A while back I followed some very good advice on this list and removed Flash from Safari, reserving the ability to view video content on the web by adding the menu item "Develop" on the Safari menu and checking OPen Page with and scrolling down to Chrome. Now, however, the list under that choice has unaccountably grown ridiculously long and all I want on there is Chrome. I don't know how to edit that list. Any ideas? I also don't remember what I actually did to even add "Develop" to Safari's menu bar.

Does any of the above make sense?

Hi.

Once again, I'm using an older Mac, and I'm trying to update my iTunes so it will sync with my iPhone 4.

Does anyone have the direct download links to iTunes 10.5 or 10.6?

Would so much appreciate it, as my searches, once again, have led to dead links, or the iTunes link not compatible with my old PPC.

YES, I AM getting a new computer soon. I've been using my niece's old, sort of broken Acer for school. The cursor jumps around, and iTunes will not open on that. College is tough enough w/o these hassels.

Cherie,

There are 2 easy ways to ensure you have the latest compatible version of
iTunes on your Mac:-

In iTunes, select iTunes > Check for updates;

Apple menu > Software Update. This will check for updates for all your
Apple apps, including iTunes.

Thought everyone might want to know the end of the non-working HP LaserJet M1217nfw printer saga.

Finally called HP today. According to the website I was out of warranty so would have to pay to talk. Decided to call to ask which computers ARE compatible with OS 10.8.1.
Got a very nice sales rep who recommended: hold your breath - the M1217nfw!!!

I told her that that's what I have and although the website says it would work, it doesn't. She transferred me to the tech side and I got a wonderful guy who immediately told me that they have no software upgrades that will allow that computer to work with a NEW computer using OS 10.8. If I had upgraded my computer from 10.7 to 10.8, it would work, but not with a new machine that didn't experience an upgrade. Said it will be available in the next few months but not now.

So I asked which machines DO work with 10.8 and he found me the M1536dnf. Keep in mind that I needed a printer that would also copy. It looks like a good machine. The best part is that he gave me the $40 discount listed on their website plus another $10 off for my trouble, and free shipping. Then I ordered a 2 pack of toner and got $30 off that. Evidently if you have to call tech support and wind up buying something new they discount it to make you feel better, which it certainly did.

I totally felt vindicated - was CONVINCED that this printer wasn't going to work with this computer and it won't

Whew!

Thanks to you all for trying to help.

Try downloading the Kindle app for Mac - freebie. I have the same stuff on my Mac as on my iPad - I just download it where I want it. That's why the "Docs > My Kindle Content" folder is on my Mac - these are the books I've downloaded to my Mac from the Cloud where they are stored when I buy them from Amazon.

i dragged my heals on OS X.8.1 until a yesterday, and thought things had slowed down a bit.
i just learned that OS X.8.2 is out, and it has speeded things back up again.
oh, boy.

Well I am so proud of myself - I downloaded it yesterday - I'm almost never out in front on anything! (Truth is I thought I was getting 10.7 - going from 6.8)

Question - How do I keep the desktop screen from flipping over to some widget screen, seemingly whenever it wants?

Probably, you have set, or it set it self to do that when your cursor hits a certain edge of the screen.
if i were you, i would go to System Preferences >Desktop & Screen Savers, then to screen savers. then
in the lower right hand side of screen savers is a button called "Hot Corners". click on that, and see if at the top
(Active Screen Corners) anything is chosen, presumably widget screen is chosen. use that drop down box and choose
"-".

a buddy told me that 10.8.1 affected his color intensity or some dang thing, so i just stayed away. i am usually an
early adopter.
i wasn't too impressed with 10.8.1, but i am a bit tickled by 10.8.2.

Thank you! :-)

And yes, the color on the 8.2 seems fine to me.
