Try starting the wi-fi sync from iTunes on your computer. If all was set up
properly, the iPhone should still show up as a device in iTunes. Select the
iPhone device in the left column, then click "sync". That did the trick for
me.
If the iPhone does not show up as a device in iTunes, try connecting the
iPhone by USB. As soon as the iPhone shows up on the device list in iTunes,
unplug the iPhone (without clicking the eject arrow.) The iPhone should then
remain on the device list and you should be able to start the sync within
iTunes.

Select the Music icon (if using iOS 5) or the ipod icon (if using earlier iOS) on your device. Select More on botton bar and then select Podcast. They should be in podcast.

Cellular data

Hello to all, I have a question. For some reason my WiFi was only working at home. So when I'm at work or friends I could not get WiFi on my iPad 2. So I purchased the cheapest data plan they had. Its 14.99 for 30 days. Do they have the iPad 2 set this way, where you won't get wifi in other places and you have to purchase the data plan. And can I go into settings and turn it off? That way I won't have to use it while I'm at home.
I will also like for someone to tell me how to text those friends of mine who does not have iOS5 software, but I would like to text them from iPad 2. I really love using my iPad. I'm giving my iPhone 4 a break:).

My wifi works everywhere there is wifi available. You can turn off
cellular data in the first level of settings and there are several
text apps in app store. Text now is a popular one. Google voice also
works well.

Did you check in your wifi settings to manually content to the non- home wifi. Did that wifi need pass code?
I use text plus silver - works well on both phone and iPad. Has a dedicated phone number if you want as well

Yes I have tried everything. I even called apple tech support. And I couldn't get a straight answer. she told me that I would just have to purchase a data plan because the wifi I'm was trying to get on may not be compatible to the ios5 so I did because I like to get on my iPad where ever I am.

That is bizarre. I have had no problems in the three or so wifi networks I needed. Do you have access to another public wifi you can try to be sure it is not a hardware issue with your iPad Bluetooth.

iPhone 4S Proximity Sensor?
Posted by: "jeff.kidman" imjafj@YAHOO.COM jeff.kidman

I have had my iPhone 4 for a year and I've always had problems with the proximity sensor. I had two that were VERY bad which the apple store promptly swapped. I still have occasional times when my face will mute or dial in the middle of a conversation. I have friends who also have less than ideal proximity sensors.
Anybody think they improved the proximity sensor on the 4S? I might upgrade just for that reliability. (not to mention Siri!)

You guys aren't using Speaker phone or have bluetooth devices connected do
you? Or have any sort of case that is obstructing the sensor. The
proximity sensor / Turning off the screen when holding up to face (on 4S
this also activates Siri if enabled) only works when you are on a call,
using the regular phone with no audio bluetooth devices connected. If you
have this problem within warranty period, I would take phone in to Apple
Store.

Siri tricks: Update Facebook, Twitter, Google+ through SMS, and more

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Siri tricks: Update
Facebook, Twitter, Google+ through SMS, and more via 9to5Mac by Jordan
Kahn on 10/20/11
Yesterday we posted a story about the possibility of new features being
implemented in a future update to Siri. However, if you don't feel like
waiting, today the guys over at Techland have put together some tips
and tricks for getting the most out of Siri and accomplishing tasks
that aren't currently built-in.
While text message charges will of course apply, here are a few tips
for updating Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ by redirecting them through
SMS. You can head over to Techland for many more Siri related tips and
tricks including searching with Bing and Yahoo, dication tips, and how
to "teach Siri hard-to-pronounce names".
For Facebook:
For Facebook, text "Hello" to 32665 in the United States (or the short
code for whatever country you're in), then follow the link in the reply
to finish the setup process. Add the short code to your Contacts, and
name it "Facebook." That way, you can tell Siri to "send a text to
Facebook saying …"
For Twitter:
For Twitter, text "START" to 40404 in the United States (or the short
code for other countries), then respond with your username, then your
password. Add the short code to your Contacts with the name "Twitter."
For Google+:
For Google+, visit your settings page and scroll down to "Set delivery
preferences." Add your cell phone number, but be sure to click "don't
notify me" if you don't want incoming Google+ messages by text. Verify
your number with the code you receive by phone, then add the short code
"33669″ (in the U.S.) to your contacts as "Google Plus." Updates are
shared with everyone in your circles.
Things you can do from here:
- Subscribe to 9to5Mac using Google Reader
- Get started using Google Reader to easily keep up with all your
favorite sites

I haven't used Text Now, so you'll have to read up on it. See what it says in the description in the app store. If that doesn't answer your question, Google it :-)

Fwd: [apple-iphone] Cellular data

You know Susan F. I haven't tried it yet. But that's a good idea. I will though. Do you have a lot of wifi connections around u? When I go to wifi and try to see other wifi connections. I don't see them then either. I only see mine. I'm sure there r people who live around me have wifi even if it's locked. That just seem weird. Now as far as texting people without ios5. What app do u use. I'm worried about the one I downloaded, will it change my number? I don't want that.

Your child will need either a wifi connection or a 3G connection to download from iTunes.
