Try Calibre, which is also an ebook converter.

Well, do you have photos from 2003 in iPhoto, ones that you've forgotten
about, perhaps?

I also wonder if "All my Files" includes files on a connected backup drive.
Could this apply in your case?

It's kind of a shock, isn't it! You now have seen a list of all the files you have on your machine, and it's a good time to look around and clean stuff out.

If you'd just rather ignore it. you can turn off seeing "All My files" in Finder's sidebar preferences.

All My Files shows just that, all files local to the Mac including those on external drives. As with all sidebar items, it can be toggled 'off and on' via Finder/preferences.

Howdy.

Only you can know what you should and should not delete.

But start by learning to tell an alias file from a regular file.

The icon for an alias file will have a little arrow in bottom left
corner of the file icon.

If you are using a View that shows icons at small sizes, then this
alias file arrow can be hard to see.

The alias arrow is easier to see in icon view.

You can also do a Get Info command on a file and in the resulting
info/dialog box that opens for the file, almost at the very top, there
is an item named Kind and if the file is an alias it will say Kind:
Alias.

You can also show a folder in List view and then click the Kind column
and all of the files will resort by the Kind of files they are and this
will put all of the alias files in one group. If you don't see the
Kind column in List View, turn it on. To turn on the Kind column be
sure the Finder window is open and is displayed in List view then use
your mouse and choose the View menu from the Menu bar at top of Desktop
screen and pick the Show View Options command. A dialog box opens and
you can put a check in the check box next to Kind.

This is just a start but hopefully a good one to figuring out what is
and what isn't an alias.

The incorrect address is in your history. I'm not sure how you delete history items on an iPad. In Mail you go to menu... Window... Previous Recipients to get the editable list. You should look for something similar. You might also Google this. It's a very common question.

Downloaded the .pdf. The iTunes store has it as well. The iPhone part of the title threw me off at first

Anyone notice how much SSDs have come down in price?

Macmall is advertising a 256gb SSD for $129.

I imagine performance varies but this is quite a drop.

No problem: ~/Library/Mail/

You'll find several folders there. V2 has most of the stuff you're looking for, but you might find some in Lost & Found, too.

Howdy.

For the United States Apple site, here's the section for downloading
manuals. No need to use iTunes. Just browse to the main Apple site.

<http://www.apple.com/>

Then click the Support tab.

Then note the Manuals section/icon and click it.

The very first item is iPhone User Guide (For iOS 6) posted on
September 21, 2012.

I'm trying to clean up my Eudora mailboxes for transition to another
mail client.

Adam Engst has a great article about this:

<http://tidbits.com/article/12382>

In this he shows an Automator workflow (scroll down his article about
4 pages). Unfortunately he doesn't *provide* the workflow, just a
screenshot of it.

I've never used Automator before, so creating the workflow he shows
is becoming a bit of a... failure.

I've dragged my mail folder into the Automator screen, so the first
step ("Get Specified Finder Items") seems done.

But how do you drag "Get Folder Contents" or "Replace Text" actions
into the workflow?

Suggestions welcome.

Thanks,
Dave
