Apple has been taking a lot of heat over the past few days regarding its new Maps application. The company released iOS 6, the latest update to its mobile OS, to the public on Wednesday, which features the new Google Maps replacement.

Inaccuracies and missing features in the app have spawned a parody Tumblr and Twitter account, in addition to quite the uproar in the tech world. And it looks like Motorola is looking to capitalize on the criticism, with its new “iLost” ad…(...)

One of the most noticeable and talked about features of the iPhone 5 is its new display. For the first time, Apple has made the handset’s screen larger, bumping it up to right around 4-inches.

But in order to maintain usability, Apple only increased the height of the display, not the width. And this has spawned some criticism from the tech world, as well as this hilarious parody…(...)

Apple asks for another $707 million in damages from Samsung

While fans from around the world were out trying to score the new iPhone 5 yesterday, Apple was busy filing its motions for the final judgement in its high-profile patent trial with Samsung.

As most of you know, a jury found Samsung guilty of infringing on Apple’s patents last month, ordering it to pay more than $1 billion in damages. But Apple doesn’t think that’s enough…(...)

AT&T awards young girl $20,000 for creating anti-texting while driving app

We all know these days that sending text messages while driving is a pretty bad idea. Raising awareness of the risks is always a worthwhile exercise though, and doing just that is what has earned one 11-year old girl a cool $20,000.

As part of a hackathon last month, the young lady created a concept mobile app that hopes to raise awareness for the “It Can Wait” campaign. This led AT&T to award the prize of $20k for the creation.

Not bad for a kid…(...)

The iPhone 5 launched yesterday, and first impressions seem to be in line with the early reviews: the thing is fast. As most of you know, Apple custom-built an all-new processor for the handset called the A6.

iOS 6 adoption rate twice as fast as iOS 5 after two days

Despite claims by some that iOS 6 is less than a stellar update, it seems Apple’s latest release of its mobile operating system is being adopted quickly by users of iPhones, iPads and iPod touches.

New figures released to Techcrunch by analytics firm Apsalar, show that iOS 6 is proving more and more popular as time progresses, with the adoption rate after two full days of availability being a healthy 20%. That’s up 5 points from after day one.

Perhaps more telling is the fact that iOS 6 sees an adoption rate of double that seen by iOS 5 after the same period…(...)
