I agree with the report as I "had" ATT for the first three iPhones and
had nothing but problems. I know they beefed up their network
and now it's much better but all the things I see where Verizon or
Sprint are bad are almost always west coast tests/figures where
this one was countrywide.

ATT has always been near the bottom of customer satisfaction from
what I can remember.

Kind of pointless debate - if you have AT&T and it happens to have good coverage in the areas you use it, you are satisfied. Same with Verizon.

I've had three of the four big carriers. GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile sound better and have less drop outs than CDMA carrier Verizon. Having worked at a cellular telephone base station manufacturer, I can tell you GSM is a much more robust system. I have no idea why a random sampling of people like a CDMA carrier better than a GSM.

I will say this - the whole idea of sim cards sucks. Sim cards are weak points in the system - any connector is, but especially sim. The unreliability of sim card connections goes a long way to erase the reliability of a GSM system.

CDMA was the mantra of the late 90's. I don't know how many times we had cell system network owners turn down our GSM base stations, only to come back a couple of years later when CDMA reliability issues forced them to install three times the number of base station cells they originally planned. GSM solved all their problems.

I wish i could say the same. I have Sprint (Personal) and ATT (Work) and i am in Dallas, TX. With that said I know if i need to make an important or long call i have to use my Sprint phone. My ATT device to me is usable but unreliable for long or very important calls. The sad thing is i am not even a heavy talker.
My boss has the same issue, occassional dropped calls. Last night me and a buddy were talking and about 30 minutes into the convo his phone dropped the call. His ATT to my Sprint. When he called me back he said, sorry dude, my phone dropped the call.
I am thinking its a market issue. The people in Cali seem to have great service. Meanwhile my area not so well.
But this is a generalized assumption on my part, because there are so many variables i cant absolutely blame ATT. LOL
I wanted to chime in. As far as customer service. I dont call ATT so i cant comment on that. But Sprint, with the few times i have had to deal with customer service was not bad. Its a hell of a lot better then say 5 years ago..
Specifics.
My Sprint Samsung Epic Touch Galaxy S II
My Work ATT iPhone 4 5.01 ATT
My Boss ATT iPhone 4 ATT
My Friend ATT iPhone ATT

I've had AT&T for the past 10 years at least. Their customer service is amazing in fact, that it's hard to believe this report. Meanwhile I hear so many people complain about Verizon and Sprint customer service. I had T-Mobile before and also loved their service.

Interesting.
Why does one need to have 3 times more base stations when designing a CDMA network than for GSM network even when the bandwidth requirement is less and the spectrum is same?
For 800 or 900 MHz spectrum, the line of sight calculations do not change.

Well this sounds like English is my last language... let me try
again.

I have no issues where I live with AT&T but when I went to Amish
country in Ohio last last summer, there were no AT&T towers. Even
though this is a big tourist area, AT&T did not beleive that any
of thier customers visit this area... evidenced by absolutly no
service... nothing, nota, zilch.... I drove 80 mile one day and
never had service. If Verizon gets data and phone service at the
same time worked out, I will go back to Verizon, but I need to
have data service while I am on calls.

Our theory was that the CDMA networks are trying to compensate for phase differences due to code divisions getting out of sync - with more signal strength or more base station options. Either way, the longer the call duration, the choppier it sounds. With TDMA instead of CDMA, at least you have synchronization to the GPS satellites and therefore a unified time reference.

I think the problem is transmitted power control function which is available only in CDMA base station as well as handsets. The covered radial distance shrinks when the base station gets more traffic and the periphery handsets are deprived of the service. Ideally speaking, the adjoining cells should expand to cover such customers. in GSM, the adjoining cells are planned to work on different sets of frequencies, unlike CDMA.

I didn't know the Amish used cell phones. I thought they wouldn't because it would take their attention away from God and onto the secular world.

Similar story here. I had Verizon for years and switched to get an iPhone 4. Im very happy with AT&T, and they did wonderfully for me last summer. DH and I were on a cruise when his mother fell ill. I hadnt arranged for cell service where we were, but AT&T was great about hooking me up right away and only for the few days I was going to need it. They were very helpful and cooperative.

I also saw the survey and have been quite happily with AT&T for several
years. Previously I have been with Verizon and T-Mobile. Much happier with
AT&T. I find the phone support cheerful and helpful, and the store clerks
always happy to help when I go in with questions.

Evernote Wants You To Remember Everything – Launches Two New

Sent to you by Brent via Google Reader: Evernote Wants You To Remember
Everything – Launches Two New Apps via App Advice by Bryan M. Wolfe on
12/7/11

Evernote today announced the arrival of two new apps into the App
Store. Evernote Food helps people remember their favorite meals and
food experiences, while Evernote Hello helps folks remember others when
they meet them for the first time. The new apps were unveiled first at
the Le Web conference in Paris, according to TechCrunch.

Food's premise is relatively simple. Whenever you experience a meal
you'd like to remember, take a photo of it. Then, add a title, your
location, tags, captions, and additional notes about the experience.
Because Food integrates with Evernote's note-taking service, your
favorite meals are accessible from any device.

Naturally, Food also has a social networking component. Favorite meals
can be shared with others using Twitter, Facebook, or through email.

Take a look:

Meanwhile, Hello hopes to (finally) replace the business card by
helping folks remember people they meet. To do so, Evernote suggests
giving the person your iPhone so that they can create a profile within
the Hello app. Better yet, they'd like to see both parties using the
app; so each meeting begins or ends with the exchanging of iPhones.
Then, in the comforts of your home or office, you can add photos,
notes, and impressions of the person you just met.

Like Food, Hello is fully integrated with Evernote, making finding
contacts anywhere simple.

Take a look:

Evernote Food and Evernote Hello are available now in the App Store.
Both are free as is the Evernote app.

It could be that the person you are entering into Evernote Hello is one of
the unlucky ones who does not have an iPhone. ;-)

Get the 64 GB phone

Hi all:

I thought I was being extravagant buying the 64 GB version  of
the 4s iPhone. But I filled 6 GB already, with just my Tom
Waits albums. Buy the most memory you can afford, you'll

use it!

Sincerely
/b

Earphone jack

The headphones that came with my phone have a special
jack with a tip and three rings; to accommodate the microphone
and switches on the 'phones.

Can I plug ordinary stereo headphones into that iPhone jack?

Sincerely
/b

Yes. Many of us use standard non-Apple phones.

Ha!!!! They specifically said exchange of iPhones!!! "so each meeting
begins or ends with the exchanging of iPhones." 😁 Bump works on
Android too!

I'm just surprised Evernote didn't do some kind of automated transfer.
Love Evernote, but can't see using Hello if we have to physically
exchange devices to enter our respective info.

I don't think anyone has ever said "I wish I'd bought less memory" --
at least not since the early computer days when almost nobody could imagine
needing more than a few computers in the world & none of them all that
"big".

If you want to be sure the file doesn't get edited by mistake, you can use
GoodReader. That's where I keep my reference docs. GR will also d/l web
pages.

I don't know how anything is done with iCloud as I haven't put my toe in
that ocean yet.

Documents to go can do that. It will also move, sync xcel files.

Twitter Push Boxcar not working

Posted by: "tumis728" need2cycle@yahoo.com   tumis728

Hello everybody. I was using Boxcar to push Twitter. A few weeks ago it stopped working. This App worked real well when it worked. Is anybody else having this issue. And what are others using. It worked fine until my last up date.

Thanks
