That is unless it is a drum scanner as it's worth keeping those babies running. ;)

There is a still maintained, or at least sold, app called Shareway IP and IIRC I needed it once I got to 10.5 on a G5. http://www.opendoor.com/shareway/ I installed that on my G3 and it could talk to the G5 running 10.5.8. I believe I had to connect to the G3 FROM the G5 and the G3 was wired to the router.

It's been a while now since I've done a scan and my drum scanner is 40 mins away. I still have to figure out how to bring home any drum scans I do. MY wife's laptop is running 10.6.8 and I'm not dragging (famous last words) my MacPro to the studio.

The Shareway site says it works up to 10.5. There is also FTPD Enable which I THINK I read about on this list. I don't know it's capabilities since I don't have Lion and my drum scanner isn't up and running yet, but it seems to run on 10.7. http://www.troncept.com/lion-ftpd-enable/

Also check user groups for the device in question as they may have some answers too.

Good luck.

Eric

I did find this exchange re: appletalk and a possible workaround. Too many posts to read for tonight as it's 1:30am here, but but it might have some answers as well. http://www.motherboardpoint.com/snow-leopard-breaks-file-sharing-os-9-a-t239549.html or http://tinyurl.com/cebrqet

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the suggestion, I was able to get the G4 to talk to The G5
using the TCP/IP window.

I simply opened the OSX networking panel, copied the IP address,
entered it into the TCP/IP

panel on the OS 9 machine and they where connected.

As for a new scanner, not really.

I'm using a $40,000 Fuji Lanovia and unless I were to go to a top of
the line Eversmart nothing touches it.

But then, you couldn't have known that.

Thanks again

J.Z.

That's pretty much the 'trick' to get most machines to communicate.

In researching networking to a win 7 machine, most sites recommend this method as well.

Anyone experiencing purple flash in their photos taken w a 4s or 5? I'm seeing discussions about edge light leaks, rattling internal parts, black surface scuffing in the 5 as well as the mapping issues.

Made me pause a bit about upgrading from a 4 for the moment. jr

Just heard on a podcast that the purple halo thing is a bug in the new camera software.

After transferring photos from my camera's CF card to my laptop, I deleted the image from the card and emptied the trash. I noticed the trash wasn't actually empty, so I took a look and found my camera's DCIM folder still there. Inside it was a folder named "115ND300," which itself contained another DCIM folder. And so on without any discernible end. Here's a screen shot of it:

Thoughts on this? Other than reformatting my CF card, and recommendations for avoiding this?

Thanks,
dane

Which camera? I use a Canon DSLR and have never had this happen. I usually copy first, verify, then delete from the card. If your card is large enough, leave the originals there in a seperate directory.

It does sound as if you need to reformat in the camera now though.

Another possibility is that the card has been formatted in FAT (ext).

This is an obscure format designed specifically for removable media such as cards and thumb drives.

As of yesterday, xcode is no longer considered beta! It is a full release.

Oops... about a 10x error: about 75000, while still a lot.

Thanks,
