Wichita based QuickerTek today announces the AC Quicky, a USB network adapter upgrade that allows older Macs to connect to wireless access points that use the new 802.11 ac Wi-Fi standard. The AC Quicky uses the same chipset as Apple so users may know that their upgraded MacBooks, Pro's and Air's maintain all of the compatibility that a new MacBook Air offers. Networking drivers are included in the Mac OS, and users need not struggle to find working drivers after Apple issues an update.
Wichita, Kansas - QuickerTek, the technology leader in mobile power and wireless networking for Apple computers, has created an upgrade for older Apple MacBooks to take advantage of the latest wireless technology. A simple USB device produced from this company allows older PowerBooks to have the same quicker 802.11ac networking which is built into the latest MacBooks. Because of the new AC Quicky, faithful MacBook users don't have to settle for slower networking speeds, in an otherwise very capable laptop. The AC Quicky is available from QuickerTek and their resellers for $149 USD.
The reason for the effectiveness of the 802.11 AC Wi-Fi technology in the latest MacBook Air is that it uses wider RF bandwidth - 5GHz spectrum, higher modulation and a number of other technologies to boost wireless speeds. The 802.11a/b/g/n ac specification has an expected multi-station WLAN throughput of at least 1 gigabit per second and a single link throughput of at least 500 megabits per second (500 Mbps). Consequently, 802.11n is now half as fast as the new AC networking standard.
The AC Quicky uses the same chipset as Apple so users may know that their upgraded MacBooks, Pro's and Air's maintain all of the compatibility that a new MacBook Air offers. Originally published more than fifty years ago, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" by Julia Child was a labor of love for Julia Child. It took her over a decade to write because she often tested recipes ten to fifteen times. Throughout the book's development, she had the home cook very much in mind, and with this app, those home cooks will learn exactly how to master those same techniques from Julia herself. The recipes for this app were culled by her longtime editor Judith Jones. "These recipes," Jones said, "provide home cooks with the basic tools they need to create a dish. Whether it is braising or roasting or flambeing, the recipes give a culinary framework in addition to providing a window into the book as a whole."

Julia Child was born in Pasadena, California on August 15, 1912. She was graduated from Smith College and worked for the OSS during World War II in Ceylon and China, where she met Paul Child. After they married, they lived in Paris, where she studied at the Cordon Bleu and taught cooking with Simone Beck and Louisette Bertholle, with whom she wrote "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" (1961). In 1963, Boston's WGBH launched The French Chef television series, which made her a national celebrity, earning her the Peabody Award in 1965 and an Emmy in 1966. Several public television shows and numerous cookbooks followed. She died in 2004. This month, she would have celebrated her 101st birthday.
