Good morning group, it was said that there is a button to maximize the apps for the iPad 2. Where would that be on the home screen?

Hi Felecia - when an iPhone only app is opened on an iPad it is small With a border around it. On the unused black screen in the lower right there is a tiny circle with 2x on it. Press that and the app will almost fill the screen but it can get a little fuzzy. But useable. If you want to go back to original size that same button is now labeled 1x. The iPad remembers what setting each iPhone app was at - no need to keep adjusting with that button in the future.

Good morning Sue, Thank you. I have transferred all my apps but I haven't yet checked all of them so that I would know if they are all iPad compatible. I guess I'll get around to it.:)

You are very welcome. Also when you check out an app if there is a little "plus" sign over it on the left hand side it means it works fully both iPad and iPhone

> Sorry to hear that. I've had to restore my iPhone 4 a couple times since I've had it. It's work getting things back to the way they were. What I found to be a big help is to take screenshots of how things are set up on my iPhone and save them somewhere on my computer. That way when I have to do a restore, I have references to how my iPhone was set up before restore.

Thanks, Alice. I did think of doing that, but the Genius was helping me, and I didnt want to take any more of his time than I had to. Luckily, things like photos were already backed up, so I just had the usual tweaking to do. ;)

I had trouble figuring out the Starbucks App also. So, I called the 800 number on my *bucks card and they kindly walked me through it. Since you have to physically go to the *bucks location when you get a coffee (maybe Apple will some day figure out how to download a latte), that's when I give them another $20 if I'm low. And, it automatically tells you where you are on a Gold Card reward (1 free drink after 15), etc.

If you enter your credit card into the app, you run the risk of losing the iPhone and a bad guy getting your info. I don't yet trust Starbucks security.

Just curious, but is that Starbucks App you are referring to just available in the US version of the App Store? Cannot seem to find anything but "Find closest Starbucks" type apps in the Canadian version of the App Store.

iPhone 4S battery drains while in charger

Posted by: "Bill" billonline@adlerbooks.com   billadler

Wed Oct 26, 2011 8:59 am (PDT)

I have a the iPhone 4S and am having a sad battery problem: When I leave my phone in the charger overnight, the battery will show that it's only charged to 93% or 94%.

Removing the cable and plugging the cable back in will get my phone back up to 100%, usually in a few minutes.

I've been reading about the iPhone 4S' relatively poor battery life, but this particular problem of not getting 100% battery life displayed even after charging for 10 or more hours seems to be a separate problem. (I think, but I'm not certain, that the battery actually reaches 100% charge displayed, then starts draining.)

I have two questions: First, does anyone have a solution to this not-fully-charging problem? Second, does anyone have any insight as to whether this problem can or will be fixed through an iOS update from Apple?

As far as I can tell Apple's been silent about this problem, but I have to believe that they're aware of it. If it's software, then a fix might be forthcoming. If it's a hardware problem, then a placement is needed.

Did you restore a backup of an older iPhone (4, 3GS, 3, etc)? If so, I
would restore as new and set up and sync back your content.

I tried restoring iTunes and iCloud backups of my iPhone 4 to 4S and had
endless problems all 4 times. I finally gave up and restored as new and set
up everything freshly and it has not had an issue since.

I've read that there are mixed results when it comes to restoring from a backup (which I did via iCloud), and setting up as new phone. On the Mac Rumors forum, http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1253142 , at least one person who set up an iPhone 4S as a new phone is also having battery problems.

That would definitely indicate a software problem. Operating systems do work in mysterious ways.

I would be very willing to set up my iPhone 4S as a new phone (and deal with the many hours of setting up my apps, folders and accounts) if I was sure that this would solve my battery problems: the not-fully-charging problem, and the rapid battery drain. Before doing that I'd like to be as certain as possible that this is the solution.

You can always create a backup, set up as new and if it doesn't work
correctly - restore your backup - the only time you would be out is the
syncing time.

Personally, my battery lasts more than 24 hours with moderate use. I used
my phone all day, starting at 6am yesterday including Audio playing for 10+
hours listening to SJ Bio and still had 54% when I got home at 7pm last
night.

Remove Apps from iPhone

Just updated to iOS 5 to my iPhone 4. Apple provides apps that I do not want and
have added more with iOS 5. In the past I just put them all in one group called
"JUNK". I was happy with that until they came out with the Newsstand it will not
go into a sub-folder. Is there anyway to remove these APPs?
Newsstand
Game Center
Stocks
Reminders
Compass
Weather
Thanks for input.

I have been able to put all the apps you listed into folders except
Newsstand. They can not be removed from the iPhone.

Nope, system apps are system apps. You can move them to a folder and to
last screen. There is a 'bug' that allows you to put Newsstand in a "new"
folder when creating if you do it quickly but if you try and launch it, will
crash the phone (can't handle a folder within a folder).

I'd familiarize yourself with basic operations - the scroll lock, the home button, the lock button, etc. Learn how to answer and make calls - pretty simple because the scroll thing on the phone answers the phone on an incoming call. To make outgoing call, do the scroll thing and touch the little phone icon. Then you can choose the keyboard icon to dial a number. Pretty simple.

Most of us started simple with the iPhone, and slowly started using the apps that appear on the screen. Things like calculator, calendar, notes, maps, etc. Then we start downloading apps from the app store. I have over 200 now, and haven't paid a cent for any of them because there are free ones that do just about anything that the phone is capable of doing. Things from a simple "flashlight" that turns on the very bright camera flash LED to more complicated ones like a full GPS navigation system similar to a Tom Tom or Garmin. Pretty much whatever you like.

Of course you can use the iPhone to replace a portable music player - it is a fully functional iPod for music and TV. I put almost all of my CD's on mine, putting DVD's on there requires a bit of magic beyond a novice capability.

The iPhone is also a very good camera, so I've just told you how to combine a phone, flashlight, navigation system, iPod, and camera into one box you carry everywhere.

Start simple, work your way into it. I enjoy mine because it is the best phone I've ever owned. With ATT coverage the best over the cities I care about, good sound quality, I can't complain at all.
The rest is just bonuses.
