Otto, thanks for your response. I tried using the extension .m4v, then opening in Handbrake and saving as .mp4. Worked. Don't know why Adaptor didn't work.

Holding Option and Safari/Window/Activity does not always reveal the video playing at YouTube. I think that the original video is sometimes hidden in multiple flash downloads. Downloading these flash pieces reveals nothing. Sometimes luckily, the same video is played elsewhere on the web where the original video file is not hidden in flash. But I may be missing how to get the video in Activity window.

Ah, if you're downloading Youtube videos, I recommend MacTubes. This shows
the formats available, so you can choose what you want, and it's much
easier than using the Activity window in Safari.

Good grief! MacTubes is incredible. Gives you a choice of files to download. Thanks, Otto.

Two guarantees the email is spam:

The subject line is "Hi" or "Hello"
Then there's a link.

Howdy.

The Trash has a "Put Back" command that will put files back where they
came from.

There are multiple ways to use the command but if you have a lot of
files in the Trash this can be a slow process. I don't know any way to
do a Put Back on a whole group of selected files. Just one at a time.

You might check through the Trashed files and Put Back the important
ones first then work on less important files later.

Open the Trash icon by double-clicking it. The Trash can window should
open.

Select an icon in the Trash.

Choose the Put Back command.

The Put Back command can be accessed from:

1. Control left click
2. Right click
3. Use the File menu on Menu Bar.
4. Keyboard command "Command Delete" keys.

One thing that might help is to select List Mode, then select Date Modified
to sort on the age of the files. You could also sort on Kind if that's more
helpful.

Ruth,
I have to ask: do you not have backups of all these files?
