Strange for this to happen. Since 1984 this has never happened to me.

Perhaps we are not communicating with each other.

It sounds to me that the battery is charged and will not connect to the Mac for some reason.

I understand that it is a common occurrence.

Since 1998, my primary computer has been one or another model of Mac Laptop, and I have never experienced -- or seen described on the forum -- what you are apparently experiencing.

Did you mention earlier what model of laptop?

There is a small application named "coconutBattery2.7.4" available from <www.coconut-flavour.com> (yes, it is 'flavour') which might throw some light on this curious situation. It gives some details on the health (or otherwise) of the battery and is worth a try if you have not already done so.

Coconut Battery is a nice little app but you can get most of the info from
System Profiler > Hardware > Power.
