Thanks, Dan,
I will digest that and find out the info. I have a cable modem (the envy of my neighbors who live just a short ways away but up a dirt road) but I will find out about the cable speed, etc. I have only one device that needs a wired connection to the router. The rest of the devices (computer, iPhones, etc.) are wireless though some are newer and faster than others. I will research that. Then I will have the info I need.
Many, many thanks for all of you who generously share your knowledge and time.
Joan in Vermont - another glorious day (am I getting monotonous?).

I don't know that the radios in the AirPort Extreme are any more powerful than those in the AirPort Express Base Station. The Express has been refreshed more recently than the Extreme (but there have been reports of very low inventory of the AirPort Extreme at Apple resellers, which suggests it might be updated quite soon.
If you have one or more devices that need to be plugged into the router by Ethernet, the AirPort extreme may be your better choice, since in has a WAN (wide area network) port that plugs in to your DSL, cable, or Satellite network interface plus for gigabit Ethernet LAN ports for devices that require a wired connection. That's faster than any wireless networking protocol currently widely available (not necessary for printers, but nice if you transfer large files from one computer to another and both are on your wired LAN.
BOTH the Extreme and Express now can function as wireless access points for two separate WiFi networks (one secured as much as you want, for your own devices, the other unsecured or perhaps LESS secure, but separate, for your guests.

I use IPassword on my MAC, iPhone and iPad. It works great and syncs between devices. My wife uses a PC (she won't change to a MAC). I know 1Password has a Windows version. My question is...if she installs it on her PC will it sync to my devices and will my changes sync to her PC?

Has all the transit locations and things that Apple Maps is missing.
Lynn, could you please describe the exact choices you click when you go to googlemaps.com? I cannot find a place to downoad it as an iPhone application, and would really really like to do that.

Howdy.
I'm also very interested. Haven't investigated the possibility of
downloading the Google Maps app for iOS from Google but it's mostly
what is keeping me from upgrading several devices to iOS 6 and from
buying a new iPhone 5.

It's not really a separate app. It's a bookmark to the Google Maps mobile website. When you're at the Google Maps URL, you click the "share" button at the bottom of the iPhone screen and create an icon for the Home Screen.
There's a VERY long and detailed review of iOS 6 Maps linked to from the Macworld website which points out some real advantages of Apple's new app. Interesting reading, and interesting playing with maps on my updated iPhone 4s just now. One thing that amazes me is that Google's maps are all bitmaps, whereas Apple's are vector based, which gives Apple a theoretical advantage, but at the same time illustrates how the seemingly seemless way in which one zooms in and out in Google Maps demonstrates just how mature their technology is.

Google Maps on the iPhone are bitmaps, but Google Maps on Android have been
vector-based for a couple of years now. I wonder if this is all part of the
Apple-Google war, and why Apple created its own Maps app?

MobileMe essentially ceased to exist in summer. Old .me and .mac email
addresses continue to work if you went through the steps Apple provided
to make the transition to iCloud. While I do not have a mac on Lion or
iCloud (running SnowLeopard), I do have an iPhone that I used to do what
I needed to do in order to set up my iCloud account. Consequently my
email and my calendars continue to work; my calendars were setup under
the paid Busycal app long before iCloud and the actual iCal calendar app
is no longer used. This way, my household has access to one set of
calendars so that we don't have double entries for each event for each
person's calendars on each machine. Busycal simply accesses the caldav
servers on iCloud with the apple ID we have set up. As far as back to my
mac and some of the older features of MobileMe go, I cannot comment on
whether they are now all defunct or have some more time before they are
totally disconnected...

When the Device is mentioned such as (Re-Start the device) what device would that be?

I don't know which messages you are referring to, Frank, but it should be
obvious from the context; if not, ask the writer of the message.

Okay - so my cloud is set up but I have no idea how to access it from my iPad.
I use Pages to type out, or copy or whatever, recipes I want available on the iPad. I save them to documents > cookbook on my desktop but also in Dropbox. This is what I have been doing. Now it seems as though when I bring up Pages the default save is to the cloud - and Pages doesn't open first - rather some Cloud thing showed (an ad I think) and now the documents folder is opening - irritating but I can live with it.
Question - if I save them to the Cloud, how do I access them? Do I need a Pages app on the iPad to do this? My guess is yes -
