You are running a beta ("b2")?
Have you asked the program's author?

Got the same error with the release version.

I always ask here out of habit. I'll ask the author.

Thanks,
Dave

So others can learn from this, myself included, by Chicken, do you mean Chicken of the VNC?

C of VNC has been renamed Chicken.

It has been superseded by Chicken.
<http://sourceforge.net/projects/chicken/>

But why use Chicken when a VNC client has been part of OS X for 2-3
versions now as Finder > Share Screen?

Because Chicken is VNC client software, and VNC server software is built-into OS X.

You need both a server and a client for VNC.

So, if you're looking to remember where that app is that you filed away somewhere, or you need to find that specific document, but you can't remember where you put it, this is a great, quick way to both find and then access that file in whatever folder it's in.

Rufus is an .exe file for PC.

The whole reason I'm asking for a way to do this on a Mac is that the only PC I have available is the target -- currently lobotomized laptop (no OS) -- that I want to install Windows on.

Options include Boot camp, virtual box {free}, parallels, and fusion. I created a virtual box Win 7 machine which runs almost everything [the software on a diagnostic imaging CD - X-ray pictures with a clunky app probably designed for health professionals - crashes the virtual machine. It ran OK on a native W7 or a native XP PC].

Julian,
I'm not asking for options for creating a Windows presence on the Mac. Not interested.

I want to install Windows on a laptop I have. That's all.

As I understand it, I should be able to burn *any* .iso image to a USB flash drive using Disk Image's Restore utility.

Since this image's destination is a PC, I formatted the flash drive in FAT32. Should this matter?

The error seems to be with the .iso images I've tried.

Rufus that I mentioned will do this

Run rufus.exe, that starts the software, select the ISO, it will then write the iso to the USB stick,. and make it bootable.

Rufus only formats the USB drive. There is no option I can find to burn or install the .iso to make a bootable USB flash drive.

Hi Dave

I have used it twice in the last 2 weeks

At http://rufus.akeo.ie/  towards the bottom of the screenshot you will see the option to Create a Bootable disk using:  Select ISO as per the screenie, and  the icon to the right, that is the browse to the ISO file. Browse to and select the file, Start, and it will be done

Trust me!

Cheers

Tony,
Great quantities of sincerest apologies for objecting to your excellent advice. After cleaning my glasses I found the pop-up menu for .iso image and successfully burned it to a flash drive. It installed very easily and the tiny netbook is humming along under Windows 7.

Soon to be sold to afford something in the Mac category...

Thanks again Tony for your help. Very much appreciated.

Cheers,
Dave
