I had the same problem with Sony earbuds years ago and since then I've used
"canal phones". I've noticed that people who *can* use earbuds seem to be
able to hook them in, but this isn't ideal anyway because there's no seal
and you get a lot of sound leakage, which really annoys other people.
I currently use Sennheiser CX300s with my iPhone and I reckon they are
unbeatable for the money. Like most canal phones, they come with 3 sets of
seals in different sizes.

That could be handy if you've got lots of apps running but for me
command-tab-q (you just keep the command key pressed and move your finger
from tab to q) is quick enough.

That's pretty awesome that you know exactly what is going on in Bill

Where, in my post, do you arrive at the conclusion that I was reading
someone's mind?
Things are pretty transparent if you had followed the course of events
over the years and not listened to hype on Twitter and Facebook.

The part where you claim to know there "was more than likely not a giving
bone in his body" and the part where you claim to know that he's not a "good
guy" "when it comes to money".

Both opinions, even as stated in the English: 'more than likely...'.
Granted, 'not a good guy..' sounds like a leap, but it does not reflect
fact, only opinion.
Next time, I'll provide a disclaimer as a suffix to whatever post it is!

I think the outpouring of grief over Steve Jobs is something akin to
the outpouring of grief about Princess Diana. Both were deeply flawed
individuals, but then who isn't? Some people just love to hero-
worship. I am not one of them.

It's a shame, really. I have not gotten to the part of the book yet,
however, on a CNET podcast yesterday, I found out that Steve basically
took credit for Jonathan Ive's design work. Ive was apparently upset
about this the whole time he worked in the capacity of chief designer.
Dismaying to say the least.

iPhoto question
Posted by: "pix@maksimo.de" pix@maksimo.de yovard@ymail.com

How can I import photos into iPhoto from Finder while preserving the original metadata and Spotlight comments?
I have a large collection of photos in Finder which I got from the internet. Information about each photo (copyrights etc.) is stored in the Spotlight Comments field (Command + i) and as metadata in the file itself (for example Where from: ). Now, when I import photos to iPhoto all comments will get lost, so it seems.
How can I import photos into iPhoto from Finder so that the original metadata and Spotlight comments will be preserved?

I was just poking a bit of fun, but it does seem to me that the *coexistence* of Windows on Mac hardware and with OSX is certainly of interest to many "Mac Users." So is the issue of AV "on Macs". Asking questions about Windows on Mac would be fruitless on a Windows forum.
I do agree that the original question was technically outside the scope of this forum, but the discussion that ensued was not, and that should be considered. I have found that some of the most interesting discussions on any forum are prompted by questions that seem to be "OT" on the surface, but become highly relevant due to the specific perspective of the forum culture.
Cheers,
tod

I have to disagree with you re the Windows forum opinion. When booted
into Windows via Bootcamp, the hardware is no different than any other
Windows specific Intel pc. Windows is Windows in this case, and
everything, aside from drivers, would be the same. The driver issue
would be specific for any hardware, for that matter.
The only way I can see it being 'fruitless' is if one is running Windows
inside a virtual machine. In that instance, maybe 95% of the Windows
queries would be specific to Windows. Still a fairly high percentage.
After all, Windows is just Windows, period. Apple does specifically
mention that a Mac booted with Bootcamp, into Windows, is nothing more
than a Windows pc at that point. Ne'er the tween shall meet.

The file you see may be the MPEG2 component that DVD Player uses. DVD Player decodes MPEG2 but this support does not extend to other apps. I don't know for sure about that specific file, but yes, you do need the Quicktime codec add-on. It is a direct purchase as an add-on to Quicktime Pro 7, and it is also installed with Final Cut Pro.

I finally just put a piece of duct tape on the back of my iPhone 4 (my father's suggestion), and now it's not slippery and it still fits into my hip case.
