big promise by offering first and foremost a continuous visual experience where the user can immerse himself in the culinary world created by the Chef, here his unique "voice," and really understand and feel his inspiration and pleasure in making food. The company has taken the iPad medium to its limit with hundreds of HD images, never ending image scrolling, hidden videos which provide a pleasant surprise, voice detection for hands-free cooking and much, much more.
About Look & Cook:
Featuring the top 44 recipes which were hand picked from the menus of Chef Adoni's restaurants in Tel Aviv, a collection that presents the chef's best selection. The recipes are accompanied with more than 700 high-definition images and short videos embedded seamlessly in a step by step guided cooking concept. The app was designed for use in a real kitchen, hands free with large texts for reading from a distance and voice control for in-recipe navigation and most important simple timers for tracking time critical instructions. The app is available for purchase at the Apple Store for $4.99. The company has also created a free introductory version, for getting acquainted with the cookbook including the first six, complete recipes.
About Chef Adoni:
Israeli born Chef Meir Adoni, 35, is chef-owner of Catit and Mizlala restaurants in Tel-Aviv. He studied at the Cordon-Bleu in Sydney, Australia and La Notre culinary school in Paris, France. He interned at Cieo in New York, NY and Arcadia in Jerusalem, Israel, and has worked at restaurants all over the world including Arzak in San Sebastian, Spain, Alinea in Chicago, Illinois and Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Adoni's unique blend of haute cuisine, street-food, authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes and a variety of global influences embodies New Israeli cuisine. His cooking, while mostly not Kosher, offers a portrait of a sophisticated kitchen, grounded in local products and traditions, while being open to and inspired by the world. Within Look & Cook, Adoni reveals his spin on traditional dishes like Shakshuka with merguez sausages and greens and shares tricks of his signature dishes, including his giant ravioli with a runny egg-yolk.
Device Requirements:
* Compatible with iPad
* Requires iOS 5.1 or later
* 56.1 MB
Pricing and Availability:
For getting acquainted with the cookbook including the first six, complete recipes, Look & Cook 1.1 is offered as a free version, available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Food & Drink category. The app is available for purchase for $4.99 (USD).

Speed Kittens just hit the App Store: Hot-shot kittens take to the skies - Published on 10/04/12
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Arizona based grey may LLC today introduces Speed Kittens 1.0, the company's debut action game developed for iOS devices. Speed Kittens focuses on your reflexes, quick thinking, and aiming. Zeppelins that are carrying milk will try their hardest to get to the other side of the screen, and your job is to crash kittens into them and spoil their plans. Speed Kittens has detailed animations, beautiful moving backgrounds, game center support and more.
Prescott, Arizona - grey may LLC launched Speed Kittens worldwide today. iPhone(R) (3GS or newer) and iPod touch(R) (3rd generation or newer) owners will be able to get Speed Kittens for $0.99 on the App Store(SM).
To us humans an action packed world where kittens take to the sky on jet packs, sky boards, and makeshift wings with paw-spun propellers to crash into zeppelins and each other may just seem like a dream. In the world of Speed Kittens, however, this is reality. If you have ever seen a kitten on a jet pack, you've probably noticed how clueless they can be when it comes to hot shot aviation. Luckily, they have you!
A typical scene in Speed Kittens will have kittens flying around aimlessly or free-falling, with zeppelins speeding by. Uh-oh! A zeppelin is getting close to escaping! Quickly you tap and hold onto a kitten. Next, while still holding, you use your cat-like reflexes to dodge two other careless kittens about to crash into your feline ace. You have the shot now, you make a long swipe towards the zeppelin and release, launching the kitten. Nice shot! Thanks to your sniper aim another bottle of milk is saved.
Speed Kittens features:
* Detailed animations bring the game to life
* Beautiful moving backgrounds
* Random gameplay elements; every time you play, something will be different
* Fast-paced gameplay. Get ready for a rush
* Lovable characters
* Unlockable Kittens! Anything from a Ninja Big Cat to an R Lion with aviator sunglasses
* Practice Mode, Realistic Physics, Power Ups, Game Center, Achievements, and much more
Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* 19.4 MB
Pricing and Availability:
Speed Kittens 1.0 is only $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category.
