Help! I plugged my iPod into my computer this morning while I had iTunes open and a window popped up that said "This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started". I've been adding/deleting music and charging my iPod on my computer since I got it two years ago. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

2a.: Photos needed to be copied from my iPad

I have had a computer crash, I have back-ups of the content of the iPad except the photos. Is there an easy way to copy the photos on the iPad to the new computer besides emailing them, it's a few hundred photos, I have already copied the ones on the camera roll to the computer.
