iCloud

I set up my iCloud user account and password with a new username. Now after having it work I got a message that it couldn't sync,
Thinking my password wasn't correct, I went on iCloud on my iPhone 3S and changed the password.
I changed the password on my iPhone and on my iCal, but I am still getting this message:

Access to account "hotbaba1937@me.com" is not permitted.

The server responded:
"HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden"
to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.

Can anyone help?

TIA

Have you plugged in your iPhone to your computer and checked iTunes to see that the sync is turned on there? Once you have it turned on there and you've done 1 sync, unplug your iPhone (don't eject it) and see if it still shows in your device section in the bar on the left in iTunes. If you still see it, try a wifi sync and let us know if it worked :-)

ATT

Apple is upgrading me from a iPhone 3gs to a iPhone 4. I am eligible for an upgrade with ATT. But the "phone" upgrade has nothing to do with ATT. Therefore my question is, will I need to re-sign a new 2-year contract with ATT to activate the new iPhone 4?

I was also thinking about selling the iPhone 4 & getting an iPhone 4S.

Your thoughts???

Yes you will. If you're getting an in store upgrade, one of the Apple employees can help you activate it on the spot. If its being snail mailed to you, you'll have to do it through iTunes.

Even if Apple emails the iPhone to you, your account will already be
extended for 2 years.

I think th eOP needs to clarify if apple is replacing a phone or if
they are buying a phone from apple. I think we assume the later since
the 3GS is still being sold but if it is a 16 or 32GB replacement they
may be offering a hardware upgrade as replacement.

My son and I both have the iphone 4. I updated to IOS 5 without a problem. He has had nothing but problems. His first problem may be that a friend jailbroke his phone a while back. He's not been able to download this update, and could not restore the phone through itunes. Then he tried to reset the phone and now it's been sitting with the apple on the screen for hours. He tried to restart the phone and it just goes back to the apple again. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You can try to force the iphone into recovery mode. Here is a link on how to do it http://www.tipb.com/2009/01/29/iphone-101-put-iphone-recovery-mode/

iPhone as hot spot for iPad WiFi?

Posted by: "Bobbo" bobbo924@gmail.com   bobbo924

'Allo all.

I'm awaiting delivery of an iPad2, WiFi only. A friend of mine said that you can use an iPhone as a hot spot. Can this be done without the AT&T hot spot option? I don't want to lose my unlimited data on that so have no desire to change plans to add the hot spot feature. I can live with the WiFi iPad2, no prob, but if there's some way to get online in an emergency, that'd be good.

Thanks,
Bobbo

Have you ever gone to AT&Ts website, logged in to your account, and looked at the historical usage display?

Only a small fraction of Unlimited users ever actually use over 2 GB in any month.

When having an iPhone hotspot became useful to me, I switched from Unlimited and have never looked back.

Just checking in with those that ordered the case.

What did you think?

I just got my notice of shipping and my phone will be here Tomorrow. That's 2 weeks from order date!!!! I'm borrowing a case until my lifeproof one or an otterbox get ordered.

It looks like there's a problem with the black and purple ones with the sensor. They are offering replacement covers to fix it.
http://www.lifeproof.com/lifeproof-store/apple-cases/iphone-4-g2

I'm planning on getting the white one with grey outline Generation 2.

Thanks,

William

I tried the Life Proof and it's not bad. But two things I did not like. One is that the screen covering the iPhone screen is not flat. It takes alot of force to use it. The other is the sensor is blocked from the cover so the brightness is not auto adjusted.

4s notes problem

Posted by: "Neal" nealpa3@yahoo.com   nealpa3

Sun Oct 30, 2011 6:34 am (PDT)

I just got the 4s last week and found out that when I put a note in the phone it emails the note to my Macbook and when I delete the email, the note deletes too.
I went to the Apple store and they supposedly fixed the problem, but when I got home the problem still occurs. My iPhone, iPad1, and Macbook all have the latest updates and I'm up on the cloud now using my me address. I've changed every setting that I can find so that I use the my me address everywhere and not my old iTunes address.
Just did another test on the phone and iPad and now both lose the separate notes that I just made. Also the iPad notes that I entered 3-4 weeks ago are still there, but no place else.
Anyone have any ideas that I can try before I go back to the Apple store late next week?

Thanks,
Neal

It is syncing the notes - that is what is supposed to happen.

Perhaps you should describe to us what you desire or expect to happen, because what you describe is exactly what *I* want to happen.

I would think another route would be to email the note to yourself, then keep those in a mailbox of their own. When you delete the note, you still have the email.

I expected that when I entered a note into either my iphone or ipad that it would stay available in the notes area and also show up in the other os5 device.

(Bill Boulware pointed out that in the regular apple email there is a notes section if one scrolls down - so maybe the note that I entered in the iphone would show up there too.)

iCloud without Lion

Posted by: "Devitt" devittad@comcast.net   devittad

My MacMini is running the latest version of Snow Leopard. My iPhone 3GS and iPad 2 currently run the latest iOS 4. I want to update the 3GS and iPad 2 to iOS 5 and use iCloud to sync Mail, Notes, Calendar, Books and a few non-Apple apps between the iPhone and iPad. Is this possible without upgrading to Lion or am I asking for trouble? Is it better to forget about iCloud until I've done the Lion upgrade?

If it is possible, would I be better off setting up iCloud through settings after I've done the iOS 5 upgrade or as part of the process?

In 10 days I'll be going out of town for three weeks. I'll need my i devices to be in good working order during the trip. I'd love to install iOS 5 before I leave. But the horror stories I've read about updating make me hesitant to try. I'm not a novice, but not a pro either. For example, I still am not sure how to get my book purchases from the i devices to the computer through iTunes. The "all your books will be wiped" warning notice when setting up sync has scared me off from trying.

I'd appreciate any and all advice.

Many thanks in advance,

Cathy

When you plug in your iDevices to your computer and open iTunes, do you go to the books area of iTunes and check sync all books? Do you get the message that it's going to delete your books at that time?

I'm not sure how much of iOS 5 is useable with Snow Leopard since I upgraded to Lion before upgrading to iOS 5. Sorry :-(

Have you synced your 3Gs to your computer? All your messages would be there. Also, if you use something like iCloud, your messages would be there too if you sync your mail with it.
