iTunes will rip CDs right into its library.
Why not use that?

You might want to use the program which is free at this site
http://www.eusing.com/CDRipper/ CDRipper. htm,
I use it to convert CDs to MP3 when I add them to my Ipod touch or if you
want to go a stage further. http://www.avs4you.com

computer won't recognize ipod

I have been using my I pod touch 3rd gen happily for several years.
Now when I connect it to my computer to download books the computer doesn't recognize that it is connected.
I went to i tunes help and it said to click on i pod on the devise list on the left hand column. There is no device list. I tried to download the "new" version for i tunes. Is this what started the problem. Any ideas how to remedy I miss my books.
And I am technically challenged ( I break into a cold sweat when stuff like this happens).
Thanks
Elizabeth

Have you tried resetting/restarting your touch?
To restart iPod touch, first turn iPod touch off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPod touch will turn off after a few moments.
Next, turn iPod touch on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Hi Elizabeth,
You need to mention what kind of computer and version your running.
This is how I fixed my similar issue on a Windows XP home machine.
Go to
Control Panel
Add or Remove Programs
find Apple Mobile Device Support
and click the change button
then select the repair option.
That should fix your problem.
best,

to me, sounds like a driver got messed up. Its a easy fix, but technical,.go to control panel, system, device manager. Look for a item with a ! in it, means there is a problems with the device driver. remove it, reconnect the ipod, and it should go through the config process again.
Sorry, its simple, but technical.

Want to set timer for iPod to go off after an hour or so of listenin
Posted by: "JoyceK" joycekeay@comcast.net dustycat90

Hi I just bought an application called Sleep Streamer 2 which has a lot of ambient sounds. I have tinnitus (ringing in the ears) so I would like to play these sounds when I go to bed and have the touch turn off after maybe 45 minutes. I have the iPod set up in a dock/speaker. I set the clock timer to a given amount of minutes, hit "set" and "sleep iPod when timer ends' and go to the application and choose the sound I want to listen to. The problem is the iPod isn't turning off at the time set on the clock. There must be some little thing that I'm not doing or something in Settings that needs adjusting. The same thing happens when I choose to listen to music.
Any ideas out there?
Thanks. Joyce Keay

I found the slider in the Sleep Streamer 2 app that lets me adjust how long it will run before stopping so that problem is solved. But I still have the problem of wanting to let the Touch go to sleep by itself after listening to music. I would have thought that setting the clock timer for a given amount of time, then selecting "sleep iPod" when the timer ends would do it but it isn't working. Any ideas?
Thanks.
