Hi all:
I am new to this forum (though I have been lurking on the iPhone and iPad forums for a long time). I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and have been slowly setting it up. I installed Parallels 8 which I left running at home today (that's another issue but I digress).
Yesterday I set up the mail on my MacBook. I have three e-mail accounts. GMail, Hotmail and Shaw (a Pop e-mail service in Canada).
The Shaw e-mail downloads a copy of my mail from the server but keeps the original e-mail there.
Question: I have an iPad, iPhone and now my MacBook. Is there some way to sync the mail between the three devices so that when I delete an e-mail on one device, it will show up in the deleted folder on all three devices if the mail was somehow synced (ignore the issue about the pop mail account for a moment).
Any help would be appreciated.

Actually, the only mail you can sync with iCloud is Apple's IMAP mail (.mac, .me, or now @icloud.com)

If it is a new or refurb Mini you should receive a free copy of Mountain
Lion if it is a used/third party resale you can buy MTN Lion for $19 I
believe and it is worth it to be current...

Unlike the move from 10.6 to 10.7, where you lost Rosetta and its
ability to run PPC applications, I can see no reason not to go from
10.7 to 10.8, and it's only $20

I've been having problems of late with my 2 2TB Western Digital Drives. One of the drives I use for my TM backups, and the other I use for various files and folders I want backed up. Suddenly, I started to realize that neither of those drives were showing up in Finder. I opened Disk Utility, and it showed that both drives were mounted, but still not showing up in Finder. So, initially, I checked the cables to make sure they were seated properly, and then finally I disconnected both drives, shut off the power, then re-connected the drives. That seemed to resolve the problem, until I either re-started the computer, or if the computer went to sleep, then I was back to the same problem.
I then used Disk Utility to check the drives, and to my surprise DU reported the drives needed to be repaired, and then when I tried repairing them, I was informed that they could not be repaired, and to save what files I could, then erase the drives and start over again.
That worked...until the next computer sleep or re-start, then I was back to the same problem. This could not have happened at a worse time, because I just received my new 512GB SSD from Crucial and of course I was wanting to populate my new drive with the latest TM backup. I think the problem is with the disks, but both at the same time seems ludicrous to me, so I am asking for help with this problem.
I am just about to order a new Glyph 2TB Drive, but before I do, I want to ask what the forum thinks of my problems.
Sure would appreciate any help.

WD don't have a good rep these days, but having 2 fail at the same time
does seem unlikely.
If the drives have both USB and FW, have you tried both?
Before doing anything drastic, though, I'd get an enclosure or dock and try
the drives in that.

Temporarily giving your account administrator privileges during the restore of deleted files should eliminate the need to enter a password for each file. Don't forget to remove those privileges when you are done.
You set account privileges in <Apple menu>. System preferences, Users and Groups. Check "Allow user to administer this computer"

Many of my iPhoto files have been transferred to Aperture which I now mainly use but I don't know if they are safe there from this Trash problem and there's no way to test it by deleting just a few files from the Trash. So I'm playing safe and working one by one. Doing some every day will take me weeks but at least I've learnt something!

Here¹s how I do it: I plug it in (to save battery power) and I allow it to
use my Comcast wireless router for a connection. I did it this exact same
way for the last update and it worked flawlessly. That¹s why I¹m stumped!

Thank you both Daly and Harry. I logged on to gmail directly and there I
was able to delete old and unwanted messages. It was amusing, when I went
back into Mail to find them apparently there but to see them vanish as I
called them up. Now, if I can figure out how to clean up all the former
addresses in my in-box ...

You should be able to delete them via the Gmail web interface. I
haven't tried, but then again, I have not emptied any of my folders
there either.

Very easy to get rid of folders up on Gmail. First of all, you can
archive or delete the mail in that folder, or label as Gmail calls it.
You don't have to, but you can.
Then, select the down arrow next to the label name, and then select
'remove label'.
That's all there is to it.

Yep!
Install the Schedule Delivery script, which is a part of Mail Scripts

Or you could use:

Thank you both Daly and Harry. I logged on to gmail directly and there I
was able to delete old and unwanted messages. It was amusing, when I went
back into Mail to find them apparently there but to see them vanish as I
called them up. Now, if I can figure out how to clean up all the former
addresses in my in-box ...

there is so much of it that I have not tried to sort it, don't know how to sort
it, to see if normal POP mail is also displayed in this enormous collection. Is
it true that Google keeps everything, forever? When I delete a message I expect
to see it move to the trash. When I empty the trash I want to see it GONE.
