I am on Mountain Lion and the latest Parallels 8.0.18101.
I think that this Parallels update changed the way my keyboard combinations work in Excel. Since there is no PageDn/Up or End or Home keys on the MBP, I had been using Shift+Control+(down arrow) to highlight all the rows in Excel so they could be deleted. However, when I do that now in Excel, I think it is showing me all the windows that are open in Parallels.
Maybe there are other key combinations that will select all the rows either up or down from the current row in Excel?
Any ideas or help would be appreciated. I am looking at the Preferences in Parallels and don't see what I want.
Thanks,
Bob

Do you have a fn (function) key on the MBP? Does that modify the arrow keys
to become Page Up/Down/Home/End?
(I have no experience of Parallels or how keys are modified in that
environment.)

Hi,
I'm wondering if there is a streaming device, such as Apple TV or Roku, that will let me stream non-Apple supported music formats, such as .flac files. I can play the .flac files fine on the iMac, but I'd like to not have to burn something to play it. I'd rather stream to say, the TV, and take the audio from that to the stereo aux input.
Thanks.

Bill, I'm embarrased, but I cannot understand what you just said. What does "DM play the," mean? How do you do that? What IS it? Where do you do it?
Thanks.

Yes. Most streamers except the Apple TV will play FLAC. Are you after the
best SQ or just something that will "do the job"? If your TV is a "smart"
TV on your network, you can probably do this already; if not, the Logitech
Squeezebox range is very popular and gets good reviews.
If you're using FLAC, I assume you're not using iTunes? You can convert any
lossless format to another using Max if you want, with no loss of quality,
which then allows you to use an Apple TV if you prefer. The ATV gives you
video, as well, of course, if you want it.

Thanks for responding. It still isn't there. I've tried removing all emails with the incorrect email address and removed all accounts on IPad and no luck. I even tried reviewing sites and blogs and no luck. Thanks for trying to help me.

Howdy.
You should have an Automator Untitled (Workflow) window open in
Automator.
If you start by dragging a folder to the 3rd column, the column on
right where a workflow is put together, then the Get Specified Finder
Items will list the Mail folder and path that you want the Workflow to
work on.
You can do the same thing, however, by dragging an Action from the
middle column to the work area.
You would click the Actions icon at top left (under Show/Hide
Library).
Then click to select the Files & Folders item in left column.
Then look at middle column and drag Get Folder Contents to the workflow
construction window. Note the check box named Repeat for each
subfolder found.
If you do this correctly you will see a sort of send onward flow
pointer at bottom of the Action that connects to a "Receive" bump at
the top of the next Action in the sequence.
You can test your workflow with the Run button at top right of
Automator's Toolbar.
You construct a workflow by building a series of linked Actions.
The Get Specified Finder Items means that you specify the exact things
to be "gotten" in the Action window. A sometimes more useful Action of
this sort is called "Ask for Finder Items" which lets you select files
in advance and then run the workflow or action on them which can be
more flexible.
- - - - -
You didn't mention what version of Mac OS X and Automator you are
using. This makes a big difference on how you "save" a workflow.
Automator has changed a good bit since it was first introduced.
Also note that many programs when they are installed will come with
some Automator. For example, MS Office 2011 installs a bout 30 Actions
that can be used in Word and Excel.
When you save a workflow you have a choice of making it a Workflow or
an Application with the Save As dialog.
You can also create a "Service" which was introduced with Automator in
Snow Leopard and replaced the Finder Plugin feature that Automator
did. A Service or Finder Plugin was accessible via a contextual menu
command with the mouse.
Good luck.

My mystery video file plays in VLC. I would like to import into my iTunes Library. I cannot figure out what type file it is, but it plays in VLC.
I use a free app called Adaptor for video file conversions. I drag the file to the Adaptor window and click convert to iTunes Library. Adaptor says it is successful. But it ain't there. Normally, Adaptor does a beautiful job for all videos I download off YouTube, but this one seems strange.
Any idea what type of video file it is originally? It's an Afghan War helmet clip. All other helmet video clips convert beautifully in HD.
Thanks

I am doing a very detailed documentation on the conditions leading up to failure to wakeup from sleep.
Today is actually an IMPROVEMENT from three weeks ago. Then it was intermittent, now it is 100% bad. When the computer was at the local Apple dealer of course it was always normal.
Tomorrow I'll convert my scribbled logbook to Pages and email it to Apple Care. Last Thursday I got transferred to a senior advisor w/ a name & email address.
My nearest Apple store is about 80 miles. Wouldn't mind driving that, but it includes 70 miles of open ocean.

I recently joined several Yahoo groups. All with no non-member access to message history. Some very good groups, some porn. I left several groups within 5 minutes of joining. The mail just continues so I decided to trash the email address I have been using. Its more trouble than the email I don't want.
I added a new email address with my ISP and Yahoo Groups. Not a smooth process but finally got it to work . BUT
Every group got changed to full featured, and some to digest as well. Its a single click on a full featured email to change, and I always give Yahoo a couple days for a change to fully propagate. It has taken several tries to get the change to stick on some accounts.
Oh the joys of Yahoo Groups!

Thanks for the replies and I wish I had known about Finder preferences before I moved all these files to the trash as they were annoying me always showing up.. But I still have the problem of having to move most of them back to where they came from. Occasionally I can select a few together and the 'Put back' option occurs but usually I have to do it one by one - and put in my password each time. A window comes up and says where they are going to and it is usually the iPhoto library. Is there any way to turn off the password every time I move anything to or from the trash? Maybe a terminal command? Typing my password hundreds or maybe thousands of times is not too appealing!
