Massachusetts based independent developer James Hollender has released version 2.5 his iCarbs app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. iCarbs allows anyone to easily find out how many carbohydrates there are in over 1,100 different food servings. The application offers critical information for diabetics who need to restrict their intake of carbohydrates, as well help bodybuilders get the high intake of carbs they want. The new version has been updated to support iOS 5.

Revere, Massachusetts - Independent developer James Hollender has released version 2.4 his "iCarbs - iNutrients: Carbohydrates" app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The iCarbs app allows users to easily find out how many carbohydrates there are in over 1,100 different food servings which is critical information especially for diabetics who need to restrict their intake of carbohydrates. The new version has been updated to support iOS 5.

The iCarbs app provides information about foods and how they are rated for carbohydrate content. This is given as a means to assist in deciding which foods to eat. In addition to being useful for diabetics, who need to make sure they don't exceed their recommended daily amount of Carbohydrates (carbs), iCarbs will also help bodybuilders get the high intake of carbs they want. The following colors help readily identify which is which:

* Black = Rated extremely high in Carbs (45.01 - 166.46 g)
* Dark Red = Rated very high in Carbs (30.01 - 45.00 g)
* Red = Rated high in Carbs (15.01 - 30.00 g)
* Orange = Rated moderately high in Carbs (12.01 - 15.00 g)
* Yellow = Rated moderate in Carbs (9.01 - 12.00 g)
* Light Green = Rated moderately low in Carbs (6.01 - 9.00 g)
* Green = Rated low in Carbs (3.01 - 6.00 g)
* Cyan = Rated very low in Carbs (0.01 - 3.00 g)
* White = Rated extremely low in Carbs (less than 0.01 g)

There are eight tables listing foods:
* All Foods (includes search capability)
* Fast Foods
* Fruits & Vegetables
* Meat, Fish & Shellfish
* Dairy & Egg
* Cereal Grains & Pasta
* Sweets
* Snacks

The All Foods table includes a search capability to quickly find food servings you are interested in.

Selecting an item in any of the tables will display pertinent information about the selected food serving:
* Food Title
* Weight in grams
* Common Measure, e.g., 1/2 cup, etc.
* Carbohydrate Content
* Calories
* Percentage of Carbohydrate by Weight
* USDA Description
* USDA Food Group
* USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference ID

Information is derived from the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference: Carbohydrate Content of Selected Foods per Common Measure. There are currently over 1,100 different food servings included, searchable using approximately 2,500 names (some foods are known by different names or how they are prepared, e.g., "Egg, Scrambled" and "Scrambled Egg"). A few of these have as many as six searchable names. The Info page provides additional information about Carbohydrates:

* Highest Carbohydrate Foods - Lists 15 different foods containing the highest amounts of Carbohydrates

* How to Use this App - Shows detailed information about how to record the user's personal nutrient intake of Carbohydrates, how to make changes to what the user has recorded, how to backup and restore the data.

* Access My Records - Provides up to a full year of recorded entries, listed and grouped by date. Users may also view each individual entry in the database. Allowances are made for deleting records, changing the date, and also changing the number of servings.

* Other Important Information - Provides access to a copy of the User Agreement, and links to communicate with the developer about bugs, suggestions or comments. There is also an iAd Sampler which allow the user to view up to five iAds at one time. It should be noted that the best selection of iAds comes out at the top of every hour.

We don't have a name for it. If you come up with the winning name for our game, we'll give you an iPod touch. Round Rock, Texas - Snakehead Software has been developing a new iPad game that takes music from your personal library and turns it into a futuristic motorcycle racing game. The only problem? We don't have a name for it. If you come up with the winning name for our game, we'll give you an iPod touch. You'll probably need to know more about the new iPad game (soon to be released on android as well) before you come up with the winning name, so let's start there.

It's a racing game set in a futuristic world (think TRON meets F-Zero). The players select a song from their own personal music library, (or one from several great new artists built-into the game). Once you've selected a song, the game analyzes the music to determine the notes, beat, frequency, etc and builds a randomized racetrack with the notes set upon the track. The player must then race down the track on their futuristic looking motorcycle, collecting as many of the notes as possible while listening to the music.

Once a player completes a race of a particular song, they may send challenges to other players to beat their score on that song. The challenged player may view a short clip of the challenger racing to that particular song, or even race against a "ghost" image of the challenger on the track to see how they raced to that song.

