I had the time so spent three months and about 100 support person hours before the Mac Pro was replaced. Nothing was mentioned about refurbished when the replacement was arranged. I was able to purchase a full three years of Apple Care so I guess it is a refurbished machine.

I guess it differs from case to case. I had my last iMac to the Apple
store 2 times for the same issue within a month. On the night before
Applecare expired, I phoned Apple to mention that the issue was still
there. My machine was promptly replaced with a new model iMac.

My Powermac G5 was replaced within 3 weeks of purchase for a recurring
problem, back when they were new.

I still don't know if my current iMac is refurbed or new. It would be
hard to tell now.

I would, however, keep on Applecare about the issue you're having. If
they continue to tell you to reseat the RAM, I would definitely question
it. That should not be something you should have to do more than once
over a very long period of time.

An Australian site claims that this manual is in the iTunes Store. I
can't find one there either.

Anyone else?

Found it under 'iPhone User Guide for iOS 6'. Wasn't looking for the
iPhone part!

Thanks.

A week or so ago, I switched my group email to my yahoo address. This
week, I switched back to my .me mail address. Since doing so, I"m
receiving group mail at both the yahoo mail and .me addresses. Strange
behavior.

I've tried going in and selecting my choices again, and it's had no
affect. Naturally, I can only post from the .me account, which I am set
for now.

I did nothing more than at any other time.

Looks as if someone fixed this from Yahoo.com.

Howdy.

Use Safari on your Air.

Go to the Canon web site.

Download the current Canon driver for you printer.

Install.

Forgive me for being a curmudgeon, but your experience doesn't strike me as a recommendation for HP printers. In fact, just the opposite.

Your old printer was only "1 year old" and yet HP hasn't provided an updated driver for it. What other printer manufacturer so frequently orphans recent printer models? Brother and Canon not only don't orphan recent models, when a new version of OS X is released, they provide updated drivers right away. Usually the same day the new OS is released.

I have Brother printers that Brother still provides new drivers for, as needed, after over a decade. And Brother's updated drivers ship *with* new versions of the Mac OS, or can be easily found on Brother's Web site.

Having to purchase a new printer because Apple has released an updated OS is a sign of a terrible printer manufacturer, even if they give you a discount on the new printer. HP hasn't treated you well, they've robbed you.

I was waiting for someone to say this

On the other hand - my other option was to continue to use the Brother MFP that I hate. It makes not-very-good quality copies, and the print quality I would rate as a C+.

The older - it's actually 1.5 years old - printer by HP makes beautiful copies. I'm talking photocopying here - like, if I copy a page from a book - and it scans, which my Brother SAYS it will do, but it really won't.

HP told me that they will have an updated driver for my older printer, but they update the drivers for the machines that are most popular first and then go down the line, so mine hasn't been done yet. They expect it in the next month, but I wasn't willing to wait a month. So I bought a new printer and I got great customer service today in the set up process. Now, would I have rather been able to use my printer? YES!!! And I am unhappy that I couldn't. But there weren't a lot of options out there.

Who besides Brother makes MFP type printers that work NOW with 10.8? I posed this question to the list a week ago and got nothing for an answer. Except HP. So, if you don't want a Brother printer, what is one to do?

IMO, it's the price I'm paying to buy Apple products. We Apple folks are still the "little brother" of the computer world in spite of the obviously superior quality.

I'm sure you guys are going to have a lot of fun flaming me for this. It's kind of like talking about politics. No one right answer.

I have just switched to Mt Lion on my iMac and find a huge list of miscellaneous files from many years showing up under "All my Files" in the Finder Sidebar. What are these? There are hundreds of jpegs included. I was annoyed at seeing them all the time and thought they were a sort of alias and rashly moved them all to the Trash (Luckily I have not emptied the Trash). I then found I was missing a spreadsheet file that I often use - and found it in the Trash. I dragged it out and it works again. But now I wonder if all these files will be deleted if I empty the trash? Does anyone know for sure? Unfortunately one can't test it by just deleting a few from the trash. I've started right clicking on some of these files and using 'Put back'. But they don't go back to the finder but to their original location such as in iPhoto which worries me. And of course the extra security in Mt Lion means I have to type my password every time I want to move one file from the trash. Ugh!!!! It's a huge task if I have to move hundreds this way. I've just looked at the Finder Sidebar again and there's a new lot of hundreds of files listed. Some are photos from 2003! What's going on?
