In one of the most crowded niches on the iPhone App Store, Caption Distraction sets itself apart from the competition in a multitude of ways. It features an authentic comic book look based on the stylings of renowned comic book letterers Richard Starkings and John Roshell. Expensive licensing was obtained to ensure that the fonts, word balloons, captions, and effects all added up to produce a professional look.
While having great style in an app is important, it's completely wasted if the app is unable to function properly. This is certainly not the case with Caption Distraction as its user interface is one of its most powerful and innovative features. While many similar apps try to condense all functionality onto one screen, Caption Distraction takes more of a step wise approach and divides tasks into multiple screens - each featuring carefully written instructions displayed in alerts. The result is a much less confusing / overwhelming experience for the user which allows for much faster comic creation.
Another innovative feature of the user experience is the menu used to add comic elements to photos. With a couple of taps and swipes, the user is able to quickly sift through hundreds of word balloons, effects, stickers, and filters to find the element or feature they need. This is in direct contrast to other similar themed apps which require the user to access a multitude of distinct looking menus either nested or in different areas of the screen.
Caption Distraction's uniqueness is not only limited to its aesthetics and usability, but also extends to its features. Like many other photo apps, Caption Distraction provides the user with the ability to add "stickers"; or small illustrations that can be inserted into a photo. Caption Distraction actually features over 400 such stickers in categories such as animals, glasses, hats, masks, monsters, mustaches, and many more. What makes Caption Distraction unique in this regard is its ability to allow the user to add color to these stickers. For instance, if the user wants to add a bear sticker to a photo, they have the ability to change the color of any of its components (i.e. fur, eyes, nose, outline, eyebrows, etc.). This is an extremely rare feature and one that is not seen on many, if any, other apps in the App Store.
Another very unique feature of Caption Distraction is its ability to produce multi-colored text in its word balloons and captions. Many apps allow you to change the color of the text in its entirety, but Caption Distraction allows you to actually change the color of each character. So for instance, if you have a cute baby in one of your photos and want to attach a word balloon to it that says "peek-a-boo!", you're able to use 11 different colors for that one phrase. Again, like changing the color of the stickers, this is a rare feature that isn't seen in many other apps in the App Store.
Ultimately, Caption Distraction stands out in a very crowded niche because of its authentic comic book look, elegant user interface, and unique features. The response to the app from users thus far has proven this with all versions in all countries garnering 56 reviews for an overall five star rating.

Bramber Inc., based in San Francisco, was co-founded in 2012 by Brad and Amber Taylor. Recently married, when they received their wedding video in the mail the magic and memories of their wedding day came flooding back; however, one point in the video caught them by surprise. While the photographer was shooting the wedding party's photos, the videographer left his camera running. What was captured was a spontaneous, real-life montage of one of their favorite parts of the day. Something no single photo or photo album could ever do. The app is easy to use: The app starts reading and displaying the stream as soon as the camera's URL is entered. nm-CAM supports authorization by user name and password if required. The app can store URLs of several IP cameras, and provides an intuitive interface to simply switch between video streams.
The app offers detailed information about every stream like streaming data rate and video codec details and takes screen shots with a single tap.
nm-CAM can be used to quickly check if cameras are reachable from iOS devices. Errors during streaming are logged and can be summarized in comprehensive error reports. Such reports can be sent to nova media for further analysis subject to charge.
The Berlin based developer also offers OEM versions to specification for IP camera manufacturers, distributors and the security sector. For iOS developers, a dedicated nm-CAM SDK is available separately which already includes a Xcode demo project.
nm-CAM app is available for free from Apple's AppStore and compatible with all iOS devices running iOS 6.x.