A powerful but easy to use implementation of BASIC processes this information, creating graphs that can be rotated, panned and zoomed with swipe and pinch gestures.

Albuquerque, New Mexico - techBASIC 1.1 extends its programming capabilities with interactive plots. Like an electrocardiogram, techBASIC's accelerometer program updates the graph continuously, sweeping from left to right with the most recent data as the iPhone is turned and moved.

techBASIC lets students, hobbyists, scientists and engineers write programs for iOS devices. techBASIC can collect information from the accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer, as well as report on the position and heading of an iPhone, iPod or iPad. A powerful but easy to use implementation of BASIC processes this information, creating graphs that can be rotated, panned and zoomed with swipe and pinch gestures.

And now, these graphs are interactive - a great example is the Accelerometer program, It's well under 100 lines of BASIC, with lots of comments, but still generates an interactive graph showing the acceleration along the X, Y and Z axis. This sample program updates the graph continuously as the iPhone is turned and moved.

At the core of techBASIC is a BASIC compiler with natural matrix commands like those used for scientific computing.

techBASIC gives several styles of interactive graphs, and supports 2D and 3D Cartesian coordinates, polar coordinates, cylindrical coordinates and spherical coordinates. Even after program execution ends, plots can be zoomed and rotated. As the plot is explored, the points needed to display it are recalculated, so there is no pixilation as a zoom is performed to see the details. The built-in debugger and help system assist in writing programs quickly and accurately, and the complete reference manual is available in PDF format, so it can be loaded into iBooks(R) and carried to the field.

Cary, North Carolina - Digital Leprechaun today is pleased to introduce Suicide Kings 2.0 for iOS, their new, single person, puzzle Game that challenges the player to identify winning, 5-card poker hands as fast as they can from an ever growing collection of cards dealt. A variant of Texas Hold'em, a 3-card Flop moves from the top of the table to the River, though the River in Suicide Kings measures 7-cards wide by 7-cards high. As the Flop slowly descends from the top of the screen, the player can move it horizontally and/or re-order it. If the River grows more than 7-cards high, the game ends. Making a hand removes those cards from the table, so the player must touch 5 contiguous cards for a scoring hand of two pairs or better, to both score points and make room for more cards. The game includes three levels of difficulty, Suicide Kings are wild, and Flop cards come with increasing frequency as the player's score grows.

Texas Hold'em is one of the most popular forms of poker in the U.S. Suicide Kings is an exciting, single player variation that adds two new elements to the game: shape sorting and pattern matching, and ever changing time limits. As in any good game, it is easy to learn but difficult to master.

At the start of play, it takes 30 seconds for the Flop to move all the way from the head of the table to the last row of the River. As soon as it begins to move, the next Flop appears; ready to descend when the first Flop reaches the River. This interval, between Flop cards reaching the River, provides the player with an opportunity to make both strategical and tactical assessments.

There are two unbreakable rules with which the player must contend. First, 5-card hands, constructed from the 3 to 46 cards in the River, must be two pairs or better, and all 5 cards must be contiguous either horizontally or vertically. Finding the highest scoring hand becomes increasingly difficult as the number of cards in the River grows. At the same time, the more cards on the table, the greater the chances of finding a scoring hand. At the lower levels of play there are many Suicide Kings (King of Hearts) dealt, which makes finding winning patterns of cards much easier.

Second, the River can never be more than 7-cards high. This is where the Push line is imprinted on the table, and when the River overflows the game ends. As a result, players must balance the need to make any scoring hand, which removes those 5 cards, with the desire to create high scoring hands by waiting until there are many cards from which to choose. So the goal is always to make the best 5-card hand available from the cards in the River, while keeping in mind the height of the River and the next Flop.

It is easy to imagine moments during gameplay when the player needs more time to consider their options. The Focus control allows players to briefly pause the game, but they may use it only a limited number of times per game (each $25,000 in winnings increments the number next to the hourglass icon).

Suicide Kings features a 3-card Flop that can assume many different shapes. All three cards touch each other, but can do so horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. As the Flop descends, players can rotate the Flop clockwise or counterclockwise, bringing different cards into the top and bottom positions. Players can also move the Flop left and right. With practice, players become more adept at rotating and moving the Flop so that it fits, like a puzzle piece, into the River most advantageously, allowing players to construct winning hands.

