Hi guys I have had the same problem and gave every suggestion a shot several times the one that worked for me was to turn off wifi and turned my 3G Verizon on I did kill the badge by double clicking the home button first, when I hit the app badge this time it told what needed updating. I then turned the 3 G off and wifi back on for speed as I read in apple discussion and the apps loaded and updated. If you don't have 3G this won't help you!

Today when I turned my iPod 2 on there was one update showing, I opened
the App Store up and found BING listed as needing update, worked normal
again on wifi.

Thanks for the help. This morning it worked the second attempt, one of my normal times I have checked in the past few days.
