Sorry, no.
The original posting was about the changing a lost password.
What the password was FOR was unspecified.
The answer depends completely on what sort of password.

I assume this is a Mac login password and Tod Hopkins has already given the
answer, or at least it used to be the answer in the days when Macs came
with install discs.
So Frank, do you have an install disc (DVD)?

Do disk so I found another way. Opened the Sys Pref and User & Groups found the password the hard way. Finely found it.

I have just upgraded my iMac to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard and find I can't open any of the emails in my inboxes and also in my folders (some holding years of emails) that I created in Snow Leopard. When I click on the email I get a blank screen with the word Loading...... and the little rotating black ball spinning forever. Does anyone know what I should do?

I do notice a large lag in 10.8, when I choose another mailbox. Seems pretty slow. Haven't found a solution for it.

The lag only seems to be with Gmail. I don't notice it with Yahoo or iCloud. Strange as I have more mail in the Yahoo boxes than with Gmail.
Guess it's time to crop a little bit!

I had the same issue with Gmail. So I selected the inbox and rebuilt , the
rebuilt folder by folder.
Now the mail works fine.

Hi all you helpful people,
I finally bought and started downloading Mountain Lion - my dsl is soooooo slooooow that it's taking 1 day and 10 hours. I can pause it or use my iPad for other stuff but really....
Anyway, I had to pause it at one point and when I started it back up the Lion icon in the dock was missing so my question is - where is Lion going and will I be able to open it when I get it fully downloaded - will it open itself? Will it be broken in some way - (error stuff)? Should I even bother with the 19 hours I still have left to go?
Thanks
Bekah

MORE -
The situation when I lost the icon was that I was trying to see if there was any kind of show of progress in the little progress bar under the dock icon - where it should turn blue. After an hour there was still none so I stopped everything, restarted, turned it off, tried plugs, etc. When I got back up and running it found where I could go to "purchased" apps and "resume." So I did. And it resumed and showed me the tiny progress. But then after awhile I noticed there was no icon for it at this point.

(I composed this message an hour ago, thought I'd sent it, but now can't find any evidence of either; so, I apologize if this is a non-super "duper" of a message):
Today I'd planned to update my Mac Pro from Lion to Mtn Lion. I do my SuperDuper! clones of my boot drive every Friday night, and to be sure everything was OK, I launched SuperDuper! and verified that the cloning operation (erase clone, copy everything from the source, then make clone bootable, then quit) had run to completion last night. It had, taking just under 2 hours to do so.
I'd tried to shortcut that confirmation by just checking Finder "Get Info" on the Boot Clone volume. Curiously, it reported that the volume had been modified on Tuesday, September 11 at 6:01 am. I don't remember using it then, so don't know what was modified then, but also don't understand why a re-writing of the entire volume from my "real" boot disk doesn't count as a modification.
Can someone help me understand this?
Thanks so much,

Jim...very interesting.
I just checked my backup OSX drive using "Get Info" and it shows the last modification was yesterday at 7:14 AM. However, if I use Finder and look at my backup drive, I can find files that were created or modified last night. So, for whatever reason, Get Info is not reporting the latest read/write activity after SuperDuper backups. If I open SD, it reports the backup activity as it actually occurred. So, your information jives with what I am seeing. Perhaps SD bypasses something that Get Info uses or resets the backup bits, codes or whatever. Not sure.
Question...why erase and totally rewrite to your backup drive when you perform a SD backup? That takes forever (2 hours, as you mentioned). SD allows you to do a Smart Incremental backup so your backup drive is an exact clone, and it usually takes me no more than 10 minutes. You can still make it a bootable drive, with ACLs, etc. I have booted from my cloned backup drives to test it and they work the same as booting from the original. I have my computer set to do an automatic, smart, incremental backups of both my OS/Apps drive and my Data drive every night at 1:30AM. Before I go to bed, I log out, and log back in while holding down the shift key. This prevents certain apps from loading and helps insure an exact duplicate (according to SuperDuper.