"I wanted to make a game that my non-gamer friends would enjoy," stated Joseph Wilcox of Digital Leprechaun. "I've spent the last ten years of my life making games that really cater to the 'gamer' crowd, and now I wanted to see if I could build something even my father or wife would like to play. Suicide Kings is the result. Going for a block puzzle game seemed like an obvious choice for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, I like this genre of game. "The second thing about block puzzle games is that they are easy to pick up, but tough to master. From a design point of view, this is a fun thing to strive for. And of course, it doesn't hurt that they are always popular with the 'casual gamer' crowd. So, I started laying out my plan for a game. I knew I wanted to build upon the strategy elements of games like Tetris and Bejeweled, but I wanted something to ground them. Poker seemed like a great way to tie the two mechanics together. About 2 weeks into testing, I started noticing that players were plateauing in their scores, pretty much across all skill levels. I found that as the game's speed increased, people almost universally started having trouble laying out their moves. I started testing the idea of being able to temporarily pause the game. The effect was immediate and exactly what was needed. So the Focus system was born.

"I knew I had something special when I found myself pulling out SK while sitting at the bank or running errands, but what really drove it home was when my wife texted me from my daughter's soccer practice and told me she was playing it. SCORE!"

The app features a visual navigation mode with night lighting option, which indicates through the camera viewer the exact compass heading, altitude, and time necessary to see the flare whose appearance the app has predicted.

Iridium Communications operates the Iridium satellite constellation, consisting of 66 active satellites plus additional spares (90 in total). Unique among satellite based, worldwide voice and data communication solutions, the Iridium network covers the entire Earth, including the poles, oceans, and airways. A dependable source of light shows in the night sky, Iridium flares are viewed by stargazers and skywatchers around the world.

On launch in portrait mode, the app first inquires of the user if they would like to use their present location as the basis for computing upcoming Iridium flares. Optionally, the user may input any location on Earth, directly entering latitude and longitude, or select a point on a street level Google Map. With the viewing location entered, the app takes a few seconds to compute the occurrence of any flares within the next 24 hours, next three days, next seven days, last 24 hours, or any period manually selected. The app accurately predicts to the exact second when and where flares should be visible (depending on conditions). The scrollable list of upcoming sightings includes the numerical designation of each satellite and its magnitude in the night sky (between minus eight and eight).

Selecting any listing activates a slide transition that includes comprehensive information regarding that flare and that satellite. Flare details include the following: Accuracy of Prediction (the sooner the event the greater the accuracy), Date & Time, Center (distance to that point at which the satellite will be nearest and directly overhead; also viewable on a Google Map), Azimuth, Altitude, Right Ascension, Declination, Range, Magnitude, Mirror, Illumination, and Angle. Satellite details include: Epoch, Status, Launch Date, Launch Number, Launch Object, Satellite Number, Revolution at Epoch, Classification, Inclination, RA of Ascending Node, Eccentricity, and Argument of Perigee.

Made in Germany, at home in the whole world: Where To? is one of the best and complete local search apps for iPhone.

The mobile app searches for shops and locations in the vicinity - for more than 2,400 brands and 700 categories. Using an intuitive navigation wheel the user sets the main category, like "Food & Drink", "Entertainment", "Travel & Transport" or "Health & Medical" to name just a few. When selecting "Food & Drink", for instance, one can choose from many different cuisines. The next Greek restaurant is found just as easy as the next Sushi restaurant or Starbucks cafe. By shaking the iPhone, the user can randomly select a category.

No matter whether searching for a nearby doctor's office, parking garage, gym or hotel: Where To? knows the suitable locations and displays them on a map or list sorted by distance. More information is shown on a place's details page. This allows to check the business hours, call to make a reservation, or view the menu on a restaurant's homepage. A compass arrow indicates the direction and distance where to go.

Not a must but a nice-to-have option is the 99 In-App-Purchase "Where To? 3D - Augmented Reality": Destinations are displayed right within the camera view of the neighborhood. No matter where in the world, this feature helps to get oriented quickly.

Where To? 4.0: Users write their own reviews:
The big new feature of the new 4.0 version: Locations can be reviewed by users right on-site: So it is easy to praise the delicious food of a restaurant, criticize the long waiting time at a doctor's office or inform fellow users that a boutique offers a 10% discount for purchases over $100. The iPhone app collects reviews of all Where To? users and displays them on the respective details pages. Ratings and reviews from Google users are displayed as well.

Another new feature: Own reviews can be shared with friends on Facebook or Twitter.
