Singapore - Frozen Ape today is pleased to announce the release of CPR Tempo, an iOS app that provides audio and visual cues to aid the timing of chest compressions during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A rate of 100 compressions per minute is recommended by the American Heart Association for effective CPR. This is difficult to maintain without audio cues. Rescuers traditionally either use dedicated hardware or resort to acquainting themselves with songs that have a similar tempo. For the first time, iOS users have constant access to a dedicated and polished software solution.
The idea for this app was conceived when ER nurse and Army Reservist MAJ Don Kyle shared with Frozen Ape about how their flagship and bestselling metronome app, Tempo, was used to help save a life. By simply setting Tempo to play at 100 beats per minute, a tool intended for musicians became the perfect CPR aid. The tones, Don shared, were able to cut through ambient noise and remain audible.
"We were elated and humbled that our metronome app could play a part in saving lives. This is something that never crossed our minds," said Zen Ho, founder of Frozen Ape. "We reached out to Don Kyle and with his help, designed a dedicated CPR timing app along with some bonus features. We salute the work of all medical workers around the world, and to play our own small part, are providing this app for free."
CPR Tempo is designed for optimal clarity and to be fuss free, critical requirements during emergencies. Its interface is dominated by an illustrated heart that pounds to the audio tones. Timers with their own audio and visual cues are provided for rhythm checks and epinephrine administration. These two key actions require the lapse of time intervals which are often not adhered to. The new development team at Kwalee, going under the guise of 'Team Unicron', have been working for four months now on their first title, code named BLT. Under the leadership of Adam Philbin they have been creating a comically violent multiplayer physics game, featuring a cast of disturbingly cute farm animals.
BLT has now reached the stage where everyone at Kwalee is playing against each other and having loads of fun creating mayhem in the game, which the development team are working away at feverishly for an eagerly anticipated pre-Christmas release.
Kwalee, with its first two games Gobang Social and Pussy Flip, took well known board games and developed them into being the best possible iterations on the Apple App Store. This enabled Kwalee to develop the very complex ecosystem that surrounds such a multiplayer game whilst using and enhancing the proven and well known game mechanics. This means that BLT is the first Kwalee game to feature original, unique and compelling core gameplay. Team Unicron have succeeded in this with some off-the-wall thinking and outrageous humour that borders on the extreme.
Team Leader Adam Philbin is typically whimsical; "We wanted to create a game that would make people laugh and cry, hopefully leading to years of expensive therapy. I don't want to blow my own trumpet but I think we've succeeded in that department!"
BLT also represents a step change in art style for Kwalee, as it's the first game to involve the company's dedicated art studio, led by Head of Art James Horn. The original artwork and concepts from Team Unicron's Adam Philbin have been brought to life ably by the art studio's skillful artists, with Kwalee's eccentric Russian, Alexei Lundgard, illustrating the bulk of the in-game graphics. The huge strength and quality of the game's artwork is a great compliment to the exceptional gameplay.
Over the next few months BLT will be developed with more levels and every aspect of the game will be fine tuned to create the most satisfying gaming experience. Kwalee CEO David Darling CBE (who was a co-founder of Codemasters) is determined to publish something very special: "We are not here to create games that are simple and easy to develop. We are here to create exceptional products and Kwalee will commit all the resources necessary to achieve this. PocketCAS is a very advanced computer algebra system which turns an iPhone or iPod touch into a device capable of calculating complicated mathematical problems in just seconds. If text was selected prior to pressing a function key, the previously selected text will automatically be used as the argument for the entered function.
PocketCAS makes it easy to compose physical formulas. Built-in constants and physical units allow to enter formulas from a textbook without having to substitute constants manually. Entering large matrices by hand can be a huge pain, so PocketCAS' visual matrix editor assists with this task.

It serves as a great scientific calculator and allows to plot one function at a time. PocketCAS is a very advanced computer algebra system which turns an iPhone or iPod touch into a device capable of calculating complicated mathematical problems in just seconds. The main target group are scientists, mathematicians and students. PocketCAS makes their everyday work a lot easier. Apart from calculating symbolic derivatives and taylor series expansions as well as plotting cartesian and polar functions, PocketCAS computes symbolic integrals, simplifies expressions and does advanced linear algebra. A vast amount of more than 500 functions enable PocketCAS to solve almost every mathematical problem.
The integrated function plotter makes it easy to visualize formulas. Users can graph cartesian as well as polar functions without having to worry about plot settings. Ease of use has always been EUROCOMP's main goal developing software. PocketCAS ships with nine tutorials. There's also an easily accessible and clear searchable list of all available functions. The list is combined with examples and syntax information for almost every available function.
Almost every object in PocketCAS can be printed or exported as PDF or image. Be it the whole document, a plot, an entry or just a single formula - it can be exported for use in other applications.
Special care has been taken in order to make text input a breeze. When working with a CAS, there's a lot of different functions one might want to enter (PocketCAS is a lot more powerful than a regular scientific calculator). The iPhone's touchscreen is not very large and as much space as possible should be available for the calculations. PocketCAS therefore introduces a special mathematical keyboard with different sections. When tapping a function's key, it will be entered including braces, with the cursor in between. If text was selected prior to pressing a function key, the previously selected text will automatically be used as the argument for the entered function.
PocketCAS makes it easy to compose physical formulas. Built-in constants and physical units allow to enter formulas from a textbook without having to substitute constants manually. Entering large matrices by hand can be a huge pain, so PocketCAS' visual matrix editor assists with this task.
PocketCAS is available in two different versions. For many uses, the free version PocketCAS lite may be sufficient. It serves as a great scientific calculator and allows to plot one function at a time. PocketCAS pro adds more sophisticated CAS functions like symbolic integration and advanced linear algebra and also plots multiple functions at once.
