I have many duplicates in itunes and that creates problems. Is there a way to get all my music into itunes without the duplicates? And still be sure I have not left any out?
Right now the music location is: /Users/my name/Music/iTunes/song name.mp3. But I have several locations I pull from plus the backups.
Maybe there's a way to combine files without adding duplicates?
Thank!

I can't remember if you're a Mac user. If you are, takke a look at Doug's Scripts:
http://dougscripts.com/itunes/
He should have a tool to fix your issue.

There is s/w that does this sort of thing based on various file-attributes.
(Google for it)
Watch out, though -- if they just find "duplicates" by file-name or even
composition you may lose actual files you want to keep e.g. different
performances of the same work by different artists.
I have some files that seem to be duplicates but aren't really; I have
others that probably are dupes when I may have imported a CD twice. Doesn't
really bother me.
What problems are you having?
