Howdy.
Startup Chime mute tip.
You should be able to press the mute key on your keyboard during boot
to mute the startup chime but not to affect the volume for regular
use.
The mute key will be different depending on your keyboard model.
I've also heard of a utility for Lion called StartNinja that mutes the
startup chime.

p.s. Back in Mac OS 7, 8, and 9 days, on April First, I used to sneak
install the sound file of the VERY LOUD scream from Phantom of the
Opera into the Startup folder and wait for the surprises around the
office. Some folks jumped right out of their chairs.

Dropbox allows me to keep a copy of all my documents on all of my computers and handhelds. Each device has it's own copy and is updated as changes are made on any of the devices and of course makes a copy in the cloud for no cost.

I don't either, but I once had VPN access before I retired and I think
that showed up under network. It may show up only if you have VPN
software installed.

Thanks Dan for the reply. I did find the terminal command via a Web search and was able to change the computer-as-

I am pretty sure that size CAN be adjusted in some preference in Snow Leopard, but since I haven't run SL in around a year, I don't remember where.

Talk about dumb moves...
In the process of cleaning up my iPad 2 and removing all the silly apps my 11 year old granddaughter downloaded, I inadvertantly threw away the camera control that, I think, is part of the OS package. How do I go about restoring it? Or do I simply want to download one of the third-party camera apps from the iTunes store? Thanks.
