iPhotographer Magazine launches on Apple’s Newsstand, free issue available

We love iPhone photography, sometimes referred to as iPhoneography, here at iDB. We love learning new methods to take better photos with our iPhones, and of course, sharing those methods with our awesome readers.

With that in mind, we wanted to tell you about a new digital magazine devoted to the subject. It’s called iPhotographer, and it just launched on Apple’s Newsstand this week with—wouldn’t you know it—a free preview issue…(...)

Parrot unveils new AR.Drone 2.0 Power Edition

In January of last year, Parrot took the wraps off of its AR.Drone 2.0 at the Consumer Electronics Show. And needless to say, the easy-to-fly iPhone-controlled quadricopter, with its built-in 720p camera, wowed the crowds.

Unfortunately, though, the AR.Drone 2.0 suffered from a problem similar to its predecessor—battery life. The RC vehicle could only fly for about 15 mins on a single charge. But that’s about change with the new Power Edition…(...)

First iOS 7, then Jonny Ive's title, followed by the iCloud Beta website, and now the iPad in Business website has been revamped to match Apple’s newly found approach to software design. Apple’s third-party USB adapter trade-in program now available in 30 countries

Following a handful of fatal electrocutions in China due to the use of unauthorized chargers, Apple unveiled a new USB Power Adapter Takeback Program earlier this month to “enable customers to acquire properly designed adapters.”

The program, which allows folks to turn in their third-party adapters for recycling, or trade them in towards the purchase of an Apple-branded adapter, officially launched yesterday, and it’s now available in 30 countries around the globe…(...)

Apple’s Dev Center to undergo scheduled downtime tonight

Apple began emailing developers last night, informing them that their Developer Website would be going offline on August 17th—that’s tonight—at 6PM PST for a “brief scheduled maintenance.”

The move comes exactly one week after Apple alerted developers that all of its remaining Dev Center services had been brought back online following a three week outage due to a security breach…(...)

Old school gaming meets iPhone case

When I think of an iPhone case, I primarily worry about protection, looks, construction material, and practicality. Typically, these would be the standards by which I grade a case for review, after using them for about a week’s time. Very rarely, if ever, do I worry about the level of fun my iPhone case can produce.

Call me a cynic, maybe a realist, but iPhone cases and fun do not typically mix. Sure, there are really cool and awesome cases out there that may invoke some sort of childish excitement by the user. However,  after running across the Retro Game Case lineup by Pure Gear, having fun may just be the new factor for favorite cases…(...)

If you’re heading out to go see the new Jobs biopic, or any other movie this weekend, be sure to keep an eye out for Apple’s new Mac Pro ad. Reports are surfacing that it has started airing in theaters nationwide.

The commercial, which was first shown at WWDC during a sneak preview of Apple’s new Pro computer, shows the radically-redesigned desktop tower from various angles. We’ve got the ad queued up after the fold…(...)

Apple SVP Phil Schiller sells nearly $20 million in company stock

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller became $20 million richer today, according to documents filed with the SEC. The papers show that Schiller cashed in a ton of Apple stock for more than $18 million in cash.

In all, Schiller sold a total of 37,172 shares of common stock at a price of $500 for a total haul of $18.6 million. That’s almost exactly half of his 75,000 shares that vested in June, which was half of the 150,000 share bonus he received last fall…(...)
