Yes you can. They put the money on a gift card for you to use how you see fit. Either towards another iPhone or any product you choose

It has both GSM and CDMA but you use the one as per w service provider, whose micro SIM is in the iphone.
There are quite a few dual system phones by Nokia and Samsung being sold in countries like China, India etc. where both systems are in use.

Apple sells out of iPhone 4S pre-orders, now shipping in 1-2 weeks

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Apple sells out of
iPhone 4S pre-orders, now shipping in 1-2 weeks via 9to5Mac by Mark
Gurman on 10/7/11

This happened internationally earlier in the day, but now Apple has
sold out of its U.S. iPhone 4S pre-order allotment. Customers who are
interested in ordering an iPhone 4S from the Apple Online Store can
still order, but the shipments are said to arrive in 1-2 weeks. The one
week likely means just a little after the October 14th launch, and the
two weeks would be right around October 21st.

I didn't get up at 3am but I did order as soon as my alarm went off at 540a
and luckily I was able to get through.

As of an hour ago - Apple.com is quoting 1-2 weeks for all models on all
carriers, as is AT&T. Verizon and Sprint are "sold out" of the 16GB model
and show the 32 & 64 as still available. As always they all list that
there will be "In Store" stock. Apple loves lines which equals news
coverage which means free advertising - they could easily take the stock for
stores and move it to the pre order batch but they won't.

So much for this not being "much of an upgrade" - it is the fastest selling
iPhone yet and there hasn't even been a commercial. Steve would be happy.

PS - The best line I heard this week was that the "S" in iPhone 4S means "4
Steve" - kind of corny but a nice sentiment.

How much memory?

Posted by: "Devitt" devittad@comcast.net   devittad

Hi all,

I've got a 16g iPhone 3GS which is only a little over have filled. If I get a new 16 g 4S, is all my stuff likely to fit? I'm wondering if all the new iOS software will take up a lot of memory.

I don't keep a lot of music, video, etc. on it. My iPad 2 does that duty. So would I be safe with a 16g? No sense in paying for what will simply remain idle.

Many thanks,

Cathy

Not to belabor the obvious, but the 8 GB or so on your 3GS will occupy 8 GB or so when it is moved to your new 4S: it will still be "only a little over half filled".

However....

Your 3GS takes 3 megapixel images; the 4S will take 8 megapixel images. If you take lots of pix with your iPhone, the space will fill up almost 3 times faster. And with iOS 5, it will be *easier* to take pix with the phone.

So, what is presently filling up the 8 GB you're using?

I think it depends on when you ordered as there are only so many
ready for shipping now. You could be in the next batch or next batch.

I was up at 3am trying off and on until I got thru so I hope I made
the first group.

iPhone 4, my second iPhone, was the first I considered getting right out of the gate. But I kept going back and forth on whether to order the first day. By the time I made the decision, the first batches were gone and my ship date ended up being two weeks later. Didn't risk it this time. I was online shortly after the orders started to get it the first day.

Re: Selling iPhone 4 on Ebay?

You can also try Craigslist. I sold my iPad on Ebay and
iPhone 3GS on Craigslist. One tip is to start the listing
higher than you want, then if no hits, lower it by $25 then
if nothing lower it by $25 again and again until it sells.

Also remember selling thru Ebay, Ebay gets a fee and if you
use Paypal to get the $, they get a fee too. So your out
$30-$50 depending on your selling price.

Do a search on both for the model iPhone your selling to get
an idea on prices.

I would try the ATT store first as they are only selling ATT
versions where the Apple store would have them all. So probably
more people waiting.

When you pre-order, do you not get an option "for in store pick up"? I've always gotten that. Not upgrading this time, so haven't looked.

We won't know until we actually use Siri but I have a feeling it will be
parallel to Facetime and Video Chat on Android - one just works and the
other sort of works under certain circumstances.

I can only go by the videos I saw but it made a convert out of me.

A week or so back, I called it not needed and something I would never use,
check the topics here, now I can't wait to try it.

If it does half of what I saw, it would be amazing.

AT&T  vs Apple Ordering

Unless you want to stay home and wait for your new iPhone to come in the mail, why order from AT&T instead of Apple? Personally, picking up my new iPhone in store, I prefer to order through Apple when I can. The people are friendlier and they know more about the iPhone. I can ask a question and get the same answer from multiple employees. The 3 AT&T stores I've been into, I ask 3 different people the same question and get 3 different answers. Learn about the products you sell AT&T, BTW, I have AT&T as my iPhone carrier. No account issue problems, yet.

I discovered that most of the ATT stores are privately owned. Only a few are owned by ATT and are MUCH better to deal with than the independents. They can do a lot more stuff too. I called ATT and they told me where the nearest ATT owned store was.

I'm actually surprised at the number of preorders AT&T is getting for the 4S considering the negative reviews on it's service and capacity. Speed doesn't do a lot of good without reliability in my book.

My thoughts were, at an ATT store there would only be ATT customers.

At an Apple store, ATT, Sprint and Verizon people could all be waiting.
So many many more and longer lines.

So I would go to an ATT store over Apple, if both ATT and Apple stores
were both close.

After worrying that the 4s might be (relatively) quickly superseded by the next generation (did I see someone predict April?) I decided Id already waited too long. With the current software it is often SO slow, and the camera is really old and yet I use it all the time. Anyway, I preordered online to be mailed to me. I am hoping activating the new phone and upgrading the account etc. Will go okay since I won't have those nice folks at the apple store to do everything. I did spring for apple care though. I love the phone support.

.What's a good annotation app for iPhone/Touch? One that annotates photos with similar things like the annotations in Preview on the Mac.
