I would like to use it on an iPod Touch. There is a few instances where I need to input a lot of data or need to do it quickly and it was a lot easier on the Palm PDA.

Thanks!

A lot of apps go free for 24-48 hours and you can grab them then. Apps Gone Free is a good one to try, and there are others. I get lots of my apps that way.
There are also a couple of apps that you can request to be notified when the price drops.
Carol

The one thing a really miss about my ancient Palm PDA is being able to write without a keyboard and it save as text. I can live without it, but I miss it.
I noticed there are some apps that do just that, but they were not free. Before I spend money, does anyone have an app for handwriting recognition that they like or dislike?

Thanks,
Carrie

Thanks, I guess I didn't realize it went both ways. I have saved do s in Word to send to friends, but I didn't know I could write in Word and save to Pages.

You CAN'T create a document in Word and save it in Pages format.
But Pages will open .doc files.

Greetings,

Note: Old versions of iWork may not be as compatible as desired with respect
to new docx and pptx formats from the latest Office version.

For best interoperability when the target configuration is unknown, save as
doc and ppt files. [or just make sure that sender and recipient have same
[or latest for Mac and PC] office versions and latest iWork versions on the
Mac].

Carol,

Look at Pages. It can save as Word doc and it can open a Word doc.

a Windows 7 PC laptop because it is portable.
Is there a way I can write in Word and then continue to work it in Pages on
the Mac?
It would be way easier to work on a laptop than on the iPad.
Thanks,
Carol

What does it mean if, with Disc Utility, I select my boot drive and both Permissions buttons are gray? They work for my other HDs.

OSX 10.7.5

Actually, it should be the other way around. Verify Permissions and Repair
Permissions should be greyed out for non-bootable drives and available on
bootable drives. "Repair Disk" should be greyed out on the current boot
drive and "Verify Disk" should be available.

Howdy.

Repair Permissions thing has to do with Permissions for items that are
part of the OS X system and files.

If a drive doesn't have an OS X system installed on it, there is
nothing to repair.

OK…just forget I asked the question. It was dumb. I'm running three HDs, and had forgotten which one was the boot HD. The one I thought isn't.

Also, if you select the physical drive (for example: 2TB Hitachi), and not the boot VOLUME on it, the permissions repair and verify will be grayed out for the volume(s) on the drive. At least, that's the way it is on my system, with three volumes (including the boot volume) on the same drive.

Howdy.

No apology needed!

However, for future reference, the Mac has always booted and displayed
the boot drive as to top most drive at right on the Desktop. Since
1984.

It's an easy visual clue of which is the boot drive.

It still does this unless you have icons on Desktop that are placed to
close to the top/right position on Desktop.

I bought the Pages app for my ipad and it downloaded fine. My iPhone, on the same account, is trying to download Pages too, but it has been stuck for hours. The icon says "waiting" and the progress bar is at zero. I powered off the phone and started it back up, but it is still stuck on waiting.

This is thenfirstmtime I've had this problem. Earlier today, I successfully downloaded the Numbers app and it downloaded fine to both devices.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Lou

Try syncing it from your computer.
