Ok, what I meant was the 2 GB plan. At least I got the Gigabyte part straight, I usually get Mega and Giga mixed up.
Charles
Verizon has a 20*Gigabyte* plan?
I have ATT's 200*Megabyte* plan and since I use very little cell-data that's
been plenty. Even 2GB is adequate for most people (from what I hear) unless
they're streaming TV 24/7 or something.
You might want to check on the particulars of your plan -- and let the rest
of us know.

Thanks for the reply, Ron. I stopped and restarted the AMDS. That didn't
do it. I then uninstalled all of the Apple components on my system,
following all of the instructions, then reinstalled iTunes. No change.
This is pretty baffling, at least to me, because the iPad that syncs to the
same PC is not having any problems playing nicely with my PC and iTunes.
It's just my iPhone. Pretty frustrating! I guess the next step is to try
what iTunes is saying, and restor my phone as new. I'm still not sure that
is going to change anything, though. I wonder if there is any way to "roll
back" to the previous version of iTunes, since this all started after
updating iTunes yesterday morning.

Here is the link to the fix for Windows computers:
http://support.apple.com/ kb/TS1567? viewlocale= en_US
Then choose: "Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS)"
Mine did not have the "Stop" option and so I just hit Start and followed the
instructions.

Have you tried deleting the driver for the iPhone?
Unplug the iPhone, delete the driver, and plug the iPhone back in.

Thanks for the reply, Brent. I assumed when I uninstalled all of the apple
components as described at
http://support.apple.com/ that the driver waskb/TS1567? viewlocale= en_US
deleted. I know when I re-installed everything and plugged the phone it, I
got the message on the PC that it was loading the driver. If I am incorrect
in that assumption (entirely possible), where would I find the driver, and
how would I delete it?
Thanks again,
Ken

iPhone Email

My husband has been having trouble with his POP email on his iPhone. At least half of the time he gets a message that there is no content or that the message was only partially downloaded but won't download the remaining message. I know it's not because the email is too large because it happened when I forwarded a small email to him. I also know it's not the email account because he has no trouble on his laptop. His iPhone software is current. Any suggestion? Thanks

Have you tried switching to IMAP for email. I had all kinds of trouble with POP after upgrading to iOS 5. No syncing was the biggest problem. Switched to IMAP and all was better.

Sound check

What is the purpose of sound check under music in settings? It just seems to make the volume lower when I switch it on.

Songs are recorded at different volume levels. Sound Check normalizes the
volume of the songs so they will play at near the same level.

Many email providers limit the size of messages (including attachments) to
10 or even 5 MB. Can you split your pictures between messages?

Still don't understand iCloud
Posted by: "Andrew O'Brien" k3ukandy@gmail.com obrienaj

I don't quite "get" this Icloud thing. Today Apple sent me this:
As a reminder, iCloud comes with 5 GB of free storage. You are
currently using 4.9 GB, which means your iCloud storage is almost
full. When your storage is full, device backups to iCloud will stop
and apps will no longer be able to save documents to iCloud.
To ensure your icloud services continue without interruption, you can
buy more storage or free up space by following the steps below:
Step 1: On your iOS device, go to Settings and tap iCloud.
Step 2: Tap Storage & Backup.
Step 3: Choose Buy More Storage to upgrade your storage plan, or
Manage Storage to free up space in your account.
I assumed that a big part of my storage were some pictures and
videos. I thought I would log in to Icloud and delete some pictures.
I never see any area on icloud that has my pictures. Are pictures and
other data simply stored on Icloud for the purpose of a back-up and
restore if needed ? is the general design intended to be storage
only, not an alternative place to see what you have stored ?

I did not know video could be stored on iCloud. I thought it was for documents and such. Also, I don't know if full apps can be stored there. Time for me to read up on it and see just what it's backing up from my iMac LOL

iCloud stores a *list* of your apps, or at least the ones that are still currently available in the iTunes store. The *data* that is not actually part of the app proper is - or *can be* - backed up separately in iCloud.
NOT counted against your 5 GB of "backup space":
Your purchased music, apps, books, and TV shows, as well as your Photo Stream
COUNTED against those 5 GB:
Your mail, documents, Camera Roll, account information, settings, and other app data

So, can you actually see Camera Roll on iCloud? If we store it there,
shouldn't we be able to examine it? With the 4.9 I am apparently using, I have two short emails, zero documents. So the rest must be photographs and videos.

Go to: http://www.apple.com/icloud/ what-is.html
iCloud stores your photos, and syncs your photos to your devices. It does not display your photos.
Gallery goes away with MobileMe.

If I go to the iCloud icon in System Preferences (Mac), then it logs into my account and tells me what is being "backed up".
I selected "Contacts", "Calendars" and "Find my iPhone".
On the bottom right, there is a button called "Manage"
If I click on that, it shows me what is taking up my space, and allows me to delete specific items to free up space.
A Windows machine should be similar.
